Bassplayer pretending to be a composer.
My first FAWM ever and pretty much my first ever composing thingys by myself.
Just opened the window and letting the wind blow through my brains and surprise even myself what's coming out from there.
It's all about the bass. Fingerstyle.
Because lack of picks (skills), even guitars are played by fingers.
Just having fun here, nothing serious.

Heyho - You wanted to know how "Fight for you" sounds when finished? It's online now. FAWM exclusive 😉
You were right. "Wrench in the works" is harder with real instruments. Dropped a new version of the instrumental...
Can't read notes too. And I probably never will. I just know the names of the symbols and how to look these up, but I'm a quick study after listening. I just some basics of music theory, but I hated it. Who cares about notes, tabs and theory as long as the music is good?!
Your bass skill is superb.
On your question whether programming VSTs is harder than playing the instrument... puh... I dunno.
I've learned 2 years of piano, played 3 weeks bass and guitar each... I am able to program melody and techniques I cannot play in each of these. You listen to 10 years of watching people how they play, talking to them, analysing music, writing tabs for other band members, etc. And I did some deep dive on guitar effects and arrangement while working with my band. There are still some mistakes in my programming but I'm willing to learn. And the VSTs improved a lot. My first thoughts on pall muting were actually filter designs, not the sample libraries contain functions for it. I still remember these days where I had to look up real guitar tabs and count the played notes (!!!)
I seem to have two left hands when playing real instruments. I am not able to coordinate left and right hand of the piano - I never learned playing with pedals - can't sing in key - I don't have the force for barré - I cannot grip the standard bass as the frets are too far away for my fingers. Funny how things turn out 😆
What is easier? I dunno. I think these are two different approaches on songwriting. I still compose my first draft on keys.
Just found you, happy FAWMOVER!
Check out 5090, July to September, - same, but different.
Oh, and PS 😀 hahhh, not a tit4tat, just found you. No need to listen to any of mine!, - not why I comment.
Thanks for #tit4tat. Your comments spark joy! Your English is good. Even if not - I'd also listen to Finnish music without understanding a word.
"Wrench in the works" is already in recording. Already listened to some stems yesterday and it will hit you way harder than you expect! I am looking forward to working on it. Especially for the vocals part will be something new for me.
Thanks for the helpful comment on "Embrace the storm". I fully agree! This song cannot be uploaded this way. Don't panic, the guitars will be recorded with massive layering. I hope we get this straight since it's the first time talking to a hardware-amp'er. I'd like to postpone the decision on the choirs until lyrics, phrasing and vocals were discussed. The vocal quality decides the amount of layering. Let's see how everything works out. Yes, this song has been inspired by these bands. I listen to this stuff a lot!
The piano on "Nuff Said" will be (sadly?) replaced by clean vocals. That's the lyrics I've also written in the notes. I am looking forward to the rap part since it will a co-write. This can take a while.
Haha, this comment on "Pyromancer" is splendid! I cannot get these pictures out of my head! Not taking myself seriously, I imagined a hooded metalhead playing around with fire in a medieval movie setting. @tfish77 vocal demo just blew me away. Perfect match for this song. I am looking forward to the guitar, bass, now even a bagpipe and violin. This will be fun!
It seems like all people got along with that piano vocalline on "Don't tell me if it hurts". Don't trigger me on karaoke, otherwise I'd program some Vocaluxe backing! @nateger's voice is so brilliant! I am looking forward to working with him.
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay here. So maybe, if you want to listen to these songs with real instruments someday soon, you can hit me up at SoundCloud (if you have, I'd follow you too!). I try my best to avoid guitar programmins on finished songs.
Popped here for some rock music and got one of the best bassists of FAWM. I like the groove in your sing and wish I could play like this👍!
Feel free to comment whenever you want. But I'm more on the songwriting, arrangement side, not a (good) instrumentalist at all. Expect nothing but rough sketches for instrumentalists and singers to record someday. My fun will be the production and mastering with these recorded stems after FAWM someday soon.
Ah thanks for explaining! I thought it was a new kind kind artificial neural network but that didn't make any sense lol! It's great that many of you found together and make music at FAWM. I'm also part of a community but I've spotted only three colleagues here...
having fun yet? 😀
Thanks so much for visiting on the tit4tat thing. Bit late in the day for me now, but I'll head on over and have a listen to some of yours next! 😃
Thanks for listening. The intimidating bits on the second part of Blazing Arrow was kind of the darkness before the dawn and to really announce that we're out of the dreamy first part. I took a camping trip in the desert recently and one morning I got up to see the sunrise by myself and it was sooooo cold. My hands were too numb to drink my coffee, but the anticipation and payoff was awesome. I was kind of imagining that but with a kind of tribal drum beat to get us all there together.
I enjoyed listening to your stuff, man! You have a great bass sound. Keep pushing yourself and writing!
re: midnight oil, I wasn't thinking of it as happy or sad, was more thinking of burning the midnight oil in kind of a joyous frenzy of being in the zone and all the ways that could play out whether you are making music in a crazy mad dash like fawm, working late but in the zone in a good way, or getting down to some serious "work" on the dancefloor or maybe behind the decks. Nothing more than that really.
I'm in for a #tatitat. 4 sounds good. Any in particular you recommend or want feedback on? I my side you might try (See, Midnight Oil, Rise of the Blazzing Arrow parts 1&2, and Slipped and Read the News. Also looks like you're into bass. I've played bass in bands but for some reason I didn't use it much this fawm cause I find leaving it pushes my song writing (i sometimes wash things out with bass cause i can't help myself.) Looking forward to checking out your stuff!
You don't need to do 50, of course, you could do 5 or 10 in 90 days, but you can keep touch with new friends you/ve made here. See you there, I hope. Look me up, if/when you do.
You ought to know after today, there's never enough bass! 😀
Have fun tittatting, my friend.
Any particular tunes you would steer me towards? I'm gonna have to get to it a little bit later but I'm looking forward to it...
Sepo, glad you joined.
Pick a few people from the list, visit a first of their songs, at the end of your comment write "@tit4tat1 - Hi I'm happy to trade you x songs,How many would you like to go?"
They'll repay, send you their limit, next visit to them you use #tit4tat2 etc etc, until you've fullfilled your agreed mutual visits.
Let me know if there's any other questions. ... For starters you might want to try first poking @driftwood1 , @ferry0123, @radiobenedetto, @sapient . Good luck.
I'll do one for you now.
Well man you made the 14!!
Its been a pleasure sharing my first Fawm with your music and hearing what you have been writing. For me this has been a mind blowing experience to know that there are so many people out there who express through music. I don't know weather you have an open mind to collaborations during the rest of the year, I will be publishing a page calles "Logistic services" where by I will be publishing audio stems and asking for random contributions, your welcome to it. it will be a total experimente and no body will hear the stems that the others are sending till it gets mixed at the end.
Have a good year
Toisin sanoen päätit itse selvitä ja jättää laivan uppoamaan. 😝
Kiitos kommenteista. Dalek biisi mulla oli jo jokunen vuosi sitten täällä. EXTERMINATE! 😁
Kiitti kommentista! Seuraavaks vasta tuleekin Norjaa!
RE: Sleigh - Hey Seppo! thx so much for taking the time to listen and leave a comment on my track! I appreciate you! 😀
Ha ha! I hate techno too!
I was just doing it to challenge myself to do a song without guitars 😉
Thank you so much for your comment on John! It truly means a lot.
Thanks for your kind words on 'Lament' ....much appreciated!
Yes, I've had couple of those cheaper ones. Lots of fun but for some reason I've sold them all.
A fretless is fun - it does not necessarily be one of "that" brand, but hey... 😉
Kun on tarpeeksi hyvä biisin nimi, laulu kirjoittaa itse itsensä. Kiitos kuuntelusta.
Thank you for the bass track. It was very comfy to jam on!
Thanks for listening. I think “happy-complaining” is one of my stronger skills.
Thanks for that kind comment on Song of Storms. Much appreciation! Have a great weekend 😀
Thanks so much for your comment on Puff Pastry Dragon! Welcome to fawm!
