Artist Bio

Influences:   Radiohead, Pixies, Beck, Belle and Sabastian, Carter USM, Yello, Death Cab for Cutie, The Kinks, The The, Everything Everything, Villagers, Beth Orton, Nirvana, Basement Jaxx, Blur...

I've been in four bands, the last being The Terrans, a minimal alt-rock combo. Very noisy, very fun. ! have sung with choirs for years in all kinds of venues, from the streets of Edinburgh to Notre Dame. This new 'album' I aim to be underproduced and epic.

Yes! I also evolved from garageband to logic this year. What a challenge and now it feels ‘normal’

Thank you for listening. Yes! It is generic and the lyrics still scrambled eggs: DYK ‘Yesterday’(Beatles) was first ‘Scrambled Eggs’?! So sky should rhyme with lie or high or deny or something... you are right

That'll be the 14. I had half a demo of Dignity in tatters and about 2 other sets of lyrics and 4 other started projects - but for now, it's time to spend more time doing life stuff. I learnt a lot during this process. The key thing is you don't need much to produce a track. Also moving from garageband to logic and back is very easy!

Six songs up, not including the collab on Kite Hill (which turned out very well). I have bits and the start of all the songs, the trick is getting them recorded and out. I have some extra time set aside for this and managed to write two songs yesterday and do the vocals for a third. I now have a spreadsheet to keep a track of where I am with the songs! Getting sets of lyrics up is the easy part. Let’s see how it goes.

Thanks for your comment on my lyrics "Cloudless Sky". I mean the comment "Maybe more Belle and Sabastian/Postal service." I'll take that as a big positive.

    Thanks for your comment!

I know exactly what you mean re: ukes!

Our collab is up, as I write in the liner notes I had ambitions for a more fancy production, but has been really hard to find time, focus and inspiration this FAWM. So it ended up a bit rougher than I hoped, but you get the idea of what I am/was aiming for.

The first sets of lyrics are up. I'm up to songs number 7 in terms of parts. 5 have parts recorded but I have a big gap in terms of getting something both written and recorded. I may get all the lyrics up before a single recording!

Hi Stew cool that you came up with some lyrics, you can send me the lyrics by mail. There's a mail icon on my profile. I'm working hard on finishing 4 songs at the moment, so won't be able to start writing until the weekend.

    Oh hi Stew
Due to a quirk of how the site is set up, people don't get a notice when you tag them on your own soundboard (or in the comments section of your songs, as I discovered during my first FAWM)
Since I usually write tunes and lyrics that lean towards being melancholic, trying to write something based round lyrics that are happy, positive and uplifting would be a nice change. But hey I'm flexible.
Style, hmm, what I write usually end up being something, I at least think of as being psych/folk/indie/alt rock.
Hopefully I'll post some songs in the coming days that will give you a rough idea of my "style".

@w1n Hi, good question. I can start with lyrics and to make this easier. I'm not counting this towards my 14 so name a style, a theme/subject and a mood and that'll give me a good place to start and maybe fit in with what else you were going to write.

    Hi Stew
We've been matched up in the random collaboration challenge.
Don't know how you prefer to approach the collaboration? Should we should start with you writing the lyrics and then I write the music?

Wassup Stew! Hope you have a rollicking good time 😁 Your part of London sounds lovely 😋
