Rossland, BC CA   Dec 31

Artist Bio

Influences:   Gillian Welch, Pharis Romero, Brandy Clark, Nora Jane Struthers, Sturgill Simpson, John Prine, Eliza Gilkyson, Mary Gauthier, Iris Dement, Ola Belle Reed, Dolly Parton, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Hank Williams, etc etc!

I started writing songs when I was 51, after I got my then 51-year-old old J45, which kicked my ass to start taking music more seriously. I was delighted to find something new in life that I really loved doing. 2020 wasn't a music year for me, but I'm determined that 2021 will be, and am very excited to get back to focussing on songwriting.

March '21 - I'm really happy how my first FAWM all went, and very grateful for all the amazing comments, support and new friends! I've just signed up for Bandcamp and have uploaded one of my older songs. Will be now working on making better recordings of my new FAWM songs and uploading them as well. Exciting! https://shelleyackerman.bandcamp.com

You're welcome. Just say when it's ready.

  • @quork  2 weeks

Many thanks for your comment, Shelley. I was inspired by @jonmeta’s segment and very happy with the result.

  • @nadine 2 weeks

You're welcome! Good luck on the recordings

  • @sheilerk  2 weeks

Hi Shelly. I’ve been distracted by lots of things lately too. I listened to your songs because I was really enjoying them, no reciprocation necessary. 🙂 I hope I’ll get a chance to jump onto the 50/90 site and see you there 😊

  • @gm7  2 weeks

    PS Hello fellow Canuck

  • @gm7  2 weeks

    I will reciprocate. Thx

  • @coolparadiso  3 weeks

Hey im around. I dont have your email. Hope you get this.

  • @coolparadiso  5 weeks

Phew. Better not say anything else on that topic. I wondered what CA was.

  • @coolparadiso  5 weeks

I am 2400kms (1500 miles) north of home in North East Australia it 36 degrees Celsius somedays near your 100. No surfing here to many crocodiles.

  • @coolparadiso  5 weeks

Up to you on vocals. I like them as is but I admit i do re do my own sometimes. Yes I need separate wav files. I am not home for about 8 days so no rush. Send to this email please coolparadeeso@gmail.com

  • @coolparadiso  5 weeks

2 jump out that I could do things with sweet dreams of you, guitar and a few effects. Why did it have to be this way, steel pedal and a few frills. I don't think I can better the two hank style songs they are spot on. Happy to look at any if you like. We could even look at music for your one lyric.

  • @coolparadiso  5 weeks

Ha ha I don't always write real life. I don't surf these days but live not far from those surf beaches. 😀

  • @coolparadiso  6 weeks

2 things. 1 can I have one of your songs for my podcast. Songwriters and original Songs. Season 2 starts in a few weeks.

2 if you want some production or even extra instruments on any songs happy to help. Not an expert producer but getting better all the time and free is cheap 😀

  • @sailingmagpie  6 weeks

    Yeah, I can go for a tit4tat.

  • @gnashattack  6 weeks

@shelleroo1 I would love to do some #tit4tat but I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up with it. I'm kind of sticking to just paying back a listen for a listen, at this point...which is...kind of the same thing? Maybe? Maybe next year I'll be organized enough to keep track of the titting and tatting lol.

  • @nahlej381  6 weeks

Definitely down to tit4tat witcha! I’ll probably listen to the rest of ur stuff just listen to however much you can tolerate of my ramblings and noise lol ur tracks are sounding really cool so far! Let me know if you ever want me to mix anything for you or if u have any questions I love talking DAW and frequency reduction preferences lol

  • @coolparadiso  6 weeks

    Yup sure thing. 6 ok

  • @carleybaer  6 weeks

Yes! But I put a disclaimer in the thread that I won't be able to dedicate time to #tit4tat until middle of next week once the bulk of my finals are done and spring break begins. So if that's cool with you, count me in!

  • @lizbrinker  6 weeks

Your response to Voluntary Hostage is cracking me up over here, @shelleroo1 😂

  • @lizbrinker  6 weeks

Tomorrow...this lone night owl should sleep now.

  • @lizbrinker  6 weeks

    I’ll take all 3☺️ Death: it’s what’s for dinner!

  • @lizbrinker  6 weeks

You are too kind, @shelleroo1 ❤️ It’s an app for iPhone or iPad called Acapella. It has been a godsend during pandemic. Thanks for listening to some of my favorites. If you’re up for one more I’d suggest voluntary Hostage. Give me one more. Your pick.

  • @lizbrinker  6 weeks

    Ok, you’re a star! 🤩

  • @ferry0123 6 weeks

So, the ancient times, like back in 2019?---> thanks for the smile!

  • @lizbrinker  6 weeks

Hi! Sure! I’ll stick around until next weekend. Let’s start with 3. Ok by you?

  • @wolfkier 6 weeks

So glad you enjoyed. Thank you for all the very kind words.
I'm glad I pointed you at 5090 before you left here. My summer just became richer and warmer. Look forward to seeing you there. Thank you so much for participating in #tit4tat. I hope so many more people get to enjoy your marvelous stuff and you encounter all the joys I have in the work of the collected participants. A long hug back to you across the ocean.

  • @wolfkier 6 weeks

oh and you're a fawmling! DANG. Well, indeed welcome to FAWM from me! Doubledaretripplewelcome! 😀

  • @wolfkier 6 weeks

mixcraft9 pro studio. (windows). I think you said you use garageband so are a mac user. I don't think mine comes in a mac version.
Great. Ok, When I get a slot of time later today I'll listen to 6 more of yours in a row, any interuptions permitting, if you don't mind. I really prefer immersion with someone new, but could only politely touch on one to get the #tit4tat ball rolling. You can take all the time you want to return the 7 listens. Looking forward to it.

  • @vivalarayna 7 weeks

Thank you for stopping by and I'm so glad you liked "Politics of the Betrayed". Indeed, I thought that first verse was rather specific, but perhaps I'm getting better at making the listener think?? I sometimes use a 2 x 4 when writing, so I'll consider this growth. Yes, my neuro conditions are always a challenge to manage. It was super emotional from that perspective to listen to your song, but also so beautiful to hear so much empathy. Your insights are ones that so many folks miss.

  • @gb9  7 weeks

@shelleroo1 thank you for your appreciation and kind comments on 'Well-meaning Dangers' 😀
Sadly, I'm just a writer, I have very little understanding of music or melodies, I don't even have a tune in mind when I'm writing them down.... so I doubt it will come to life as a song....

  • @gnashattack  7 weeks

  • @metalfoot  Feb 3

My apologies. I thought I had uploaded the mp3 and the URL was right but I had not actually pressed the send button on my SFTP program! Ooops. Should be working now.

    Welcome to FAWM!

  • @nahlej381  Feb 3

    Excellent! Just let me know!

  • @nahlej381  Feb 3

Also I’d love to collaborate on a song, I can play bass and maybe some percussion if you’d be down...I’ve only done session work on a handful of kids songs and think it’s be fun!

  • @nahlej381  Feb 3

I’m an old soul. Lol thanks for listening!
