Artist Bio

Influences:   This year I have been mostly listening to ... Jimmy Urine, Power Glove, Sneaker Pimps, IAmX, Sevendust, Blue Stahli, NIN, Tesseract, BONES UK, Alex & Tokyo Rose ...

I have no idea what is happening this year on FAWM, pretty much like most years. I think music has been my saving grace throughout lockdown.

I have ventured out and done GYAW, NurEin and now I am doing SongFight. I have done my music this year than I have done in a long time. I think I have gotten better, who knows. I think for this year I would like to mix doing quick lofi piano (of which I have started learning) and vocals mixed with some full on tracks, probably SongFight songs where I take my time in creating and producing.

I would love to collaborate more, I really enjoyed the collaborations I did last year. I'm glad I decided to reach out instead of living in my own bubble.

I'd like to do some more this year. Maybe I'll reach out again or if people want to do some tunes with me feel free to get in touch.

I'm hoping my sanity holds up until the end of this bloody lockdown, keeping a full time job and providing my 5 year old with an education has proven to be a colossal pain in the arse.

All constructive comments are welcome, I love to learn from what people say. If you think things could be different i.e. melodies, sound choices, eqs, compressors, whatever, go for it. I want to know so I can take it away and try it next time. I know my words tend to be a bit pants, it's the one thing I've never really felt the urge to learn and improve on. On the flipside, if you like it and just want to put the word equivalent of a thumbs up, that's fine.

I hope everybody else is keeping well.

Loving your Spintunes submission. Good luck!

  • @emkaydeebee  8 weeks

Hey, just seen you're taking part in the SpinTunes competition so thought I'd drop by and say hi again! Hope your week is going well with the return to school for your little one, I know it's been a great weight lifted for me. I'm fortunate that they seem to have switched back to school-life very comfortably, though I appreciate that's not everyone's experience. Anyways, looking forward to hearing what you do in the SpinTunes thing, it's going to be fun!

  • @kathym  Mar 5

Thank you for your thoughtful comments on "Come Play With Me". It wasn't an easy song to write and not easy for a lot of people to comment on, so your thoughts mean a lot to me. I will be reviewing them all as I revisit the song and develop it further. I truly appreciate your time and support, seemanski!

  • @audrey  Mar 4

Thanks for listening and for your kind words about my music. I appreciate it.

  • @iwilleatyou Mar 2

    Thanks for the listen!

  • @electrocelte  Feb 23

Serious thanks for listening to !!!!EPIC!!!! We’re a two man band now! I’m super happy!

  • @vomvorton  Feb 22

Yeah basically - I just had a mic set up at the desk so recorded rough versions of each few lines as they came to me, since I was figuring out the structure of each song as I went (neither of them being obviously verse / chorus adores affairs!) then I listened back and made any adjustments to lines that didn't scan very well etc. Seems like a good system, will be using it again!

  • @emkaydeebee  Feb 22

Eek, that’s a cool response, thank you for your comment on my Paint card 10x10! (And apologies for the spookiness!)

  • @nahlej381  Feb 21

Appreciate the listen and kind words my friend!

  • @gordon  Feb 21

Hi there, thanks for stopping by. It's hard to explain, I just really look forward to February and writing some songs. I guess I don't really worry about quality much, he he. I just see it as an exercise in trying to be creative and I have a grand old time.

  • @wolfkier Feb 20

Thanks again for your kind words and generosity with observant feedback. Very much appreciated.

  • @kissinginpublic  Feb 19

Thanks for the kind comments! I've really enjoyed this year. The sub bass video was this one... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRxZ_nldKKM It inspired me to go with some lower bass and higher pitched kick than I normally would. Not sure I got it spot on with the last track but fun to try.

  • @stephenwordsmith  Feb 16

Hello! I've just finished a lyric that I believe is one of my better efforts this year. I wanted to offer it to you before I threw it to the lions. Please check your e-mail. Cheers!

  • @scubed  Feb 15

Thank you for the lovely comment on “Sandcastles”!

  • @candle  Feb 14

Thank you so much for the comment on my one-synth challenge song. I hope you get yours sorted out. It sounds interesting. And yes, can one ever have too many VSTi's? 😉

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @carleybaer  Feb 14

Thank you so much for your sweet comment on Sandcastle Sky! I was touched that it brought back such a great memory, I actually got a little misty reading it. I hope you get to go back to the beach someday soon. 😀

  • @mikeb Feb 13

Thanks for you comment on my collab song with Julie - it was the power of her words that did it!

  • @stephenwordsmith  Feb 13

Hi. My apologies on the random Collab front - I've been unhappy with the material I've written this year, and I tend to hold myself to a higher standard when writing to a pre-arranged Collab agreement.

Feel free to rifle through and choose anything you like. If you don't like anything, there is still half the challenge left - I will think of something.

  • @emkaydeebee  Feb 13

Ha ha, yes, I had to drag him away from a film I’d left him watching, and he really didn’t want to do it at all! Thanks for your other comments on it though!

  • @rshakesp  Feb 13

Thanks fir the comment - if I remember rightly there was a touch of phase rather than flange - but a similar effect. WRT panning - I’ve always thought that you should use it to reflect imagined stage positions of players so guitars and bass l and r and vocals solos in the middle with kit sat behind and around.

  • @zecoop  Feb 12

Yeah, that mic seems really even and pretty good to me. Paul and Tim both had it and thought the same, and for $20?!? I got it mostly just for curiousity, but also because there are kits that you can get to upgrade them to nearly a Neumann, which would be pretty cool.

  • @audrey  Feb 10

Thanks for listening to my song "Choir's Back!" and for the kind words. Appreciate it.

  • @zecoop  Feb 7

Hey!! I think I have one for you interested in a rocker?

  • @trolls2 Feb 7

thank you for your kind comment on my FAWM#1 song...i look forward to listening to yours!

  • @wacha  Feb 7

Thank you for your kind words on "The Devil's Playground"!

  • @philkmills  Feb 6

Thanks for the comment on my playground song. I knew Sebastian was under foot while I was recording but I hadn't realized he wanted a solo part. 😀

  • @trolls2 Feb 6

really appreciate your comments on the song!! I'm working on a musical monologue on keyboard and this could become part of it. I see you're in the UK! Good luck with everything.

  • @tunecat  Feb 6

I've just commented on u track and realised you're only down the road.. Great track BTW. Just checked out your Bandcamp.. stuff packs a punch

  • @guatecoop  Feb 5

Absolutely! That sounds great. Thanks for the comment too!

  • @nuitarie Feb 4

Thank you for listening to "Marie-Astrid's Clock", and I hope you have a great FAWM this year. I'm definitely going to check out your stuff 😁

  • @djevans53 Feb 4

Thanks. Liked your "Take Me to the River".

  • @stephenwordsmith  Feb 3

Thanks for the post. I am hammering away at a song that answers the week #1 challenge, but it looks like it may be evolving in an un-useful direction. I'll keep at it. My output this year is even fittier and startier than usual. Thank god for Notepad, or I'd be knee-deep in paper balls.

Better than being balls-deep in paper knees, I suppose.

  • @paulh1237  Feb 3

You'll be relieved to note my bass actually gets too parts in the supposedly MIDI song (alongside 2 MIDI tracks).

  • @johncrossman  Feb 2

I neglected to include the link! 😀 https://fawm.org/songs/111517/

  • @johncrossman  Feb 2

Howdy, I put up a seed song for #morph3 so it looks like you're up. I'll share some info about the song if it helps, let me know if there's anything else I can provide. Fairly simple chording, let me see if I can accurately transpose... Good luck!

Key of E (I guess, I was in G but tuned down 1 1/2 steps). 94 bpm, Garageband drums, 1 acoustic guitar (direct and mic'ed) and some vocals that seem too build as the thing goes on. None too precise!

    Ch chords: E B / A B E
    V: Amaj9 (I think) E / C#m B / A E / C#m B
    Br: C#m A E B / C#m A E G#7

  • @stephenwordsmith  Jan 31

Why, hello, new friend. It seems we have been brought together by fate... or at least the random collaboration thread.

How would you like to approach this? My usual style is to write the lyric first and say 'help yourself', but I can also write to existing musical tracks (and a bit of indicative 'la-de-da' from the composer goes a long way). The latter takes longer, and tends to end up with lyrics that are a little more at home on pop radio; starting with the lyrics veers more into the alternative stations.

I first discovered you when doing the curation for the 2011 FAWMpilation, and I still enjoy 'falling down'. I'll have to have a nosy through the rest of your back catalogue to get a feel of your style.

Anyway, cheers, good luck with the challenge, and look forward to hearing from you 😀

  • @stevenwesleyguiles  Jan 30

No worries about GYAWS! A few times a year Amanda does a clean out of anyone that's inactive. But anyone is welcome to rejoin.

And if you're writing stuff consistently...it doesn't matter HOW you do it. 😀

    Have a great FAWM!

  • @srcoops  Jan 30

Fired up and ready to go. Hope we can get together on something.

  • @cts  Jan 30

*CTS tosses up the peace sign* Yo!

  • @helenseviltwin  Jan 30

Hey hey - all good. If you get kicked out of GYAWs, you're allowed to just join straight away again (or when you have the motivation to do so). I tried songfight once, but my production chops were pretty crappy at the time, and I found it a bit overwhelming. Maybe I'll try again sometime.

  • @petemurphy  Jan 30

Hey, thanks so much for the message. Yeah, the change of recording setup and the limited tools is bringing some new inspiration. I'm not falling back on my regular plugins and instruments, and I'm having to come up with workarounds for things which are having done interesting / unexpected results, etc.

I'm still unsure if I'll be able to collaborate effectively, and unlike previous years I won't be able to carry on finessing collabs after Feb, but if I feel able to collab once the challenge starts, I'll put the word out.

Wishing you all the best, and hope you have a great FAWM.

  • @andygetch  Jan 29

Hey Michael, great to see you again. Let's do this!

  • @dasbinky  Jan 29

Don't see too many people on here with Power Glove in their influences list. Bad ass. 😁
I got about halfway through my own cover of their Tetris theme a couple of summers back before I ran out of steam.

  • @dragondreams  Jan 29

    Yay! Yorkshire present! 😉

Maybe a little less shredding this year (arthritis is affecting my fretting hand on six string) but I'll do my best with the bass (the spacing and spread suits me better at the moment).

    Let's have a good one. 😀

  • @guatecoop  Jan 28

Well big hellos to you!! I’m looking forward to hearing your music again, as you are always really thoughtful and your songs are so clever and catchy. Very cool stuff. I need to be inspired by people like you again....immediately. I need it. Thanks for reaching out to me. Happy fawming to you! I will be listening.

  • @paulh1237  Jan 28

Well, my previous profile picture was from when I was a teenager so it was starting to feel a bit dated!

I am now a MIDI expert btw, with my one plug-in and my keen eye for a funny noise, so expect at least one triumphant synth-ony of midi-ocrity. OK. I'm all punned out now. BYE.

  • @shortdan  Jan 28

Hey! Yup, I'm going to try and give it a go. How realistic that is with a 1 and 2 year old I'm not sure...! Hope all's well at your end - don't envy you with the home schooling 😳

  • @ianuarius  Jan 28

No you just gotta follow the instructions and react to that thing, I forget...
    It's for spam protection.

  • @owl  Jan 28

Have a wonderful FAWM! Looking forward to hearing what you create!

  • @ianuarius  Jan 28

The Slack channel was originally made by @errol. I did the Discord channel but handed it to Saltbearer. It's still there 😁

  • @adforperu  Jan 28

Hey! Hope you're well, and good to see you here again. Yeah I did a 3 month online course with Point Blank Music School. My cousin is doing her diploma there and she recommended it. I think it cost me about £480? So a fair whack, but it was really helpful. One 2-hour masterclass every week, one 1-2-1 meeting (30 mins) every fortnight, and endless resources. I gained so much from it, mostly the basics as I've never *really* known what I'm doing, haha!

  • @balancelost  Jan 28

Hey dude, I didn't even know Com had a new album! I have listened to literally no new releases in the last year. I'll have to check it out. Good luck!

  • @robynmackenzie  Jan 28

I’d love to collab! I really enjoy your stuff 😀

  • @zecoop  Jan 27

Hey hey!! Good to see you here and yes, I would love to collaborate again!. How am I? I am actually pretty good now, but it's been a tough start to the year after a bout with C19. Ugh. How are you?

  • @lvgd09  Jan 27

Hello, I like your comments about mixing in one of the threads.

  • @judypie  Jan 27

  • @wolfkier Jan 27

  • @judypie  Jan 27

Wassup wassup!! Have a good one! And did you SOB UNCONTROLLABLY when IT HAPPENED in Lou2? Or just me? 😂

  • @ianuarius  Jan 27

Hey, I'm excellent. How are you doing? No worries about past. Let's have a great fawm!

  • @vomvorton  Jan 27

Hi Mike! Unfortunately this year I was going to go for "straight up depressing" but since you put it so kindly I'll try to slip one insightful and witty song in there somewhere for old time's sake!

  • @oddbod  Jan 27

    Hi there fellow Songfighter
