I'm trying to kick myself out of a de-motivated slump 😭 Any help would be wonderful !
I would like to thank you very much for your kind comment!
Thanks so much for your comments on my skirmish song Have a Great Day. Once again, I really liked PTSD Girl a lot!
i did get your track. sorry i didn't respond last night. just started a new job that ends late and i'm still getting used to it. i listened to it a couple of times last night and then again this morning. if you have a chord chart for your guitar backing, that would be helpful as well. thanks!
well i can work various ways. i had a collaborator "in real life" that would write keyboard based stuff, but it had a typical AABA construction, or whatever, and i would listen to it and i would hear the vocal sounds which eventually led to words. i would sing the vocals over it, send him my tracks, and he would put what effects he wanted on my voice and send me the mix. i would always just put it in my DAW after that and add my main vocal back in, with no reverb, etc, and bring it up in the mix so you could just hear it.eventually he started putting a dry vocal in his mixes, like i had been doing, after i told him why my mix of his mix was always improved-- he was losing the presence of the vocals in reverb he added. that is one way we could work.
i have had success by having my partner give me a phrase or title they wanted realized in lyrics, and i did so.usually, the other person then took my lyric and realized the arrangement. i always get a first impression of any lyrics i write, in case i want to go back and see how i would have done it.
or we could figure out what instruments we have, and have technique on, and trade out adding and subtracting parts that we each put over it. kiss by prince was created as a full track, and prince stripped it down to the bare-bones hit it became. so there's that way.
i have turned other people's lyrics into songs, as well, and in person i can talk with someone about something that matters to them and write lyrics to express what i grasp of what they tell me.
any certain way that tickles your fancy?
I'm a geographer, I study the embodiment of transience. Working with Canadian musicians on tour for my PHD. I'm very interested in who we are becoming as we travel and move homes more frequently.
hey! first all, have the best FAWM!
when i get up enough people to pair lyrics and vocals, i will post the pairings on the thread, and you will be notified by a notice in your feed. this might be harder to see now that songs are coming out, depending on how many people you have watchlisted, so keep an eye out on the thread in the forums, just in case.
thanks for your interest.
Glad you're back!! 😀
Hey! Saw your reply on my forum post. I took a listen to your stuff and wow, I would totally love to collaborate with you! We could exchange emails and chat more about what we might like to do it if you'd like. Cheers
Hi Guys! I havent done FAWM in a few years but looking forward to getting my feet wet again!
