Artist Bio

Influences:   My interest are Motown oldies, Pop, Blues, R&B, Christian, and Country with artists like--Luke Combs, Jimmie Allen, Dan and Shay, Lee Brice and Brett Young .  I love a good love song. And I love writing a good love song.

Schantell Wharton--ASCAP--has been a writer since she was a little girl. She uses writing to process her life experiences. Her lyrics are deeply personal. Her Albums are deeply personal too. All Artists want to know-- that they touched somebody. Redlady (SBW) loves hearing your comments. Open to collaborations. Open to music to if you want to collaborate.

I use a program called Audacity. It's free (which I like because life is expensive enough as it is) and it allows me to record multiple parts etc. I can output into various formats from Audacity as well. A lot of folks in FAWM use digital audio workshop programs (DAWs) like Reaper, Acid Pro, Ableton, Studio One, or ProTools. Some use GarageBand on their iPhones. Loads of options out there!

The little envelope picture on my page up at the top has my email address. it's alexklages at hotmail dot com

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

You should be able to download it from the "Download MP3" button on the page (right-click or whatever). Alternately, you can email me on the address on my FAWM page and I can send you the MP3 through email. I'll give your suggestion a try later on... a bunch of projects I'm trying to finish off today!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

Was going for kind of a build on the song where it got more intense as I went along---which is why the first verse is a little more... calm-sounding. Glad you liked it overall!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

Posted what I came up with! Thanks for letting me have a go at it.

  • @tjeff  Feb 25

Hi Schantell - thanks so much for listening and commenting on "Origami Butterfly!" I truly appreciate your support!

  • @madeline Feb 24

Hi, Schantell. Thanks for your kind comment on the "Take A Step" lyrics. Looks like you have quite a few lyric forward songs down yourself, and congrats on sprinting past the minimum songs written already to win FAWM!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 24

Hi! While I would love to collaborate I generally only write lyrics and my musical ability is limited and vocals are awful. I will browse through your lyrics to see if something looks simple - but I would hate to ruin your lyrics with bad music!

  • @redlady8029  Feb 23

One of my songs He wants to be my man. I see were it says yes download but no but that says download here.

  • @donna  Feb 23

Schantell, which particular song(s) are you referring to? The person who uploaded it to Soundcloud and then to FAWM would need to have clicked on the 'download mp3' button near the bottom of the FAWM upload page.

  • @donna  Feb 23

Schantell, regarding your question about downloading a song on FAWM. You should be able to do that simply by clicking the 'download mp3' underneath the song wave file (if in fact the song is intended to be downloaded).

  • @dutch1967 Feb 22

We’re all about love here, Schantell.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 22

Thanks for dropping by redlady! I've enjoyed reading your lyrics. Beautifully crafted slices of real life. I'm not able to collab at this time as I'm backed up coming down the homestretch, but I appreciate you for asking! Wishing you all the best until next time.

  • @redlady8029  Feb 21

You can pick any song above that catches your interest. I have one christian/folk song--Feeling thoughts and Beliefs. Two challenge songs--Play and Mirror. Hope that helps. Thanks for reaching out.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 21

Sounds good. Did you have any lyric in particular you would like me to try to add music to? I do have a few songs I'm working on but hope to clear out some of my backlog in the next couple days.

  • @dutch1967 Feb 21

I would be interested in collaborating if I didn’t have so much on my hands. As it is I’m not even getting around to responding to every comment I receive, let alone comment on other’s work.

  • @theresaj  Feb 21

Hi Schantell! I have two songs in the works at the moment so when I finish them I will be in touch.

  • @davewermers Feb 21

Thanks for listening and commenting on "A New Man".

  • @oddbod  Feb 21

Thanks for your message but I’m afraid with one week to go, I’m way overcommitted with other collabs and songs, so it’s unlikely I’ll have the time.

  • @dutch1967 Feb 21

Thanks for commenting on Love Is Never etc. I see your list has a couple ZONGs. Let’s quickly rectify that!

  • @aneil Feb 20
The demo for my song is Collab with @dutch1967

  • @aneil Feb 18

@redlady8029 I'd love to give She a go. Have lots on the go! Do you mind waiting till after crazy Feb for the demo. Thx for trusting me with your work hope it comes out to your liking

  • @aneil Feb 16

Thx for your comment on my song will let you know when the demos out!

  • @brandondale72  Feb 13

Thanks for leaving such kind words on a couple of my newest songs. 😀

  • @spunky4455 Feb 13

Hi! Fellow ASCAP member! Thanks for your compliments. 50/90 is kinda like FAWM except it's longer, 50 songs in 90 days. I did it a couple of years ago, wrote 91 songs. But it does pretty much dominate your summer so keep that in mind if you're gonna attempt it.

  • @mrgee1952 Feb 13

Thank you for your kind comment. I find my best attempts are the one’s that just jump out of nowhere. Cheers

  • @redlady8029  Feb 13

Thanks Donna. That's what I have been doing. Sending you much Love, Joy Peace and Laughter.

  • @donna  Feb 13

Good to see you here, Schantell. 😉

Just a heads-up: If you want to respond to people who have commented on your lyrics, you need to go to their Soundboard and post your message there. Otherwise they won't see what you wrote.

  • @redlady8029  Feb 10

Disclaimer: All my lyrics for FAWN 2020 are rough drafts. They will be rewritten later. I am open to collaborates on and off this site. Happy writing.

This is the year I am determined to break into Country music as a Songwriter and A Black Female County Artist. Luke Combs Has been my greatest inspiration.
