Josh was born and raised in DC, and likes to hang out with his friends and climb things in his spare time. He plays guitar, drums, bass, and some vocals in The Vico Cycle, a DC area band. He also runs an open mic 3rd Fridays of the month in Silver Spring, for which he writes a new song each month. He is weird. Normal is boring anyway.

2019: Feeling pretty uninspired and busy this year. I got my one song done for the open mic (Money from the sparks), but not sure how much more is doing this time; just not in the right headspace this year I think. Anything I do this year is more "eat your vegetables" songwriting to improve my craft, but it's feeling like more of chore, so less is more this year? Maybe? Dunno. Reading the forums may make me more inspired. We'll see.

    THANK YOU!!!!! Love it!!!!!

  • @renegadepriest Mar 29

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful comments on "Weekend in Central Texas." Austin was certainly a wild ride and I cherished every chilling and exhilarating moment. I still feel a rush of blesséd, haunting remembrance every time I return.

  • @cherok40  Mar 22

Thanks a lot for listening to "The Morning Mist" and your very, very kind comments! I appreciate it a lot!

  • @ayehahmur  Mar 19

Thanks for commenting on Team Photo, bud. I suppose I should thank those guys for the inspiration, but that might just get me invited into their happy band...and then I'd never leave.

  • @tiller2  Mar 18

Hi Josh, thanks so much for your comments on my "Success" song. I wrote the third verse (w/ "we can live like flowers in the field") just before your open mic--after Tim said he wanted to know more how the failure converted into a different kind of success. You have had an unconventional FAWM this year, but I sense a slow-motion win coming!

  • @zecoop  Mar 18

Yacht - actually could be the very first song I nearly threw in the garbage and didn't post for FAWM, but posted anyway. One of those, where did that come from, moments. 😉

  • @janeg  Mar 16

I wanted to thank you here as well for the music and demo for I'm Losing Things. I do really like reggae and love that a song of mine has been done, and done well, in that style.

  • @quork  Mar 14

I’d be happy to hear what you come up with. Honestly, I won’t go far with these lyrics this year.

  • @crisp1  Mar 11

Go for it! Looking forward to what you do with it, @siebass!

  • @quork  Mar 11

Re. The Tiger in the Zoo, fill your boots. I’ve been revisiting this, and agree the lyrics are tough. Are you interested in the chords/melody I came up with for the tiger refrain, or do you want to go with your interpretation?

  • @cherok40  Mar 9

Thank you very much for your kind comments!

  • @quork  Mar 9

Siebass, I appreciate you listening and commenting. My first three songs were a lot of fun. My family was out of town for the first five days and I was able to turn the top floor of my house into a recording studio. Each song was completely different in genre and singing style.

  • @kahlo2013  Mar 6

I would love it if you can do Forgotten How to Run... if you are up for it. I have others that are more rock punkish if you would prefer like:

Or here are a couple of others if you don’t like that one I posted below

Thanks so much! Here’s one that Is open that I think has potential:

  • @quork  Mar 5

Thank you for listening and commenting, much appreciated. “Plans” is based on a story told to me by a guy who when he was a kid stole a car and ran away with his younger sister. They broke into a toy store and loaded the car with stuffed animals. It always stayed with me, how bad things would have been for that to be a feasible option, and what escape would look like to them

  • @timfatchen  Mar 4

Fingerfood one-man show in the kitchen demo...now THAT'S an idea! I need to find a store mannequin going cheap for carving, mind you... I see you started posting songs as soon as I disappeared to sea, hope that the two weren't connected!

  • @crisp1  Mar 4

Thanks for the offer. I'd rather let you pick the one that strikes you, if there is one. And thanks for the comments on Something Doesn't Add Up. I always love collaborating with @wacha.

  • @jorh Mar 4

That would be great 😀 I was hoping this one would get music and really like your idea of a rap sung chorus! Feel free to edit lyrics as you see fit to work with the music

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 4

Thank you for your comment, you made me smile. My music is nowhere near Bowie As the world falls down but I can dream about being as good lol.

  • @wacha  Mar 4

Thank you for your kind words on "Something Doesn't Add Up". It's always a pleasure working with @crisp1.

  • @billwhite51 Mar 4

thank you for your comment on how do we get out. you are correct in assuming this is the bookend to how do i get in. after tht, theres nothing up here is a coda t the whole album. it is not that he is trying to escape death, he is just trying to find the road to the next station. hes already dead, but has no idea what comes next, and doesnt want to simply hang round in the graveyard with the other clueless ghosts.

  • @janeg  Mar 4

I would love to hear your take on I'm Losin Things.

  • @sunnymae  Mar 2

W Mine all Mine would be a radio station as if to say listen to your own voice. Like WABC or WPIX. I realize that would only work in the States, so if it's too obtuse I can tweak it.

  • @sunnymae  Mar 1

Yep... I didn't want to influence but I was definitely hearing something Jazzy as well. Have fun!

  • @ajna1960 Feb 28

Thank you re Blue Thoughts - I will add you as collab now 😀

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

I look forward to hearing what you come up with! 😀

  • @cicpisces Feb 26

@siebass Hey, thanks for the collab. Created a great atmosphere. Sounds good.

  • @pfoo  Feb 23

Thanks for your comments on my cicada song! I'm having a similar FAWM - I have other things on my mind, just not getting much creative inspiration right now.

Let me know if you post some music for the space song collab!

  • @cicpisces Feb 21

@siebass We could change the lyric to Million Miles in Space.

  • @cicpisces Feb 21

    @siebass
Happy for you to tweak the lyric. Away is as good as Space.

  • @cicpisces Feb 20

@siebass I've added a lyric. So see if that inspires you. Thanks.

  • @zecoop  Feb 18

Thanks for checking out the 10x10... The worm song was representing being scared, as the person realized it was a rattlesnake. 😉

  • @colgoo  Feb 18

Thanks for the listen and comments for “On the Other Side”.

  • @tiller2  Feb 18

Hey Josh, thanks for your thoughts on "The Simple Kind." I'll record it in a day or two, in a "blue-eyed soul" style, not far from do-wop. Good to see you.

  • @metalfoot  Jan 28

    Let's do this FAWM thing!

  • @petra777 Jan 24

    *waves*

  • @zecoop  Jan 15

Hope to see you back again!
