Hey there, no I’m going to send it tomorrow. I just got bogged down with too many things!
Hey Steven thanks for your great comment on my song I’m in Love...yeah, that was all 4-track, and while I do a lot of bouncing most times that one was just a straight 4 tracks. Which might be part of why that sounded really good! Since the more bouncing you do the muddier it tends to get...
I guess I have a few songs on my wall. But you do too! 😁
Cheers Steven! That's the Omnichord that comes in on the chorus. Definitely one of those sounds that can evoke nostalgia within seconds!
yay for the 14. I keep getting sidetracked getting to old watchlisted folks from long ago.
Ha! right? Thanks dude. I actually time shifted by 1 second too since I thought 32 seconds might be too much over the line!
I love the Jack Black picture you've been giving to the riffs hahaha. Thanks for the support.
\m/ Thanks dude. Yeah! All my songs are acoustic in "dropped D turned down 1/2 step" or dropped C#. Listening to this riff again kinda reminds me of Testament's Demonic Refusal, which is a good thing! Thanks for listening, and good luck to you in round one of the badassriff contest!
Hahaaa, thanks man! Love the baddass riff approved photo you made me laugh! I enjoyed it! was worth the pressure! Waiting for the results mate, may the best WIN~!
Thank you for listening Steven! It sure was fun playing around in that old sandbox!😁 This has been a very educational Fawm for me! Enjoy the playtime dude!
Very cool that you were all in the same room with your Text Pistols songs. The recordings were really great. Thanks for the nice words on my tunes too.
Thanks SWG for your kind words on "Cape". You made me happy, and I'm not just saying that as a phrase. Fawm on!
Hey, good point about Johnny-Cashing that song. Must ponder.
Indeed, Steven. 😉
I also locked it to build suspense and add to the excitement around the whole thing. "Did he go acoustic, or didn't he?" 😂😎😉🎸
Thank you for your supportive words.
Me to sir! Lets do it!! Gonna be fun.
Thanks for checking out a few of my songs! Appreciate it.
I record using Garageband. Plug my fender strat straight into my laptop, and record two tracks panned hard right and left. My fender jazz bass is also plugged straight in and I record two bass tracks with different plugins in each to create that thick dirty bass.
the drums are the automated GB drummer, that I tweak.
The mercurial and prolific Mr Gee - we meet again!
Here's how *I* saw it. Feel free to hear it differently, lol
4x Chorus (ride with different fills)
4x Verse 2
4x Chorus (ride with different fills)
4x Bridge (fast tom part)
4x Verse 3
4x Chorus (ride with different fills)
Thanks for the welcoming comment! Took the advice and added a lil bit of info to my bio 😀 Good luck this month!
Sent you an answer, but I'll say it here too. My bad - I totally forgot to write down (for all my tapes) what I did to help the next person. I did actually play a pattern for the one you got. Any chance you could MP3 that track and send it to me? I can interpret what I did. 😀
I had an idea. What if what one weekend day I come over and we collab on some songs? I bet we can write and record 2 in a day. Yes I invited myself over. 😀
Oh, AWESOME! Thanks so much for checking out our album. I'm so glad you liked it!! 😀
PS. The drums are programmed. A mix of the alt-rock kit in SD3 and some Steven Slate stuff (cymbals, toms, some snare layering)
The bad-ass riffs are back, baby!
It's a fake double track - one guitar, split to two different amp sims, one of which has a small delay in front of it. I figured I didn't have time to record tight double tracks 😀
Il loving your instagram stuff and youtube stuff. I would be honored to collab with you, for sure. Hit me up with what you'd need from me and let's do something. Thanks for asking. That really means a lot to me.
Re: Steal your thunder - everything was DD's, apart from a very simple bassline for the intro and verses. I didn't want the funky bassline going throughout, but it sounded weird without. I couldn't be bothered to plug my bass guitar in, so put on a synth preset called "Blue Sunday" partly because the name amused me (but also because I figured Peter Hook sound would work 😀
Glad you like the gear pics. I've got even more this year - it's kind of an illness but I've curbed it a bit now. Definitely going to have to check out your tunes.
Dude! already 5 songs!!! WTF! are you going for a new record of FAWM songs for a year? You are an inspiration... and a mad man!!!
Thanks for the thoughts on "Suicide City." And as for Nada Surf "Always Love"...one of my favorites!
Sure - no probs. Email the track over with notes of what you’d like. Flute, clarinet, alto / tenor / Bari sax available
THanks for checking out “Dreams Creep”, the drums are EZ Drummer, my crutch. I threw PSP Vintage Warmer on the drums after you reminded me of it a few days ago! And holy crop, you’ve got FOUR songs done!
ha, thanks- and yes, i'll work on a lyric! 😀 great to see ya here again!
Nice to see you too!! 😀
.. not even surprised that you already have 2 songs up. Lol! Professional fawm champion.
Thanks for your comments. Let the music move you.
Hell yes! The best values in ROCK! Have fun dude!
Haha awesome, I’ve been practically living inside rdr2! Thinking of writing a little camp-fire inspired ditty 😁
Sounds good to me!
I'd love to collaborate. I write music about 20x more easily than lyrics. I'm down to either leverage that preference or challenge that handicap. What's the best method for you?
I can't wait to see what he comes up with... LOL
sounds good fella. You working in Logic?
Hope to make the party...I got scared off by rain last year..you know us soft southern cal people!!
Hey there...Southern California representing!
Hei Steve, I am excited what you show this year 😀
Thanks for the note, and I hope you have a great year as well!
Guess who's back. Love you, brother.
Hullo, good sir. Always a pleasure to hear you FAWM 😀
*waves* - hi SWG! 😀
Thank you 🖤
EVERY TIME YOU EAT THEM
A PANDA GETS ITS WINGS.
I love you Stevey. Thank you for welcoming me to this community in person 10 years ago when I was just a lowly street urchin known as Xach the Ripper.
Every year I have to repopulate my watchlist from scratch for some reason, and I get a sensible out of your avatar photo *every time*
No, YOU owe ME a duck! Wait, maybe I didn't read that right... Either way, ducks all around!
Btw, I sent 2 120 minute type 1 for trying out things and a type 2 60 min for when you get where you want to be recording-wise.
Any chance we might go collabing again this year?
Like to hear some of that Sesame Street influence this year!
Hey Steven, we're gonna rock it out this year.
Heck yeah, man! I'm pumped for this and I'm excited to see what you come up with as well.
Nice to see someone else showing Elliott some love. 😀
Yooo!! Welcome back and happy FAWM!
Just email me your address and I will get them out. They are 120 minutes each. Remember when you could dub 2 albums on one tape??? Hehe.
Got it, thanks! Four-track fun imminent!
I'm gathering mailing addresses for the 4-track challenge. Please email me yours (click through my profile) and I'll get you on the list. Thanks!
Well, I think that high bias tapes will be better and you can generally get those for $2-5 per. But, you can also look for bulk online and they sell 15 minute tapes for about $0.60-0.80 per. That being said, I find mine on Craigslist and at garage sales because I don’t do loads of 4track recording outside of FAWM. I liked your idea of going in and buying more as a FAWM consortium. I just don’t know if the shipping would be cost prohibitive. Just get anything quickly to get practicing with it. It’s pretty easy with a tascam.
A wise choice. Easy to use, too!
Hey, hi, hello! Looking forward to hearing all you do this year. Happy FAWMing!!
Hey, good to see you! Happy FAWM, let's make 4-tracks!
Hey there! So what 4 track did you get? That’s great to have you joining us! Happy FAWM to you!
Thanks! I couldn't remember your pseudonym for it
Hello! I tried to find your Minecraft songs recently and failed to do so - do you have a link to them?
SWG! Glad you're back. Happy Fawming!
Hey look, I know you! How you been, you sly dawg? Ooh, a man who's influences namedrop both Bon AND Iver.
Yay yes FAWM #3 for me yes 😀 So excited for February every year now
Sorry for multiple posts, lol, biab is very simple to use or as complex as you want to make it. It has lots of neat things like melodyne and vodocoders, chord utilities, neat stuff. When I was in the facebook group, I used BIAB and stagelight for all my accompaniment. Again, thank you for asking. 😁😁
I have the spotify links and amazon links on my profile. Time to let you go is the jazz ep. Band in a box is amazing, and i'm working with an older version. I put it in reaper for the vocals and mixing. Thanks for asking. 😁😁
Hi there, the jazz is original, composed with Band in a Box. I released one EP of original jazz using BiaB. Glad you like the channel and how may I be of service?
Oooo... I like the “Fortnite is dead” angle.
Maybe you’ve started a new genre!
Ess double-you gee!! Mister.
I predict (and hope) for a Fortnite inspired effort from your fine self. Maybe moniker it "Mr F"?!?
Have another great one sir 😀
Heya, Applehead. Here's to FAWM!
Hello shouting, shaking fist man. I’m sure you’re not as scary as you look 😮
Seriously excited to hear your music. Let's do this thing... 😀
Glad you are back, yay for the songs to come...
Cheers and all the best in FAWM 2019!
