Artist Bio

Influences:   mainstream jazz

ZeCoop's and Guatecoop's dad. Occasionally provide lyric ideas for them. 83 yr old with no musical talent other than buying instruments and paying for lessons for my offspring. Retired. Have a great marriage of more than 62 years to my high school sweetheart.

I first started writing lyrics in 2011 when I heard ZeCoop was going to do this crazy challenge, and I just kept writing more. I officially started participating and posting lyrics to FAWM in 2018 and have enjoyed the collaborations with the musicians, as well as the supportive and friendly community here. Would like to look into collaborations (lyrics from me - music from you) with others.

You can hear collaborations from previous years on my Bandcamp page:

wow that sounds amazing!! well hopefully one day not too far off we will all be free to roam and travel again and would love to visit. Stay safe all of you .

  • @karlsburg25  Mar 20

My pleasure and i am still amazed and in awe of what you all do as a family. It is truly beautiful and i know its been a massively tough time but to produce what you all have is a testament to how creativity can be so healing. Once this self isolation business is dealt with I hope to meet you all on one of my many trips.

  • @scubed  Mar 14

Thanks very much for your comment on “Jupiter is Rising in the Morning”!

  • @aneil Mar 5

What a Legend ! So many lyrics written so many collaborations ! Bless you friend and thx for giving my album a listen!

  • @cynthiawolff  Feb 29

May I attempt song #33 Young Man Grown?
Something came right away...I’m itching to go and I will and when you give the word I’ll post it for my song 14..c

  • @cynthiawolff  Feb 29

My absolute pleasure to collab with you...
I still sing the song to myself as I putter around the house...
    It’s a keeper for sure..
Thanks Mr, Cooperider...let’s do it again next year..
    Warm regards,

  • @gordon  Feb 27

It really is a pleasure to try to put your lyrics to music, mostly because they are nice and short and paint such a vivid picture. I'm very happy that we can work together like this, it also makes FAWM a good experience for me:)

  • @aneil Feb 27

@srcoops I'll give it a go won't be done by end of feb but will keep you updated my email is

  • @ductapeguy Feb 26

Thanks again for a fun collab. I use ductapeguy all over the internet because about 25 years ago I wrote a song about duct tape, and it stuck.

  • @chipwithrow  Feb 22

Regarding how to add me as a collaborator - For League Park, you must have added me, and the way you did it was by clicking edit on the song page and scrolling down to where you can add a collaborator. It looks like you did the same with your collab with Nancy, which is why those didn't show up in your song list as two separate songs (original lyric, then collab).
For your others, the collaborator posted and added you as the other collaborator, which is why they show up as two different songs. Hope this helps - I'm going to finish Old Dog later today.

  • @chipwithrow  Feb 21

Hi - if you add me as a collab on Old Dog,I'll give it a go on guitar and banjo!

  • @ustaknow Feb 14

Hahhh, yes, most people don't 😀

Anyway, after letting it sit, and coming back to listen to it "cold", it's not good (my music efforts for the "Soldier" lyric).

I don't work a normal job, and late night these 10 min writes I do, do not always sound the same the next day 😀 hahhh, -- which is why I wait. And, that is a FAWM thing!

So, the Soldier lyrics will have to soldier on, into someone else's musication.

Thanks for letting me give it a try, -- it was fun anyway.

-- And, happy "Valentines" day to you and your wife, family!

  • @ustaknow Feb 13

You said, "In regards to "Soldier", go for it... ...", on my Soundboard.

If not, put that on my board by mistake, or simply changed your mind, -- that's OK... I can, if you want, -- completely write yours out, and still reference that I was inspired by yours to then write my own.

-- Either way, just let me know.

  • @ustaknow Feb 13

Oh my, 3 posts in a row here, and I don't even know you -- hahhh; well, I'd rather not leave anyone guessing, and not knowing if may bother them, -- I've had friends, "here" even, 3 - days go by and "that's a problem" 😀 It seems a day is a week in FAWM time sometimes.

-- So, last night, did a re-write of your Lyrics, and got a melody, with chord progression evolved; nice for me since all occurred very quickly, (10 mins maybe). So, during lunch, because I can, -- I put down a first-pass, one-take, dry track which I really try to stick too for many reasons. And, now doing the same with the rest, -- first-pass, one-take overdubs to build up some "dimension" to the track.

That means, depending on how I feel about it, I may wait a bit, to listen "cold" and to make sure I don't embarrass myself, or -- just put it up. I try not to pile stuff into it, -- like soup, you can put in just a bit to much, then it's not good anymore.

  • @ustaknow Feb 13

OK, -- having a look at that one tonight, to see if anything falls in on me. Sometimes it does, sometimes I have to slam my hand in a drawer 😀 kidding, kidding... anyway, we'll see. I don't want a "cliche", so that's pushing in as what not to do.

  • @ustaknow Feb 11

Happy FAWM2020, just getting around to other folks here.

  • @aneil Feb 11

Hi friend the demo for girl with the voice is up

  • @sjbatavia  Feb 10

Just posted The Hills are Calling.I took the liberty of using your lyrics as a basis and inspiration for the rest of the song! I'm pretty happy with it.

  • @judypie  Feb 10

I saw on your profile! 😀 I hope I get to spend that long with mine <3

  • @woolford Feb 9

    Ok! Thank you kindly

  • @judypie  Feb 9

Thank you, just working on it now, shall I email it to you prior, or just upload? I had to tweak the lyrics, tried to change as little as I could to make it fit!
