FAWK! It's that time again. Let's see what the muse turns up. As usual, I have no plan. You?
Here's what I play on my demos
Me: Guitars, Bass, Vocals. Things I may attempt to play, but kinda suck at: drums, piano, sax.

Artificial Creative Unit: Drums that sound good (Addictive Drums), keyboards/synths and anything else you hear
Last year I made a playlist of Spotify FAWMers. It's a freaking great playlist. Y'all rock!

Thanks so much for giving me three comments this year. I love your style and look forward to listening to you every FAWM.

  • @rickamorphis  Feb 29

Hi Val! I usually greet you on the 1st day but I haven't been able to be around much this year so Leap Day will have to do...congrats on your win, ol' pal. πŸ˜€

  • @kembole Feb 28

Thanks for the comment. I tried to listen to you songs but none of them worked somehow 😞

  • @dragondreams  Feb 28

Thank you for the kind words, Val. πŸ˜€

  • @cindyrella  Feb 27

That'd be great. I would love to hear you sing this-whenever.

  • @helenseviltwin  Feb 26

In the immortal words of Blondie - Oh! Your hair is beautiful

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 26

Yes! I feel the pain of the adult version of Where Are Your Socks. LOL

  • @cindyrella  Feb 26

Thanks for your great comments Val!

  • @scubed  Feb 25

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on my collab with Liz!

  • @mattoxic  Feb 25

Hi Val, thanks for listening and commenting on Lottery of Life. I posted it the day before yesterday and it was a ZONG for 16 hours. I couldn't stand it. So I deleted it and reposted. and phew, it got a couple of listens. Thanks again.

  • @bethyrose Feb 25

Thanks! Yes, the chords are for guitar... I'm still experimenting to sort out how to make a halfway decent recording haha. Have a great last week of FAWM!!

  • @scottsimpsonmusic  Feb 24

Thanks for your kind words on my song, β€œIf You Wanna Make a Song”. I really appreciate it!

  • @chriddof Feb 22

Thank you for the recent comment! I forgot to mention in the liner notes that I found out about Wyatt Ordung through a book i'm reading about the aforementioned "Robot Monster" movie - it's the one (in)famous for having a man in a gorilla suit with a space helmet on it for the monster.

  • @redlady8029  Feb 21

Thanks for the comment and loving the hook. I love Toni Braxtion---Love me some him also. Open to collaboration. I will listen to your songs as well thanks.

  • @ferry0123  Feb 21

  • @davewermers Feb 21

Thanks for listening to and commenting on "I'll Always Have Time for You".

  • @timfatchen  Feb 20

Hi Val! Thanks for the comment (and smile) on "Death Spoke To Me" and I've come to reassure you (as one whose ghosts of mistakes past and present parade in serried ranks to mock me each night...) that your old Lit. teacher will not haunt you at all, or at least, not for this. The specific trope "Three times Death spoke to me" I thought had to be entrenched and actually searched (anal retentive paranoia on my part), and it's not. There are lots of Three times trophes, wiht St Peter and the cockcrow being the best known, and I found one (1) fanfiction "Three times death spoke to Sherlock"! Fascinating.

This FAWM is a disaster for me in lots of directions. Hope you're stilla round in March 'cos I'm missing my listening fix. And I'm gonna cheat then and kick collabs along...!

  • @aeye Feb 20

Apparently we did more with a piano note then I knew was possible lol. Glad you liked it!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 20

Thanks Val for your nice comments!

  • @berni1954  Feb 19

Thanks for your comment on my song "Her Lesbian Mood". I agree, it is still not possible in some contexts to come out openly. I lived for 30 years in a small town in the interior with a population of some 5,000 people. So, based on the infamous "1 in 10" theory there shoudl have been about 500 LGBT people. But I only knew about a dozen people who were open about their sexual preferences. The others, like my protagonist, probably kept it as a secret. We still have a long way to go before people's sexual preferences don't even lift an eyebrow in the greater population.

  • @barbara  Feb 19

Nothing wrong with an Appalachian-sounding love song! (My guitar likes to pretend it’s a dulcimer, so I go along with it.)

  • @ferry0123  Feb 19

Thanks for the listen, Valerie. It was good to read your comment.

  • @resonut123 Feb 18

Thanks for the comment on my song: Come Back Baby

  • @cindyrella  Feb 18

Thanks Val. Yes. I do think maybe that verse should have been the chorus.

  • @delwoodworks  Feb 18

Thanks for commenting on β€œEasier”. That one is dear to my heart. Happy FAWMing!

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 17

Thank you for your kind comments on my song, "Wash Me Clean"!

  • @wacha  Feb 15

The harmonica on Woman to Woman was missing. I didn't notice the WAV file was removed from my project. So you are right, there was one in there but there is now.

  • @tan482 Feb 14

Thanks for listening and for your lovely comment πŸ˜€

  • @scottsimpsonmusic  Feb 13

Thanks so much for the generous comments. Much appreciated!

  • @wacha  Feb 11

I bet if you look hard enough you can find some wild, lesbian parties on the bayou. There is harmonica during the instrumental break, it's not super elaborate and I have it low in the mix.

  • @teapot Feb 11

Thanks for such a lovely comment Val πŸ˜€

  • @cindyrella  Feb 10

    Thanks Val 😊

  • @mishykatz  Feb 10

Thank you for the listen and comment on Something from Nothing! It is one of my fave themes too!

  • @s7even  Feb 10

Thank you for checking it out! And thank you for the compliments. I’m a sucker for reverb specially when it’s fitting.
we’ve all been through hard times. I’m stronger from it for sure. the β€œwhat if’s” just get me once in a while. It’s part of life.
Thank you again for listening 😊

  • @berni1954  Feb 9

Thanks for the comment on "I Brought it on Myself"

That ukulele is not only a tenor, it is strung with a low "G" so it doesn't have the high re-entrant string so typical of the "standard" Ukulele set up.

  • @kevinemmrich  Feb 9

Getting a late start this year -- but percentage wise I am infinitely better than last year! I hope you are having a great fawm.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 7

Ha! Smart women I wrote it with a 6/8 meter in my head! Glad you heard that!

  • @kadmad202  Feb 7

Thanks so much for the nice words for Kindness! Hummingbear writes great lyrics, doesn't she? Appreciate you listening.

  • @billwhite51 Feb 6

regarding the issue of prolific writing. in six days i have written 2000 words. that is half if my minimu output as a journalist for a daily newspaper. and one quarter of what i produce when writing a serious longterm project such as a nove or memoir, so ny rigress so far has not beenm in y view, proific. i remember what lou reed recounted to me when andy warhol asked him how many songs he wrote that week. lou replied "ten," andy responded,'Lyou are very lazy. you need to work harder, you are not going to be young forever." it the past three years i have abandoned myy other writing projects because i an only work in randon spirts m as i have a baby daughter to care for, but i manage at least 100 songs a year, and i know i should be working much harder.

  • @meatcoup85  Feb 6

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 5

Thanks Valerie! BTW, I do like the song...i got a bit caught up with my story and failed to mention that your song and message is well delivered.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 4

What happens in New Orleans, stays in New Orleans....

  • @ampersandman  Feb 3

Thanks for listening Val! Have a great FAWM!

  • @cowex  Feb 3

Hey! Thanks for the listen. I think it took about 7-8 hours to 'poo. Definitely not an efficient use of time. The largest chunks are probably taken up by lyric-writing, finding the right sounds, and vocal cleanup. The "Joey" song after it took like 3 hours, and it's just a 1 minute song. Not sure if this approach is sustainable πŸ˜€.

  • @cindyrella  Feb 3

    Thanks Val!πŸ˜„

  • @tiller2  Jan 2020
