So I finally released my first solo album, consisting of the best of my prior fawms, in the middle of lockdown. It's called Please Lower Your Expectations and I'm dead proud of it. It's blues, it's punk, it's noise, it's funk? It's got slide guitar all over it. It's my favourite thing I've done musically.

Also my old band Z Stacks finally put out our superlative second album that we recorded six years ago.

This time around I’m looking to round out the songs I’ve already accumulated with a few numbers on a theme. I’ve not got a plan but I do have a vague outline of a story.
“In an alternative future a crew of jobbing cosmonauts blast off from baikonur spaceport on an industrial mission to found outposts in the outer planets. An accident flings them into deep space far beyond where humans have travelled, there they encounter a being called the Star Child, inconceivably ancient, benevolent and wise, But terrifying in turn to base humans. Will they embrace the chance of nirvana offered them, or give in to fear...?”
So, as @sailingmagpie said, I've gone Full Hawkwind this year. Adding a dose of junkyard psychedelia to the mix. We'll see how well this pans out. Stuff that's meant for the concept album will be prefixed "THE WRONG STUFF"

Yo dude. FAWM going down for the year today so I just wanted to say thanks and sorry I couldn't comment or listen on your other stuff. Keep on making music. Be well.
I've just now read your list of influences 🤣 Hank III is criminally underrated IMO. Could sound/write just like his grandpa if he wanted to and does on occasion, but that is by no means my favorite stuff of its. It's usually when at a show he says, alright if you showed up to hear some cuntry now its time to GTFO! 😁 It's usually before the first song hahaha.
Thanks!
Is your wrong stuff EP all in order here? Will probably get to listening as a whole tomorrow.
Well at least your child woke up to some awesome music :-p.
Thanks for the listens!
Hey - thank you for your comments this year - I'm really sorry I've not been able to keep up but now it's MALM and I can't wait to get into The Wrong Stuff.
Up now! Thanks again for your blessing to sample "Happy Noam Chomsky Day"
https://fawm.org/songs/123831/
Hey you! I’ve started building on a fun concept for the syn on Auntie Sin, buuuuuut it takes some small samples from “Noam Chomsky Day”. Would that be alright with you?
I’m going to reach out a few different ways given time is of the essence.
Just listened to the punk #tenbyten. I don't know if you do this style often or not, but you should! Loved your voice on this!
Hey thanks for the comments on GTFO.
Sometimes things just flow out....
Hello Spike Direction,
I set "Mon Petit Ange" to music. I hope I did it justice. Please check it out!
Take care,
Laura Dishong
Hahhh, thank you, 😀 I am glad you Saw that song 😀
Regarding "Son Of Pancho Villa," you're brave but have a go at it anyway.
Thanks for your nice comment. Been working hard on that evil laugh . Happy it panned out well.
I think it was maybe one too many Butthole Surfers shows that finally did my hearing in. The last one I went to I was even prepared with earplugs(not like they helped muffle anything) and ears still rang for 3 days hahahahaha, worth it though. I never got to see Motorhead, have heard live albums though I'm sure that was amazing.
Cheers for the slothcore love!! I need to check out what's been happening while I've been away 😁
Thank you for the comment on Into The Morning Fray. Yeah, I'm a loop fiend. Been looping since I first got my hands on a DigiTech JamMan years ago. Now I use the Mobius VST, but it's still tons of fun.
See You In The Shadows…
That's very kind of you, thank you. 😀
Easily a tie for my favorite "drum" track I've heard so far in fawm haha @jeustan had some really nice pot and pan percussion I also quite enjoyed 😁
Oh, that's not good! I never look at Facebook anymore, now I see that's six days ago! You should have given me a short note that you sent it to me. I downloaded the file now but it is running 1:08, so I suppose you sent me the complete file instead of the snippet. So I work with this now. Too much time has passed.
Hi! Sorry bothering you, but I hope you don't forget to send me your snippet for the Exquisite Corpse...
Ja, but not ahead of time! Slow is the best new fast! Always be on the back of things... ya know?
Thx for extending the story though.
:]
Thank you for the comment.
Thanks! I spent way more time on that last #slothcore than I intended to. Definitely not my usual MO, especially for fawm(spending that much time on any one thing). You're clipping right along yourself. I love how the sloth songs tied into your overarching concept as well that I'm intrigued to hear once completed.
Thanks for your kind words on Burning The Midnight Oil. I can't believe this whole #slothcore thing has taken off. It's kinda surreal. Gonna make time to catch up on the #slothcore songs here. I'm loving what I've heard from others so far. And great idea for the Compilation album! We need to put that together post-FAWM.
See You In The Shadows…
Thank you for the comment on "Jokivarsi"! I just added a translation of the lyrics.
LOL! I love the pic. Thanks!
See You In The Shadows…
Yeah, we're fortunately not in lockdown, but the shops are still obstacle courses. Like, yesterday someone sideswiped my trolley. Very annoying.
Thank you so much for the comment on Losing Control. It was fun to make.
See You In The Shadows…
Excellent shout! Tagged it 😁
thanks for reviewing "Write Me A Letter." Appreciate your input.
Bloody hell, give us chance, it’s only the second of Feb 😁 Hehe glad it didn’t disappoint. We have a whole program of entertainment planned 😛
Thanks! It's my best vocal recording so far. Spent a good deal of the last 12 months learning to sing better. 😀
Thanks! and yeah I think you'd love it just as much as I do. I'm just barely starting to scratch the surface of what its all capable of, most everything can be done post.... in a DAW or more specifically a tracker program like Jeskola buzz that @candle makes excellent use of would be the closest you could get to doing it "live"
http://www.redpandalab.com/products/tensor
but yeah its pricey. I've only got one guitar I've paid more money for than that hahah.
I love me some gear, but I'd want to slap someone that called me a gearhead 😁 The term only brings to mind pretentious and pompous know-it-alls to me hahah.
Thanks about the nutty tape effect. After that spiel I'll admit I spent wayyyyy too much on a pedal I had planned on just using for a month or so and sending it back, but I've already fallen in love. It's replaced all my old tape machines and can do a live reverse/pitch shifts and all sorts of magical things. I might have to sell a kidney if there's any takers, but I think I'll be hanging onto it hahah.
Thanks for your comments! I love the Replacements especially the Tim album so they're certainly a great influence of mine.
Thanks for the feedback, man! I've never listened to The Wildhearts; sounds like I need to start. Any songs/albums you'd recommend?
Thanks! I didn't want to post it there and be presumptuous as I'm only vaguely familiar with some silvermachine noise over the years,(I have a terrible memory most of the time) but what I do remember I always enjoyed and approved of the craziness 😁
Hey Spike Direction, many thanks for your comment on Charlie Went Fishing I appreciate it! Kurtis did an awesome job on it!
Hiya and thanks for your comment on my Stretch lyrics 😁
Cheers for the seed song, I’m Onto it’s “anti”
Thanks for your kind words on "Rest in Pieces". 😀
Hi! Looking forward your snippet for the Exquisite Corps! 😀
Greets from Germany,
Volker
I'm a sucker for Looney Toons and slide guitar so I was won over instantly hahaha!
That Bentley Hop tune/video you posted was magnificent! 😁 I enjoyed that quite a bit!
Right on 😀 I’m looking at your list of influences and I definitely think we’re into a similar vibe, totally lookin forward to hearing what ya write this FAWM!
Good fawming to you! Twice ha ha
Good fawming to you!
Happy new FAWM!
Thanks for the note. It's good to see you around. And I've already started listening to your tunes on the spotify. I love that raunchy feel.
Yo! Right back at ya with a ditto!
Good to see you're back too! Sounds like you're going full Hawkwind this year!
Wooooooorddd! Happy Fawm ‘21! 😃
And a happy FAWM to you as well!
Great theme! Can't wait!
Happy FAWMing to you as well!
Great concept there!
(Although I misread it as "an accordion flings them into deep space..." 😀 )
