Hey, ready to go. Hope you all are making it through the miasma in the best way possible.
Like everyone I've had a weird year; been out of work since June, passed the Real Estate exam, waiting on the license, which will probably come through around the beginning of Feb. so my time may be limited for FAWM in Feb. For this reason, for the first time, I'm going to do some prep work in Jan.
Hey a set up a challenge in the forums give it a whirl https://fawm.org/forums/topic/10925/
2/11/21 11 days in been pretty productive, but not writing as many lyrics as I would like to , so that will be the focus.
Found some really good songs, that I'm putting here so I can find them again.

Hi - Just in case you are checking in before the site goes down, I haven't been on much lately, but for future reference, my email is Nitefire5@aol.com. If you send a note, put FAWM in the subject line so I know it's from a fawmer. I'm also on facebook under Kathy Moran in CT. Be well, stay safe, and thanks for everything.
Hey if youโre into African beats and such, I really like some of what a band called Mestizo Beat is doing.......as well as Antibalas, the Budos Band, and The Dap Kings, but you probably know those.
Hi, I'm sorry ... I ended up watching my grandson overnight and lost track of everything all weekend. Thank you, though, for the invite. If there is another, let me know and I'll send you my email address.
Yeah, I was pretty sure it was 2pm.
No worries, though, it all worked out ok!
Thanks for organizing it! ๐
Thank you!
Thanks for listening in on "If Anybody Cares".
Loved your buzzy/fuzzy guitar tone on that last one--"Where Sally Goes".
Thanks for chiming in on the tit4tat thread. If I understand it, you'd rather not be on the list, is that right?
anyone can play independently without a firm commitment, just (maybe) leave a #tit4tat hashtag with your comment and add you're only going 1 for 1 slowly. I know a lot of people don't always refer to forums, and might miss you particular preference, and Im gonna post a new (updated) list so everyone playing gets one later today to keep momentum going through the weekend.
Thank you for your comment and advice on 'Just push the button'. I find that skirmishes are great encouragers of 'concise lyrics'.
Hello and thank you for your Marilyn, the Blue Eyed Cow comment! It was interesting to check up on your observation. The "strings" was a traditional Chinese instrument I was lucky to find in my Garageband: an erhu.
Thanks for listening to "Something and Moon" and for your feedback. It was great joy to do this collab!
Thanks for the comment. ๐
Hello, Pipewrench67! Thank you for your comment! The relaxing thing with Low UV, I guess, is that there is a very reduced risk of skin cancer. The unsettling thing is that it keeps feeding that depression that in the end can only be dispelled by a dangerously High UV.
Thatโs great. I will do my best to attend next weekend!
Thanks for that, and sorry I wasnโt paying attention earlier!
Yep, I have at least one or two from the first week that I could play.
Thanks!
Yes, I'm down to play a song this Sinday.
Sorry for the delay in replying, this Sunday wont work for me for the zoom as the time is a class unfortunately. Will keep an eye out if you do it the week after.
Thanks for the listens!
@pipewrench67 You've made my day start on a win!!!!!!๐
Thank you so much for the lovely interpretation. I've absolutely loved it! Thank you for bringing a vision of my song to life with your version๐๐ปโโ๏ธ and you've made it a thousand times better ๐๐ป
Thank you ๐
Very cool, thanks! I'll see if it prompts anything! if not, well, I had a good run this time even if it wasn't 14 ๐
Thank you so much for the appreciation of 'Escape Together'. Stayscape sounds like a wonderful idea to ruminate on, thank you for that thought ๐
@pipewrench67, this is the skirmish you should be on.
https://fawm.org/forums/topic/11776/
The other one has the wrong number. ๐
@pipewrench67 God bless you a thousand times over!!!
Thank you for working on 'This Darkness' I'd love to see it evolve to a song so please go ahead and interpret it anyway you'd like.
I do not have much knowledge about music or singing so I really can't visualize my work as a song, so go ahead and let me know any changes you'd want me to make.
Once again, thank you very much and sending you a big massive virtual bear hug!!! You made my day brighter ๐
Thanks for checking!! If I touch the menu icon of the browser (not the website) at top right it has a drop down menu panel. Scroll down and one of the options is "Desktop site". If I have that box ticked I can access the edit and report abuse links. Otherwise I cannot. And the desktop mode is not as nice on mobile.
Hey, no worries! I'll see what I can do! ๐
Thanks for checking that. On my android turning sideways, touching my post, nothing ever triggers those links to appear. I wonder if you are in desktop mode? Or if my Android Chrome browser just won't do that?
I'm gonna post double again but NOT change the second this time... just because! And we are all with Pete. Viva La Pete! (I mean, if he was viva).
I'm gonna post double again but NOT change the second this time... just because! And we are all with Pete. Viva La Pete! (I mean, if he was viva).
Why do you do this to me FAWM... Pretend like I hadn't posted... Why? ๐
And *NOW* I see Chris' song, and get it, haha. Perfect. I loved your song already and now it all makes sense! ๐
Hey, thanks for visiting and listening!
Pete Seeger approved. ๐
Thank you so much for your appreciation and kind comments on 'Aces', I know I have to revisit this one and fix it. Thank you for your kindness. ๐
Thanks for the encouragement. It was fun. Interesting topic you chose.
Aha!! That looks like a fun way to run language through the wringer.
Ooh that skirmish was fun, thanks Pipewrench! I wrote out all the lyrics and translated them to English for you.
I totally get it, I made a mess of my last skirmish host and caused a lot of confusion because I made a copy and paste error. I had mismanaged my time and was wolfing down my dinner when my computer crashed just before the skirmish was supposed to state.
It's 5pm Sunday here so I'm gonna go do the walk the dog, run some errands thing - always keen to bounce ideas if you're keen though, whether that's later tonight (depending on how late you stay up) or another day in a coincidental both-awake time ๐ thank you for offering!
Thanks for the message! What time is it where you are?
Definitely Ionic and fortunately for my stomach and waist a lot more veggies than feta but as they say... ...feta makes it betta...
sorry mate - i think the eyes are going! new one put up and old one buried deeper (you cant delete them) but with a a message to move along to the right one
Thanks! I think I'm ready to roll.
Thanks very much for listening to Epic! Had a great time working with Adam, he makes great music, I am totally up for making more cool tunes in the future!
I'm really dumb.
I see now that I probably should've waited until March to post that backing track. I've updated the post to explain more clearly. I added the details of the song with the thought that if someone didn't have to spend a lot of time figuring that stuff out they could just hit "play" sit back and noodle along, knowing where the best slot would be.
I apologize for the poor phrasing of my post.
Not to worry re skirmish dates etc, I am sure it will all work out and everyone will have fun ๐
thank you for your comment on Leave Me Alone!! i appreciate it
I can't seem to download the file from soundcloud! can you email or FB message it to me instead?
Thank you for your comments!
Hey there! Thanks for responding to my collab classified. Listened to some of your songs. I love the vibe of Almost Flying! I'm down for a collab if you'd like. Shall we chat about writing lyrics? You can email me at lovina1978(at)gmail.com
I think it is because I work on an iPad or iPhone which doesnโt allow downloads. But I can see if I can access a computer to do it. It sounds great!
Hi! I donโt seem to be able to download your sound cloud link to stitch for the exquisite corpse. Is it possible to email an MP3?
Perfect! Thanks.
Ha, I just realized I said "precious" contributor. I meant previous, of course.
Can you give me a snippet of lyrics from your precious contributor? I'd like to have a little continuity.
Thanks very much for the feedback on my track. I appreciate the notes.
I like Bandminton!
Go ahead and serve!
Letโs do the sound optionโsome track layeringโthen words after?

Let's do it!
Awesome, thanks!
Thanks for the heads-up! I saw it late, but I still appreciate the welcome.
Thanks for your comment on "First." Your influences are pretty much exactly my current playlist so I'll be back to listen!
Hey! I appreciate you thinking of me, but I'm afraid that much back-and-forth isn't quite what I have time for. My time for FAWM for the rest of the month is short bursts, mostly finishing up pieces I've begun in my wide open first half of the month and few forum challenges (including a random collab, which will have to be somewhat quick). Sorry.
Liked the little mondegreen ๐ , but it's actually

Whatcha thinkin'?
Thank you for your poetic comment.
thanks for your comment on my song!
Note to self zeecoop drums https://fawm.org/forums/topic/11265/
Got it! Thanks!
Eh, lyrics, per se. I spoke a little over my track, but in a way that fit the structure of the music. Last line was "This flower was so full of life it could never die."
You wrote "What did you say?" on my Soundboard. Do mean the lyrics to my Exquisite Corpse?
Hello! Here is a link to the last 10 seconds of my Acoustic LoFi Exquisite Corpse contribution:
https://files.fawmers.org/FAWM_2021/bradbrubaker/FAWM2021-bradbruba...
Sorry about the extra silence at the end.
Hey thanks for the feedback on my track, muc appreciated ๐
Oh I read about St. Bakhita and Oatmeal Day and human trafficking for more than an hour ๐ I'll for sure at least tag something if some songs inspired by pop up, and will mark the time for next skirmish. It was a great prompt ๐
Hey, thanks for your nice comment. Appreciated.
Hi, thanks for the comments - I shall try to reciprocate soon.
I've got no problem with you posting up any of my songs on FB. Thanks for asking.
I have to watch that video you sent me! It looks fascinating. Thanks for the comments, just about to go do some listening now!
Thanks for the comments on โUnderground.โ I was in a mood. ๐
Thanks for the listen and kudos. Grateful ๐
Well if once in a while you meet a rabbit, itโs all worthwhile!
Yo dude, great to be here and to see you too... I'm struggling to get off the ground but I'm flapping frantically
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my songs, they made my day!
Please tell her "thank you" from me. ๐
Glad you enjoyed my "The Women they tried to Blot Out". Yes, you're right, Music Hall or Irish Pub Songs are the best medium for getting a lot of words into the shortest space possible ๐
I find that my skirmish writes are both better and faster when I do go down a research rabbit hole. Otherwise I quickly get stuck because I bore myself if I can't come up with some kind of twist on my first concept.
Also, of course I didn't plan ahead what I was going to write for the skirmish, that would be CHEATing :le gasp:.
I'll tell you this: Animated pictures are a certain kind of delight for me to make, if only that I get to experience them with a certain freshness that I don't typically get to experience. I just read into a microphone, and sometime later, an entire world has been created around me.
-Nic
Thanks for the chord - gonna try and fit that in somewhere during FAWM!
Awesome! I've been swinging between crunching fuzz guitar and sadcore acoustic this year, with little in between, haha. Have a good FAWM!
No worries! I have songs coming out my ears, no problem ๐
Thanks for the nice comment ๐. Not sure why I havenโt watchlisted you yet... will rectify this now!
Many thanks for the recorder heads-up! ๐
Thanks for checking out "The Devil's Rain" and your nice comments!
Thanks for giving my "Salome and Poor John" a listen. I Just saved the Salome Silent Film to my Watch Later list. That's a MUST - I had no idea it still existed as a film outside private collections.
I was privileged to see Lindsay Kemp's version in London many moons ago. Despite being a "sound" version (live theatre usually is apart from mime ๐ ) Kemp managed to capture the overboard theatricality of this version and the costumes had a similar unsettling effect on the audience too. Thanks for the link.
Thanks for listening!
Top of the mornin'. I'll be back to listen as soon as I figure out why the fuck no links are working for me atm.
Thank you! looking forward to your songs!
