Influences: Viagra Boys, Idles, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Earth, Om, Kyuss, Death From Above 1979, Royal Blood, Soundgarden
Let's do 14 songs and call it a month.
It'd be a nice idea to collab with 14 people this time, so if you want bass/guitar/vocal harmony... let me know!!!
[Update: I'll try to be more present in the songmaking past the 15th of February, sorry if I'm not responding much, in particular about MAKING SONGS]
Hi Pifie.. yep, I'm in! But not super active 😞 Glad to see you here! Have fun!
Feel free to do some vocals on my song Open All Night..
Post whenever you wish ..thanks!
I could do with some live bass... and vocal and harmonies..
The metal rod sound on Slot H is from a Ghosthack soundpack, it's labeled kitchen cutlery.
Thank you for your comments! That Elephant of a synth was a Prophet 600 patch on an FM Synth. It already sounded kind of crunchy in the lower register and then I just went overkill on each subsequent wake from the nap lol.
Hola te vi en el foro de espanol y pase a saludar!
Hi! I saw your message about my untitled riff and you wanting to put a bassntrack on it. I think that would be awesome! I've never collaborated with another artist before so it's an exciting prospect to me. I will re-record it with a metronome (i'll let you know the speed when i've recorded it).
Ay no!
"I feel like a kid playing with the 'big boys' here, so much talent, like yours!"
You should hear some of the garbage I did back in 2017 when I first did this. But I kept at it and got all 14 done the first year. Then I did the 50/90 Challenge here later that year and finished that! It's all about churning 'em out--the whole "10,000 hours" thing. Keep going--it's fun!
Here's a (working, I hope) link to a PDF of the chords to "Summer Should Be Longer".
whisper whisper whisper!
OK, since you've asked twice--nicely once!--I'll get you the chords to my "Beach Boys" song "Summer Should Be Longer" tomorrow when I am at my music computer. I'm sure you'll remind me if I forget. 😉
I might just take you up on this and send you the track. or I could just send you the chords and lyric sheet and you can have fun with it.
Hey man, thanks for the feedback. I am really a drummer who sings. I have been working on learning to play guitar for the past 8-9 months. If I ever take this to the studio, I would likely belt it out a bit more to emphasize those specific lyrics and certainly lay down my drums behind it. Thank you very much for the feedback. I do appreciate it.
The vox sample is from an old radio show called "The World Adventurer's club" not sure if that's Alan watts or not to be honest. Just something we've been using the last 5 FAWMs as part of the explorers.
Thanks very much for the kind comment on "Flutter"! So encouraging to already have some listens within the first 10 minutes of posting it!
Hi Pifie. Thanks for the link. Yes, I still agree with you. This pronoun thing comes from Twitter. It represents everything that is wrong on the Internet. The spirit of Twitter is the opposite of Fawm. And now some people want to bring it here.
But I'm here to make music and come Monday people have less time for Forums. Have a great Fawm, Pifie!
OK, I am not at all sure we agree on the basic point, but maybe you didn't express yourself very clearly in the thread, which led to a lot of people and not just me misunderstanding you. If you would like to clarify in a single paragraph what you actually wanted to say, I am happy to listen. I didn't find your essay to cairobraga very clear or concise, so it was a bit hard to figure out what you were trying to convey in that. I agree with your point about social pressure, but you certainly gave the impression of speaking about how the request about adding pronouns to your profile if you feel comfortable with it seemed unreasonable. Maybe that is not what you meant. Cheers!
cheers thank you 😀 have a great fawm!
Thanks for adding me to your watchlist. Hope I don't disappoint. And for me, I hope I get at least one song uploaded. 😀 Even one would be a win in my book as I've only written one song in the past... I don't know... two years?
Listened to some of your songs on SoundCloud. I really like "Sunspot"! And "Meditation in D" is really cool, too. Like... REALLY cool. I'm likin' that one a lot.
Hope you have a fun and productive FAWM.
Huge smile for sure.
Thanks for reaching out. Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I think my original point stands, and I apologize for taking an approach that was adversarial and made you defensive. That wasn't the best thing for me to do, but I was feeling annoyed, because I've seen this kind of thing a lot and I see it repeatedly hurting my trans and non-binary friends! I would like to invite you to think about the points I made, like how much it costs you to use someone's pronouns once they have expressed a preference and you're aware of it, versus how much it makes them feel unwelcome when they see someone kicking up a big fuss about them. Maybe the name analogy I posted in the thread might help with understanding the emotional impact. Have a good FAWM!
Well my youngest is 11 so she's definitely reading and writing. Lol.
I don't really want to turn our soundboards into "Pronoun Discourse Part 2" , but I wanted to let you know that I think you were coming from a genuine place of just wishing that English didn't have gendered pronouns in the first place. Which I can't say I entirely disagree with. I think where we diverge is that I acknowledge that it does and that's not likely to change any time soon and therefore people WILL call me by pronouns - so I had better find some that I can live with.
What's up man??? I see you're off to a fast start already. Good luck this month.
Thank you for your graciousness. I'm listening to Arbol de colgar. Pretty impressive. Watchlisting you back.
Apologies if my tone in the forum came across as harsh. We all support a happy welcoming community. Hope you have a great FAWM.
thanks for the link! an interesting read.
pero creo que nos quedaremos sin acuerdo en este tema.
have a great FAWM!
I've made some things from pictures 😁 Not necessarily anything musical, but yeah it's had mixed results hahaha.
A thought: our protagonist should definitely not be neurotypical. Let's try to show what their world looks and sounds like.
Make prog? Yes! gmail me at elainedimasi and we can talk about how!
Thanks Pifie! Happy FAWM!
Thanks Pifie! Great to hear from you, look forward to seeing what you put out this Feb!
I'm open to an out-of-comfort-zone collab this FAWM - let's see if we can make it happen!
Slide (tenor) banjo for the win! It is fun to play and my usual solution for it and my guitars with high action or distressed necks is to tune them lower (for less tension ease of playing) anyway. Currently the banjo is in CGCG or C5.
(oops, my butt double-posted)
I'm gonna go low for the whole set and see what it's like! Low expectations, but optimistic. Thanks again for that intro
hey pifie!! great to see you! things are good.
silent tracks is a solid plan - might have to do a cover of a couple of those.
still digging attempting to gaze at my shoes in a haze! I actually did some drums over it last year, but they didn't feel right as so didn't say anything!
Hey! I use Ardour for my music production. For drums I started using a sampler (https://lsp-plug.in/?page=manuals§ion=multisampler_x12_do) inside Ardour, with each output going to a separate track so I can process it independently. It takes some work to set it up, but it works really nice!
I have Magma strings coming just in time : )
Hola! I saw your comment mentioning you use Linux... I also use Linux in my studio, and I love it. Looking forward to hearing your stuff!
