Artist Bio

Influences:   50s, 60s & 70s folk, country, pop, and rock.

I was the typical consumer-only music fan until getting involved with the filk* community in 2004. Since then, I've spent a lot of time on original music, writing and performing.

Outside of music, my work and play involves computers, cats, cameras, and science fiction and fantasy literature.

Thanks for your comment on "Purebred American Mutt." Yes, DNA testing can be quite the rabbit hole for some people--but where would we be without our hobbies to channel our passions? I appreciate the kind comments on so many of my songs and hope to see you and Jane around the filkerverse.

  • @ceilidh  Feb 20

Music is posted now for Touch Not the Cat and other songs! πŸ˜€

  • @ceilidh  Feb 19

Thank you for your comment on Gas Attack. It just begged to be done! πŸ˜€

  • @ericdistad  Feb 19

Oh my gosh - I hadn't really keyed into that... and now I have another idea. πŸ˜€ Thanks Phil!

  • @ceilidh  Feb 16

Thank you for your comment on Hay-on-Wye! Working on getting music up soon. Small slice of book heaven in Wales!

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 15

Thanks! I like when bright, bouncy, and tragedy intersect πŸ˜‰

What is the English traditional concept that would make "Pastel-O" out of "Pastel"? Is it just to force a rhyme?

  • @ceilidh  Feb 15

New music is up for Tiny Home πŸ˜€

  • @jaegerin  Feb 12

Thanks, Phil, for the kind words on "Moving On"!

  • @spinhead Feb 12

My dad used to say he dreamt about a wigwam and a teepee, and woke up to realize he was two tents.

  • @clioem Feb 11

    Thank you kindly!

Thanks for your comment on "Tiny Home" - as a parody, I posted the link to John Denver's performance of the original song so folks could compare and contrast the two. Given the two previous comments, I'll have to consider giving it its own tune...a FAWMer's work is never done! ...but I can play the original and sing the parody over it, and it really really works so well, it will be kind of a pity to have to divorce it from the original.

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 10

More thanks, this time for the compliment on "Only Floss the Teeth..." and "Betrayal" πŸ˜€

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 9

Thanks for your comment on "My Slippers". I, too, really enjoy that juxtaposition.

  • @ceilidh  Feb 8

UR welcome! Touch Not the Cat did the same thing to me, and I came away with a few claw marks during the rewrite.

  • @ceilidh  Feb 8

Thanks for the comment on FAWMsong! Am trying to get a panel about FAWM at OryCon in Portland Oregon this fall -- may use this as an opening either at the panel, or at opening ceremonies as a preview for the panel and other things to come...

  • @karan  Feb 8

It is a popular saying, but it's cautionary and goes: You shall not praise the day before its evening. I have always detested it, as praise works always uplifting, to both people and days. πŸ˜‰

  • @ceilidh  Feb 6

Awww - thanks for your comments on Touch Not the Cat! You were liking my cat while I was enjoying your!!

  • @spinhead Feb 6

Glad you liked my non-song πŸ˜‰

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 6

Hey Phil, thanks for your praise of "Troughs of Knowing Weeds". I like your suggestion about an "idea seeds" skirmish -- I'll put some thought into the pitch, and deliver it to the forums on the weekend.

  • @ericdistad  Feb 4

Holy cow - I blinked and then you have 7 songs? Wow! Welcome back Phil! Glad to see you making so much good stuff!

  • @mikeskliar  Feb 3

thanks for listening- and yes, I know roy zimmerman for sure, in fact i saw him in concert and met him (nice guy!) about five years ago!
    thanks again, and happy february!

  • @stuartbenbow  Feb 2

Thanks for checking out β€œFalling Down”, and leaving your thoughts. Much appreciated! πŸ˜€

The fact that your FAWM name says that you are a β€œFILK mill”, is either a stellar coincidence, or a diabolically clever bit of login-creation genius.

In either case, I hope there is a vast quantity of output in the genre.

I hope you have a great event!
