Influences: influences?...oh, you mean the artists I steal from
I’m afraid I hit a downer about two thirds through this year and couldn’t shake it off, so sorry about my lack of participation and reciprocation.
Hope to be back next year in better shape.
I have an album featuring a lot of ex-FAWM songs on Spotify -
Crumbs of Comfort by The Pannacotta Army
You'll also find it in other places like Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, etc

Tim, I loved your body of work this year. So much variety, and yet each one uniquely your own.
Maybe next year I will write something collab worthy
Hope you haven't hit the late-FAWM lull. Let me know if I can help out with a quick'n'easy collab, me doing the heavy lifting this time. (I've somehow crawled back from being hopelessly behind to almost on track.)
Thanks for your feedback. I sometimes use the cheesy midi instruments as placeholders, but I think you're right about them having a certain charm. I'll keep that in mind when I work on them after FAWM.
Just checked out your "Popular Songs" on Spotify. Really like your sound, from production through singing. Your voice has this endearing talk-sing charm that very few pull off well (like Randy Newman, but less strained).
Thanks for the push to "fix" that pop. I'd re-record, but can't due to vocal injury. Pulled it into Adobe Audition and passed over the spot with the healing brush about 10 times. 😀 Still there, but a lot less "present."
Totally true. My typical setup with a Rode NT1A records to my Voice Memos app in Mono and involves some pain importing to the computer pulling it into Adobe Audition, deleting the empty track and converting to mono, so I was trying out a pair of Behringer C-2s, and didn't attach the pop filter. Only noticed later those P's were so strong. 😀
Thank for for high praise on Mother Earth. Means so much coming from you! I was getting so sick and tired of typecasting myself as "torch lounge singer" This was so much fun
You got mail bitch. Don't make me wait (bitch)
Listen Master Oddbod, you weren’t there when the track landed ok. It was fucked for a good three minutes!
Great! Send em over! firstname.lastname@example.org. We should be able to start work on them tonight. Cheers
I see everyone likes that damn classical guitar eh? These people don't know diddly squat. Seriously though, your piece really did push me into finding a reseller and seeing Nils on Sunday. So glad I did, he was incredible!
Haha, yes! Dusted off the Telecaster 😊
Okay, so I used a bit of Koestler Rigoletto. It's not like I have a problem. I could stop any time I wanted. What do you mean, my eye's twitching? Like I said, I could stop any time I... any time I... um, 'scuse me a moment...
Ah, that's the ticket. Sorry, what were we talking about again?
You voted for my riff?? Wow...now I'm totally convinced you have no taste in riffs.
Cool, thanks. Ill listen tomorrow first thing in the morning.
\m/ Thanks dude. Acoustic rock is my jam so it wasn't so much a choice as its just who I am 😝
hey, thanks for listening. it's true it could have gone on but then the alarm ragn and it was time to fawm on
Came by to see your Valentine's Day song to Mrs Oddbod. I always look forward to them!
Yaah....let's do blues. Check your email.
I'm totally down for doing the Kinks and a blues number. If you prefer to do just one (because you're a pansy) then I'll do whatever you like. Blues, the Kinks, a polka version of a Black Sabbath song, A black Sabbath version of a polka song....whatevs.
Thank you for brightening an otherwise bleak February morning. You are a master of this art form, and your songs are some of the best written, performed and produced pieces on this site. Thank you for the music.
This is my first FAWM and first time exposing my songs to a larger audience other than immediate friends and family. I'm learning a lot listening to others. I had a great spurt in my first week, but now the muse seems to have evaporated completely, in the middle of my 6th song. Got the lyrics done but then the music just fizzled. I'll try to move to other ideas.
Thanks man! No problem at all, i enjoyed and didnt expeft to pass the first phase. Thanks for your honesty! Its all about the fun, and i learned more in my instruments so its all for the best.
No worries. 😉
It was all in fun, and I enjoyed the other 15 riffs, the trash talk and the good humour. 😀
Thank you, kind friend.
You got a mail ! Thanks dude 😁
that's so much for your comments on my tracks 😀
thank you so much for your lovely coment on 'clad in armor' 😀
ps sent you a new track!
Rainstick man wrote music for movies...and needed different tones for different scores and ended up holding onto to all of them "just in case."
Haha I just can’t stop Oddbod, THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME!! 😁😁 Thanks for listenzzzz! It means a lot 😀
Thanks for the listen and the comments, Tim. 😀
The depth of tremolo on the guitar was quite by accident. I'd caught one of the controls with the guitar cable, but I liked the result and kept it. 😉
Thanks SO much for your comments on "They Warned Me." You ever have a moment after recording a song late night, and think "What the hell have I done?" Well, anyway, thanks for making me feel better. I will spend the day learning to play the cello 😉
I'm off today to celebrate the 91st birthday of the gentleman who gave me five rain-sticks. I will be sure to ask him how and why he had so many!
Open D! Niiice. And thank YOU for the comments.
Hey, just sent you an email!
Of all the made up words and mispronunciations over a decade, you call me out on ''Chiarascuro'. I'm calling the police.
Thanks for stopping by!
Junk in the trunk is totally suggestive, given what it means 😀
Nice structure to that, but yes, -- I'll pass.
-- Nonetheless, bravo!
The year I did the Harmonica challenge, (which was as much great fun), I initially suggested "this" here this thread; but, I no sooner posted it, then I came back to a thread *filled with favorite artists riffs and best of tracks and etc, -- took on a life of it's own.
So, I'll sit back an enjoy watching it! Good one!
Haha! I can live with that
Thank you so much for the info. I have an AT40/50 condenser mic that I use for everything so I'll get another one and fool around. I have a beautiful old Lowden steel six-string that has a lovely tone but I can't seem to get the tone recorded. And yes, I just stumbled across Quirke on Netflix and I, (ahem) , had lunch with Gabriel Byrne on Elizabeth Street about a year ago. Six degrees of separation indeed...
Hi Tim! Yes I'm around, or I will be. A slow start again for me as I've had a few other things to sort out, but I'll catch up!
hahahaha I had no idea I stole your name & I promise I went for the "double ds" on purpose. And yes, please take that song as a dedication!! hahaha, thank you for all the comments & I'm just about to listen to your stuff. woo !
Extremely optional organ cheese in your inbox.
Either/or - It's all good - I love all your comments - you're a great commenter.
Tuba, awesome. Post it up. Haven't had a moment to add anything else, sorry - haven't been near my recording stuff since Sunday. (Would alternating verses between us work?)
I'm unsure if there is a challenge with @sapient. There was never anything officially set and we don't have an official championship title. What would be ace is if we can get a few fawmers and get a tournament going. So care to join the tournament or are you going to clean up your cabbage patch doll collection?
And I don't sleep with my little pony. I keep her on the dresser.
Not only is the clave a sample, it came complete with the reverb too, mwahaha! Thank you sir.. and thanks for the forum shout out too, most kind. By the way, my friend Hannah is FAWMing/writing songs for the first time ever, and you may take a particular interest in one of her songs..... https://fawm.org/fawmers/chaplino/
Good to see you again. As a reminder, can you send those files? Thanks.
You'll laugh (probably) but I just accidentally reported a comment of yours for abuse due to my new laptop having a maddening trackpad. Oops! 🙈
Excellent, send 'em over!
Let's talk collabs! How are you thinking this might work? I'd love to hear us both singing.
Two song in and I’m very impressed so far. I look forward to hearing what else you have in store.
Love your influences section. SPOT ON, for real. Here’s to another year of FAWMING! You’ll have to let me know how you feel about Studio One. I’ve been wanting to try it out. Also, we may need some slide guitar this year. Will let you know. ❤️
Oh yeah, ValhallaRoom is incredible, I like to use it heavily.
Haven’t heart of the artist, or the album, so I guess I’ll check out both them 😀 Thanks for the tecommendation!
Sampled or not, it sounds great. I was just excited by the idea of a real one!
Absolutely. I'm always up for some daft oddboddery. Shoot me an email. I should have a bit of time to warble tomorrow, but may be on the road Mon & Tues. (Piano on Plastic Mountain was the Addictive Piano Modern Upright, if memory serves.)
welcome back! you're off to a great start!
***sorry for enthusiastically posting twice heheheh
Sir Oddbod! You've been knighted right? Love your work looking forward to some newies
Sir Oddbod! You've been knighted right? Love your work looking forward to some newies
So Oddbod and the army finally merged? I'll listen to your Spotify album!
Cheers, Tim! Thanks for listening.
I haven't really investigated what's involved with Spotify & co yet. I'm more of a download man than a streamer myself (thanks to spotty Aussie internet) so getting it up on Bandcamp was the first priority.
How about this? - I'll look into streaming services if you stick your (really lovely) Crumbs album on Bandcamp. (It's pretty painless.)
Heyyy!! Good to hear from ya! I’ll be here, can’t wait to attempt to pull music from my dusty old brain 😂
Let’s try to do something!!!
Looking forward to your wonderful music...and maybe another collab
Wotcha mate. Yeah I can do Ray Winston and Noel Coward.
I keep thinking you're from Kelly's Heroes? I may be wrong?
I chose Silver Machine because I am streamlined, shiny and sexy. 😁
haha Brexit the Musical 😀 might be fun; if a little crazy
Thanks for your comment 😊🎶
OK sounds good. If it works for you the 60s/70s hits style Kinks works for me.
Good question. I like their debut album as well as their 80s stuff like Destroyer (from Give the People What They Want), Apeman (was that 80s or 70s...don't remember).
Of course Really Got Me has a great groove to it so........the verdict.....YOU DECIDE.
See how easy that was.....for me?
Also I have no internet at home so sorry for these late replies.
I read the words national resonator and got weak at the knees with delight! Looking forward to see what you come up with
Greetings fellow Kentish sonic warrior! Looking forward to hearing more musical delights from you this year!
Cool! How do you want to do this? You write I sing, I write you sing. I do the kick you do the snare?
Hey do you wanna do a power pop song ala the Kinks?
Hi oddbod, thanks for your greeting! I'm so glad to see you here and can't wait to hear what you will come up with. Looking forward to it all.
As long as you've got insurance.
I look forward to hearing what you come up with this year as well. Thanks for all your kind words last time!
Hi, I like your style of writing in the forums and I'm looking forward to following your progress. I don't know what you guys were talking about but that was a whopper of a poem you put. Nice! Have a good FAWM
Welcome back, oddbod! Happy FAWMing 😀
Hello sir, touché by your high coup pun gun! Would love to collab if the army is not overbooked this season...
Ooh, a Pannacotta album. Lovely / about flipping time. Can I buy a FLAC/lossless version somewhere? I'm a bit of a music snob, doncha know.
Yes, I am a huge F&S fan. My parents had their albums when I was growing up, and they saw them when their "At the Drop of a Hat" world tour went through San Francisco. When I started playing music, I covered several of their tunes (still do). I was in London in '78 and had the pleasure of meeting Donald Swann at a kind of retrospective/concert that he gave. Still one of my personal high points.
Heyyy you. Just saying hi!
Haha, I think I knew that already or at the very least assumed that, which made that post all the more fun 😁
Oh god your Brexit poem ... PMSL
Wow, didn't expect that! Thanks Tim. I always miss you. You're fun to pick on.
Really? Huh...I never bothered to put you on my watchlist. I save that space for music that matters.
The Tele sounds nice. I did a similar thing in reverse to you a few years back by selling my Custom Shop relic Strat and then getting a couple cheaper guitars and a new amp!
The new guitars this time round are:
Squier Bullet hardtail Strat, which was £82 new on Ebay last year. Fiesta red.
A Strat made from parts I had in my parts box, which I painted Capri orange.
A Fender Japan Traditional series Jaguar in Arctic white.
The Jag was a gift from a Japanese friend of mine, who's generosity totally blew my mind!
I also made a portable iso cab for recording guitars, which came out really well.
Hey Oddbod. Happy FAWMing and best wishes. So you're from the class of 2008 then, same as me. I'm up for a collab if you are. I'm planning on focusing on collabs in the second 2 weeks of Feb.
Thanks man! Looking forward to some new Oddbod classics! Slide guitar sounds like a fun new twist. Happy Fawming!
