Hey thanks for the kind works on Lean Times. Keep rocking! \m/
Thank you for your comment on my collab with JonMeta called Time to Live Again
Thanks for listening to my collab song with crisp1, "Where I want you / By My Side", really appreciate it!!
OMG it’s SMD! “Believe it or not, I’m going with you, whether or not you choose to go!” Still one of my favorite love songs of all time. I am so so so thrilled to see you here! We met on an AIDSRide across southern Wisconsin back when the 21st Century was still a new thing. Oh, wow! Okay, can’t wait to go listen to your latest tunes now. Huzzah!
Thanks for the kind comment.
Thanks for the listen!
Howdy, Mr. Surface Mounted Device! (Sorry, electronics geek humor.)
Thanks for all the listens today. (Your comment on Pirate AM Waves in particular made my day.) I checked out some of your stuff on Bandcamp as well and I really enjoy your guitar playing and the production on them, and you folks had great feel on the tracks recorded from quarantine (having just worked on a quarantine album, I know how insanely hard it can be to get everyone sounding cohesive under those circumstances).
That first song on my list is indeed the first drum part I wrote from scratch on an actual kit. I practiced a lot over the last several months (I was lucky enough to have the time to put into it) recording myself playing old parts that I and the drummers in my band wrote. Somewhat ironically, that drum part was the only one I nailed in a few takes. Even the really simple part on Weaver took a few extra takes, though in my defense it was because I kept simplifying that one 😀
That's you behind the kit on all of yours, right? I think I saw a comment that you're playing some 70s slingerlands?
Squeeze!!! I LOVE Squeeze. I also like Daft Punk a lot, so I completely get that! I hadn’t thought about those similarities, but I’m not sure if any song has been compared to those at the same time! Thanks for the comment!
Oooh Loud Reed that's high praise indeed! My voice was veeeery much giving out, but hey - it adds character 😝 Thank you so much 😁
Dude-man thanks for all the kind comments this year! I have to work at 5am tomorrow but I'll come back around to hear your songs soon I promise. Holy cow, 21! Well done lad, mine only went to eleven. 😄
Thank you so much for your lovely comment on "Cold"! Congrats on a spectacular win, what an awesome FAWM! <3
Thanks for the comment on my stuff! I really appreciate it! Glad you're here otherwise too!!
Thanks for the kind words on "Margaret" and glad to know you have a Margaret in your life too. I'm impressed by your prolific month, I'm just trying to get to 14!
Thank you so much for supporting me in my first FAWM! Appreciate you buddy! And congrats on a wonderfully prolific February! You rocked it!
Hi Sean - thanks for listening to "Call in the Morning", and for your feedback. Hank? Whoa...
Much appreciated, Bob McK
Thanks man. I am a massive Queen fan so any reference that way is bound to make me happy.
Thank you once again for the kind words on several tunes. Much appreciated!
Haha called it, I was thinking “I know that small sliver of lake in the background!” Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for your comment, glad you like the newest one. Wow, you're up to 19 already, that's amazing, nice work.
17 already? Yer making me look bad... I've only got one and it's a loop-based instrumental! LOL! Happy FAWM 2021!
RE: Night Life - Hey Sean! thank you so much for taking the time to listen and leave a comment on my track! Your words made me smile! Cheers to the 80's! I appreciate you! 😀
Thanks for listening, and commenting on " Everybody Talkin'." good fawm 2021
Hey again - thanks for reading my "I am a Solitary Figure" lyric. I was trying to capture some old 80's rock.
thx for the kind words re my song. much appreciated! checking out your stuff now. dig it!
I appreciate the comment on my latest tune! BTW, whenever I read your name I misread it as like your an MD. A rock star doctor would be pretty badass
Thanks, your comment made me smile. Glad you liked the song.
Cheers mate, thanks for the feedback, yes I agree Vocoders can knock up the cheese factor, so I use sparingly! 😀
Thanks for your comment on "Going my way" and "Wrench in the works".
Hey buddy! Thank you so much and I hadn't heard "Verdi cries" so I looked it up and of course love it and quite the compliment. Thank you. I do feel a connection vocally to Natalie Merchant for sure her range and style. Congrats on a prolific FAWN run this far!!
Sean, thank you for your comment on "Space." Oh yeah, he's way out! I almost didn't post it for that reason. Really got into the zone though. I also dig your bio! I'm a Husker Du fan, so it was cool seeing Bob Mould.
Thank you for your words for my song Heaven Forbid.
I have no idea if our seats in Hell are next to each other LOL
But let's not find out too prematurely eh?
Thanks for the comment and corrrecting me.
Thanks for listening and commenting on Little Monkey...Yes, we are all monkeys in my book.
And congrats on 14!
Wooohoo!! 14 baby! Congrats!
Many thanks for the listen on "Fiver".
I notice Johnny Marr and Kirsty MacColl on your list of influences -- were you aware that there was one track they collaborated on? I got a surprise when I found that out. 😮
Thank you ever so much for your comments on my songs, I really appreciate that. I have just been listening through your tracks and you have some gold on there. Well done for hitting fourteen already as well. I'm in a bit of a rut at the minute. Hoping to claw myself out of it and post something in the next day or so. Thanks again.
Sean - thank you for finding "The Sun the Used to Be" from among the hundreds of Songs out there, and for listening and commenting.
I can see from all of the comments below that you are very generous in taking time to listen to a lot of FAWMers and making comments. It means so much when someone listens to my music, and I appreciate it.
In the meantime, I've listened to some of your tracks, and I love them!
You are a very talented songwriter and musician.
Good heavens i have not heard the the name Brinsley Schwarz forever. I had an album of theirs but cant remember which one! They like Nick were always the nearly stars! Saw Nick a few times around the Live Stiffs time and still have Jesus of Cool! Maybe they were more of an influence than i thought. Thx for your comment and the memory!
wow! that's a high compliment and comparison on 'lonely hearts' thank you!
Yikes! That's quite the compliment. Thanks. I'll have a listen to your stuff in the car in my way home later 😀 Thanks for stopping by!!
Thanks for the listen and comment on my "Cardinal's Waltz."
> Quotes the very beginning of Mr. Bojangles, which isn’t such a bad thing!
I reckon any day I'm ripping off JJW must be a good 'un.
P.S. You mentioned how I’m recording guitars/how they sound a couple of times. For acoustic, it’s a Martin D-28 with an LR Baggs Anthem acoustic mic pickup (this pickup is a literal mic in the acoustic guitar along with traditional piezo pickups, you can blend the 2 or just use one or the other. I stick to just the mic pickup) plugged directly into the interface, with very little EQ. Doubled, hard panned left/right). Electrics, I use a variety of tricks and guitars...but mostly my Gibson LP standard into a line 6 podGO (using patches I’ve built), directly into the interface. Some compression on those, but little else. Anyways, just thought I’d share. I had never done any home recording until about 6 months ago, so it’s all new to me. YouTube has been my best friend. Lol
Thank you so much for all the very kind words and for taking the time to listen through all I’ve posted! You made my day! Much appreciated.
Thanks for the comments. James Dean Bradfield is a huge influence. The drums are programmed using ezdrummer 2. There are some great drum sounds on there.
I can see the Style Council bit now on Pretending. Weller has always been a favourite of mine, maybe I was channeling him?
Thanks for your kind comments.
I stopped labeling the parts a long time ago but the aabb section is the bridge.
Thank you for the complimentary commentary on Time To Fly
Thanks for taking the time to listen to "Confusion Corner"! I'm flattered by the Basher comparison...So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. - I love that video on your page for "no for now", great stuff.
Hi Sean, I appreciate you checking out a few of my tunes and leaving such thoughtful comments! Being likened to Aimee Mann is a big compliment. So grateful 🙏😊
Thanks for your great comments on season of sorrow. Glad you liked the sax and vocals playing off each other and the repetition as well. Appreciate it!
Thanks so much for this comment. Much appreciated. Yours truly, Dan
Thanks for your comments on Dark days long nights. I can't tell you how chuffed I was with the comparison with Leon Redbone, I'm a massive fan. Will start listening to your songs.
Yes, as a matter of fact. It was one of the best rooms in our old farmhouse. It had an electric outlet on the wall, and I bought a small record player. I am glad you enjoyed my song. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment and compliment. You've been a busy man - will have a proper listen today.
Wow, thank you for the nice comment! YOU have been very busy and productive! I'd better come back for some more listening....I have a bunch of unfinished songs that I decided to ignore and put up a completely new one that I wrote today....I will get to those other ones hehe. Maybe they will just stay unfinished. Who knows. You are cranking them out! Thanks again for the comment, as it does make an impact.
Thanks for listening and commenting on Bona Fide Liar. The Knopfler reference was a nice compliment. I was actually kind of inspired for the groove by Dire Staits' Heavy Fuel. Loving your guitar tones and catchy hooks!
Thank you for your kind remarks on "The Cruelest of Fates". A John & Mary or 10,000 Maniacs comparison is wonderful compliment!
Thanks for the kind and encouraging words!
Thank you for the listen and the feedback!!
Hey Sean, many thanks for your comment on Leaving I appreciate it!
hey, thanks so much for the comment on Charlie! 😀
Thanks for the comment on my song! That's actually me on the ocarina, lol. I got it for Christmas and was waiting for a chance to use it in a song this month!
Thanks for the listen and comments on my week 1 challenge song!
Haha maybe the drugs are relatively so if you’re rich 🤪 thanks for listening!
Glad you enjoyed the tunes! And yeah, the Metal Zone can be pretty awesome. 😀
Thank you for the comment.
Thanks for commenting on Han's Falcon!
Hey hey. Thanks dropping a line on my tune.
I changed the title of my song because you are totally right 😁
Thanks for you r kind comment, I have upload a better version that is not clipping so much and is a bit more mellow.
Thanks for the kind words lol it cracks me up but the autotune tracks were just a spoof but people seem to dig it. I guess that’s how it goes lol
O, you asked about “the real outside”
Well....I think I was talking about the “ideas” of outside and sunshine when you were a kid, like I think it meant something extraordinarily different to me when I was a kid. Idk sometimes the muse takes me places lol
Thanks for listening! I appreciate it 👍
SMD! I'm trying FAWM for the first time this year. So fun to see you here! I bet you're a FAWM veteran, yes? Adding you to my watch list!
I love your influences! I’m surprised that we haven’t crossed paths before. Well, have a great fawm 2021!
