Artist Bio

Influences:   Immortal, Emperor, Solstafir, Wolves In The Throne Room, Me and That Man

I started this FAWM with serious intent to write more demos for my blackened death metal band, Abomnium.
With just over a day to go it turns out my favourite song is a parody about a shed. Damn, I LOVE FAWM 😁 😁 😁

Just before FAWM18 I bought a Tele, and all kinds of strange songs emerged from it. Me and @gordon went on over the summer to release a bunch of them under the name of Bridge11. If you like space rock, then you might like A Blue Dot:

This time around I'm coming at it with an acoustic and a Gretsch Baritone.

Hang onto yer hats...! πŸ˜ƒ

I'm so sorry it's taken so long to get around to all your tracks. Life after fawm has been kind of overwhelming. Your output this year has been great though! I've really enjoyed everything I heard from you and your production just continues to get better and better every year. Cheers to a successful fawm 2019!

  • @ryako  Mar 6

You listened to the whole thing, you madman! I hope you enjoyed it. It felt like it was sucking all the life out of me when I was making it, but in an enjoyable way. Mr. Pickles is not the first officer, unfortunately. It still takes money to run these ships and Torpsulai has loads of it. This whole thing was difficult and a lot more complex than last year's musical. Though, seriously, how can I complain when you did a double motherfucking FAWM?!!! LOL

  • @jwhanberry  Mar 5

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 3

Ha ha cheated on the trombone πŸ˜€

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 2

Like last year your album was a highlight. A style i love but dont listen to enough. Some lovely collabs with people like sr coops and 2 doors down gordon abd a classic surfy with another coops. But...... all respect its Sapient in the groove that nails me. Your own tracks are brilliant, i love your guitar and i think maybe you are seeing you can do a bit more range with both vocals ahem that leads to major chords. It just adds a slightly catchier element. Great listen mate.

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 2

I took 8 of your solo ones and am randomly now picking 6 collabs, generally with others i know. I will put an overall comment on your wall but i do the individuals where they lie.

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 2

my album 14 are marked as favourites.

  • @gordon  Mar 1

    One to go, surely?

  • @sirius Feb 28

    Meow mew mew mrr!

  • @ryako  Feb 28

WTF! A double FAWM! You are nuts, sir. I can't even conceive making that many songs. You're on top of my listening list, too.

Ok, dammit, do you need any help with double FAWMing? Not sure if I can help, but I will contribute if you'd like!

  • @dasbinky  Feb 28

Four more for the double-FAWM... you gonna push through with a feast tonight?

  • @dragondreams  Feb 28

    I can't help it! I have busy hands! 😁

  • @emplate Feb 27

Yeeessss! Go for it! : D

  • @billysea  Feb 27

I was hoping you'd say that πŸ˜€ Looking forward to it tomorrow

  • @nuj4x Feb 27

    Emailed you back! WOW!

  • @nuj4x Feb 26

I’m sorry, a lot going on. TN was flooded and mother in law’s home destroyed. I liked what you sent me...can we get it to 3 minutes and also will there be vocals?

  • @dragondreams  Feb 24

Drugs (mainly laxatives), coffee, and some truly awesome collaborators helped. πŸ˜‰
Sorry about the potato bits peppering your airship...

  • @dragondreams  Feb 24

The only complaint was about some guy leaving his airship double-parked by the moat. πŸ˜‰
Glad you liked it. And thanks loads for being a part of the madness! 🀘🐲

  • @emplate Feb 24

Thanks! I'm glad I managed to achieve what I was aiming for! : )

  • @fulanin Feb 23

    Hey there!
    Send me an e-mail:

  • @emplate Feb 23

Hahah, it truly is! Luckily I know some skilled people who can handle it for me : D You've really managed to pull off some epic stuff with your voice, though. Cheers for that! And woo, I knew there was a Devin influence in there, hahah! You could really pull inspiration from worse places, he's the master of this kind of stuff : )

  • @emplate Feb 23

Thanks for the comment again, dude! Yeah, two metal guys had surprisingly fun time making clean pop/rock free of all the dirt! : D But you're right, I might be back to raging next time, heheh ; )

  • @stevenwesleyguiles  Feb 19

I'm stoked to even make it this far and to be in the same bracket as you, @sapient. Let us make magical music and eat pints of ice cream and remember the days on the riverside during FAWMstock of years gone by. πŸ˜€

  • @emplate Feb 18

Thanks for the comment on "Winds of Decay"! Hahah, you're right, the guitars are a bit too clear, shame on me! : D

  • @gordon  Feb 2019

Dylan got a bit freaked out by the theremin at the beginning but then settled down. It's quite bonkers fun though all round. A re-do on the Vox is in order after FAWM.!

  • @zecoop  Feb 2019

I ran into a bout of writers block, but am planning on coming up with something this weekend. Rob and his family are going to be up so you might get a zecoop guatecoop sapient collab! (can we mix in another srcoops, lol) πŸ˜€

  • @nuj4x Feb 2019

Hey man! Shot you an email <3

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

It is something of a departure in style but one that works well for you. I like the way you handled this song.

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

Looking forward to hearing your work on

  • @caterwauler  Feb 2019

I so love that you've used the word "involving". That's exactly what I'm after, involvement and commitment. And I don't know any other way to do it either.
I've had a great moment listening to your songs. You're really impressive, Sir. πŸ˜€

  • @caterwauler  Feb 2019

Oooh, ok! Thanks for the explanation.
Now I have to listen again to understand why/how I heard doubled vocals, haha. 😁

  • @caterwauler  Feb 2019

    Okay. Looking forward... πŸ˜€

  • @caterwauler  Feb 2019

    Why not. πŸ˜€
Slack makes it super easy to collab (not only we can share ideas, but also files). Just pop in whenever you can. πŸ˜€

  • @caterwauler  Feb 2019

    WHISPER!!! 😁
Of course I'd love to team up with you again! And to scare the crap out of the community? How could I resist this offer?

I'm doing my listening/commenting tonight. You're number one on my list.
And THANK YOU for your sweet comments. <3

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 2019

  • @iwilleatyou Feb 2019

A whole album of that metal stuff would definitely be awesome but it takes A LOT of energy (as you know). I'd have to fast for a week to prepare.
You and @Caterwauler should collab. You would do an AWESOME job mixing metal with her sonic soundscapes. That's my dream combo right there.

  • @tfish77 Feb 2019

Thanks for the comment on "Scary!" I used a Reason patch, I forget which one at the moment but I can look it up for you at some point. Reason is my go-to for weird synth noises, then I'll usually add a distortion pedal effect or something if needed.

  • @tfish77 Feb 2019

I had no idea Ministry was still around!

  • @zecoop  Feb 2019

Great!! I'll see what comes up and leave lots of space for you... πŸ˜€

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

If you like Life Rage, I will post it.

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

    Life Rage

Many, in this world of ours
    Face things with a smile
    Optomistic as we walk
    Up life’s broad aisles

    Many others we see
    In all they engage
    Show no patience at all
    They fly into a rage

    They’re most unhappy
    With other’s cars
    They get into fights
    At neighborhood bars

    Even at home
    They yell and scream
    They have no respect
    For their primary team

    Their lives are cut short
    When their heart doesn’t work
    A precious life wasted
    By being a jerk

    Take a look at this

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

I'll try to put something together. It would be great to work together again.

  • @emplate Feb 2019

Thanks for the comment on "Black Metal Terror - Nuclear Horror", man! I've been listening to a lot of fast and violent stuff lately, and it felt good to create that sort of blackened grinding death, so maybe I'll come up with more stuff in the same vein! : )

  • @silvermachine  Feb 2019

Yeah, I don't fancy me chances if you take it serious.

  • @zecoop  Feb 2019

I would love to of course! Still plenty of February left, right? Probably easy for me to start something, but I am open to either direction. Any ideas?

  • @fulanin Feb 2019

If anyone here knew about Sylosis, I thought you would be the one. haha
    Thanks for your words 😁

  • @dragondreams  Feb 2019

    Aww, cheers, Peter!
Indeed, tis a cheap rail humbucker what I picked up from Ebay many years ago and used to be the neck pup in Frankie until I fitted the sustainer. I used the rail type because the string spacing is quite tight on the Tanglewood and I couldn't find a conventional humbucker with the correct spacing on the pole pieces. This does the trick. And it's the only pickup on the guitar. It's possible to get piezos specially for resonators, but decent ones are pricey.

  • @iwilleatyou Feb 2019

EZ drummer? Hmmm. OK I've got to take a look at this thing. Thanks for the info!

  • @downfallroad  Feb 2019

\m/ thanks dude. Yeah! Mountain Mirrors is great!

  • @lanasolyluna Feb 2019

Thanks so much for having a listen. Will be back to check out your tunes.

  • @dragondreams  Feb 2019

    Thanks loads! πŸ˜€
I'm definitely going to develop it into a full song after the tourney. πŸ˜‰

  • @zecoop  Feb 2019

Dude!! Thanks for sending that postcard! Much appreciated. πŸ˜€

  • @emplate Feb 2019

Thank you cor your comment on "Tuhat haavaa"! I'll provide a translation to the lyrics when I have the time : ) I often feel like it's more honest to write in one's mother tongue, even though I do enjoy writing in English as well. It's also that writing in Finnish challenges myself more, 'cause then it all feels much more personal and I can't just hide behind cliches, if you get my drift : D

  • @zecoop  Feb 2019

Thanks for checking out the creepy subway song! I added some freaky EBow guitar and remixed, so now it is about 1000 times more creepy, in case you wanted to check that out, lol. I ran out of time last night and what the song needed was guitar of some sort. I figured it out tonight. πŸ˜€

  • @bamsekarhu Feb 2019

Yeah, the mic is insanely good for its price! Huge recommendation.

  • @bamsekarhu Feb 2019

Thanks for the comment! My setup for vocals is sE2200a II C mic, Steinberg CI 2 interface and a CLA-76 plugin to bring some saturation.

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 2019

Ta for the comment - The set up was a blend of the piezo and the bridge humbucker into a Blackstar ID:15, feeding the line out as a stereo signal into the DAW. And I was simultaneously driving the GR-55 Guitar Synth, taking the stereo out from the synth and the mono out from its COSM section, so that meant two stereo pairs and a mono signal for each of the seven guitar tracks.

It very nearly ended up being 24 minutes long, but I decided I ought to stop and get some sleep as I get up for work at 05:30. It may well end up being expanded as part of a longer piece...

  • @srcoops Feb 2019

We haven't hooked up but it's early.. Hope you are having a good time.

  • @dragondreams  Feb 2019

    Thanks, Peter. 😊

  • @candle  Feb 2019

I'll try the e-mail. Thanks for the comment on my 210 BPM song. I guess that means I need to do more EDM stuff… ugh πŸ˜‰

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @candle  Feb 2019

@caterwauler & I would like to invite you to her Slack Workspace. It's an online platform where we've been sharing ideas and having fun talking. I'm posting the invite link here because we couldn't find an email address for you. If you're interested, check it out. Again, thanks for the BPM Swap Challenge. I quite enjoyed it - and I really liked what you came up with. I3OTA0YjdlMWRiOWRiNjY1N2NkMDZhMzg3MGE

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @heuristicsinc  Feb 2019

Hey, want to collab again this year? It's always fun...

  • @dasbinky  Feb 2019

Interestingly, not an Octaver on Silently Screaming! It's a LFO filter on... either saw wave, square wave or both. I love those filter mods, but it's hard to fit them into actual songs. Amp modeling is neat.

Also, I'm playing the part in lockstep octaves, which probably adds to the Octaver impression.

  • @ryako  Feb 2019

Hey, you! Glad to see you're back. Thanks for the comments. Dear god, I don't know how the fuck I'm going to keep making better songs. Feel free to laugh at or pity me.

  • @bking  Feb 2019

Yeah Peter. I'm a bit late, but I'm here.

  • @bking  Feb 2019

Hey Peter. Great to know you're keeping the fires burning. Well OK raging quite possibly. But that's a good thing.

  • @sherrycanary  Feb 2019

    Great to see you here.
Thanks for your lovely comment on Club Midnight.
Where else could you hear Jazz Metal? πŸ˜€

  • @dragondreams  Feb 2019

Cheers, Peter. Having you sing on this actually tickles my sense of humour to the point of saying "go for it!" What's the worst that could happen? πŸ˜‰

  • @gromwaf Feb 2019

Thanks for the comment brother... Wrong, yes, but oddly arousing at the same time...

  • @thelostcartographer  Feb 2019

I am a big Grand Magus fan. I feel like some of the "Iron Will" album may have crept in to "Hands to Oars"

  • @dasbinky  Feb 2019

With the baritone acoustic, part of the draw is the SUPER thick strings, so even capoed you get a tone (in theory) like playing a really big dreadnaught. Not sure that came through in my recording though.

My background in metal led me to avoid capos for ages, but now I love them... The higher tension of the strings (especially above the fifth fret) makes for a very different tonal experience. Also, they keep my songs from all being in E, D or A. πŸ˜€

Try a tune with a capo on 8 or something, you'll see what I mean.

  • @corinnelucy  Feb 2019

    Hello again! Happy FAWM!

  • @johnstaples  Feb 2019

Hey Peter! Cannot wait to hear your acoustic stuff! Lemme know if you need country wailing!

  • @torniojaws  Jan 2019

Let's kick ass and chew bubblegum!

  • @sacraficialglam  Jan 2019

Hmmmm...Acoustic Sapient. there is a catch somewhere. has to be. I still think mischief is afoot in this setup. maybe Fairport Convention styled songs done only Didgeridoo, Biwa, and Siku. hmmm. keeping my on you.

  • @carlos Jan 2019

Hello Sapient! .. the Blue Dot work is awesome...

  • @zecoop  Jan 2019

Any chance I can persuade you to send a postcard to Mrs ZeCoop's class? I see from your pictures how beautiful The Dam is... πŸ˜€

    yay Happy FAWMing!

  • @mikegtz  Jan 2019

Hello, Sapient! i will be tuning in.

Happy FAWMing this year! I look forward to hearing which realms you choose to explore this year.

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @caterwauler  Jan 2019

Hello Sir! Glad to see you back. πŸ˜€

  • @coolparadiso  Jan 2019

Looking forward to your stuff again this year

  • @kovbleu  Jan 2019

Have a great FAWM!!!!! Great to see you back!

  • @metalfoot  Jan 2019

Just listened through the Bridge11 album. Impressive, to say the least! Does it exist in any sort of physical format, or just as a digital album?

  • @dragondreams  Jan 2019

    At last! πŸ˜€

  • @swampjaw  Jan 2019

Ready as I'll ever be. Which is not ready at all!

  • @ericdistad  Jan 2019

Great to see you back Sr. Sapient!!

  • @srcoops Jan 2019

Hope we can do something together. At 82, I am still vertical and ready to get started.

  • @dasbinky  Jan 2019

My fingers are crossed that we can fuck some shit up once again, in some context or other.

  • @devin  Jan 2019

PS Are those nut-jobs doing the drum thing again? My mother warned me about them...

  • @devin  Jan 2019

Dang... did I just lose the "we keep Devin around because he does the occasional acoustic intro to a metal project before we take over and make it a real song" status?

Because that was as much as I could do. I'll go pour the whiskey then.

*is determined to be a very useful engine*

  • @autoclamp  Jan 2019

An acoustic Sapient album would hasten the worldwide magnetic pole shift, bringing mass chaos and spiritual realignment on a global scale.

So yeah, that sounds pretty good.

  • @zecoop  Jan 2019

Let's do this thing... Perhaps together once. 😎
