Oh shit! My wife's having a baby sometime in February. The little monster is due on the 22nd so fully prepared to not win and indeed barely participate this year, but I'll still have a go.
I'm other news I started a band to play my good songs from previous FAWMs, we've recorded a few and they'll probably be released by the time FAWM starts this year.

*Update* Go me! I hit fourteen and there's still three days to go until Mrs Direction gets induced! The album didn't come out when I wanted because the artwork is taking longer than expected, but I'm prepared to wait, I've seen what he cooking and it's lovely.

Thanks for listening to Simulation and THANK YOU so much for mentioning Roger Waters in the same paragraph as my song! My favorite Pink Floyd album is actually Roger's Amused To Death!!!

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 22

Actually, we will first release a single so if you would be so kind as to give us your bank account and debit card numbers we can deduct the $99 for a 128MP3 of a 30 second song about flies.

  • @judypie  Feb 22

Hehehehhe thankyou! EP coming soon! I want to sign you up to the mailing list but fuck, I donโ€™t know how to set up a mailing list!

  • @silvermachine  Feb 21

I meant to say well done earlier on getting the 14 out before the baby's due.
I hope the birth goes like clockwork, and wish you and your wife well for the big occasion.

  • @erelpi10  Feb 21

Thanks for your insight into Sophia, Really helpful to hear how other people are hearing it. And ideas for further exploration.
Also, who doesn't LOVE the Pixies?!!!!

  • @silvermachine  Feb 21

Acoustic? Nothing acoustic on that track, only my equivalent of your bargain blues machine. I bought it in 1970 for ยฃ18 new. Learnt on it, but when I started in bands was told it wouldn't do and to get something better. Lent it to a friend who had it for donkeys years . He finally gave it back to me in 2017!! I picked it up and thought wow this is what I need, stuck the expensive guitars in the back of the wardrobe , changed my name to silvermachine and haven't played another guitar since. It's got incredible tones and playability. It's a one pickup Zenta.

  • @digg35 Feb 20

    Thanks for the comment.

  • @judypie  Feb 20

    Filth? Where?! ๐Ÿ˜œ

  • @resonut123 Feb 20

Thanks for the comment on my song: Some Things.
The synth noises are from an old Casio Keyboard triggering an old Oberheim Matrix 1000 rack module. Fun stuff.

  • @judypie  Feb 18

    ๐Ÿ˜ Thanks for listenzzzzzz

  • @resonut123 Feb 17

Thanks for the comment on my song: Glass

  • @ceilidh  Feb 17

Thanks for your feedback on Night Terror. Cello sounds like it might be an interesting background!

  • @tippergore Feb 17

Thank you for some of your comments!

  • @rayboneor  Feb 15

I'm glad I could get The Fourth One lodged in your brain; that's all I ever want to do. When I first recorded my bad demo for that that song, the one Vom used to make his transcendent track, I thought to myself, "You know, this song would be cool speeded up and supercharged with lacerating slide guitar." I wasn't familiar with the spiked direction effect at that time.

  • @sbs2018 Feb 12

Thanks so much for your input on "Daydreams." I really appreciate knowing what others like about my music.

  • @rayboneor  Feb 12

Thanks for the comments! I agree, I definitely think the Mission Impossible lyric is smarter than I am. It's doing its own thing

  • @rainchaser  Feb 11

Thanks for explaining your set-up! Excellent set-up btw!! At first when I heard the guitar, I thought it was a Fender, I was surprised it wasn't! Not sure if it was the amp or the resonator cone that resulted those Fender-y bell-like tones!! Another thought might of been the neck pickup which is a Fender-like pickup! Not too surprised the amp being a Fender but I wasn't expecting it to be a cheap solid state one!! Btw are the speakers stock?

  • @sbs2018 Feb 10

    Thanks for your comment onโ€Daydreams.โ€

  • @radioovermoscow Feb 9

I love The Wall, even the angry second half no one else does ๐Ÿ˜ Thanks!

  • @silvermachine  Feb 7

Haha, well I enjoyed that solo and would rather listen to that than the cliched blues solo by numbers shit most bluesers play.

  • @bradbrubaker  Feb 7

I like where your imagination went during "Marimba & Distorted Bass." ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @yam655 Feb 6

I wanted to note that small children can work with songwriting. All you need to do is incorporate them in to the process. This means singing songs to them when they're tiny, (think acapella stuff while holding them), and later letting them help you pick what you'll sing about.

I recommend getting a handy recorder like the Zoom H1 or something, so when the wee one gets older, you'll be able to just hand the mic to them so they can record their own song. It's super fun to take turns singing songs with kids.

  • @radioovermoscow Feb 6

Checking out Darkest of the Hillside Thickets now, and yeah - I can hear it! Thanks

  • @leakyplusme2 Feb 6

Yes Spike i am looking for a collaboration on Dead Shit City
    Mick

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 6

Spike, Thanks for reviewing "It Takes A Lot Of Dough".

  • @toms Feb 5

I am indeed and saw him post Rationals. Hugely cool that you know about him. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @frozenlonesome Feb 5

Thanks for listening and commenting on Fish. Funny that you used the movie for a video. TBH, I havenโ€™t watched it yet, just converted the file to mp3 for sampling. Glad you enjoyed the track.

  • @sw1n3flu  Feb 5

Hahah thanks for the tan van man comment made me chuckle

  • @toms Feb 5

Scott Morgan of the Rationals, etc.? Thank you!!!

  • @cnidaria Feb 2

Thanks for your comment on Guess I Didnโ€™t Love You. The full story of trying to rule the town is far too long and convoluted to recount here but I will say that it involved hypnosis and a coffee shop that was starting to become a bit culty.

  • @bamsekarhu Feb 2

I'll try to get as many done as possible! Quite a busy spring with the band, but we'll see!

    And likewise ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @cnidaria Feb 1

Hey! Thanks for checking in. I might not FAWM quite as hard this year as I have for the past few, but I'll be around and writing some stuff. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @srcoops  Feb 1

Thank you for your kind comments on My Son

  • @seemanski  Feb 1

Thanks for your feedback, I would love to do all my vox on the bog. I fear my 4 year old might start making random appearances on my tracks if I do though. I was lucky she was out with my wife this morning.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 1

Fine with soundboard or Insta messages or emails.

  • @metalfoot  Jan 31

Hey! I guess we've been assigned for random collab, so have fun getting a lyric together for me to put music to. ๐Ÿ˜€

Here's hoping mini-Spike lets you get a few songs in first!

  • @sailingmagpie  Jan 17

Good to see you're back! And congrats on the mini Spike!

  • @sync  Jan 16

Good luck on fawm, bands, and babies!

  • @silvermachine  Jan 15

Wotcha mate, just watched your video, that is a luvverly noise!

  • @tcelliott  Jan 15

Ooh, congratz on the band.. oh, yeah, and on the baby. Double congratzies. I can't expect you'll be around too much, but glad you could make it back.
