Artist Bio

Influences:   Currently getting a lot of listening are – Nils Frahm, Louis Jordan, Natalie Cressman & Ian Faquini, Boz Scaggs, Patrick Watson, Mel Torme, Beck, Lizzo, Andrew Bird, Count Basie, Aris Kindt, Damian Jurado, James Hunter Six, Benoit Pioulard

I often wonder if anyone actually reads past the first few words of these bios, but in case you’re one of the curious types who does, I suppose I’d better say something. But what? The usual stuff like “this is my 37th FAWM” or “My goal is to write a concept album based on The Hungry Caterpillar”?
Or perhaps a bit of musical background such as “I started playing the double bass when I was 3”? Maybe something more personal? “I’m 102 in dog years, post-sexual and live in overturned boat at Dungeness” - that kind of thing?

The reality is I love playing acoustic guitar which happens mostly at my house in Kent. I jot down rough ideas, some of which end up turning into FAWM songs. I don’t do a lot writing/recording otherwise.

Collaborations? Yes!
I will appropriate your lyrics and add music to them, though I am prone to changing things so if you’re precious about your babies then hide them away from me!

I prefer coffee, but both is a fine idea!

  • @adforperu  Mar 2

yeah dude, always! Just doing some watchlist catching up, so it's a shame I won't be listening to your music today..

I joke of course, on my way!

  • @thefuneralcrasher  Mar 2

Ta for the kind words...yes...setting sons era, please! I agonised over using those lyrics... as the jam were such an "English" band...but I was desperately trying to get a song finished...cheers 😃

  • @judypie  Mar 2

    Oui corps étrange!

  • @mikedebenham  Mar 2

Yep, you've definitely got your FAWM mojo back. Congrats on the win (+ 3-4).

(The numbers were Finnish, courtesy of my better half.)

  • @iwilleatyou  Mar 1

Yeah yeah i know....Julie is the rock star and I'm just the drummer.

California. But I'm in a very secret hideout so stalkers like you can't find me. Yes......I'm Batman.

  • @helenseviltwin  Mar 1

PMSAD is when pre-menstrual stress teams up with seasonal affected disorder to make me angry and tearful

  • @mikedebenham  Mar 1

Casio and matofono is actually a brilliant idea. Cheers, Tim. Back tomorrow to catch up on your final gems.

  • @mdavisto  Mar 1

You cut me to the quick, sir.

  • @mikedebenham  Mar 1

Ha, possibly a bit late for a proper collab since I'm now in March, but if you ever need the dying walrus fart of the matofono on one of your tracks, I'm your man.

  • @katmtl Feb 29

Hey there! Thank you for listening!❤️❤️❤️😎😎😎

  • @erelpi10  Feb 28

I never say no to bass & synth so if you feel like adding onto On Loop post-FAWM and once you’re caught up on sleep, let me know. I’d love to work with you in the future

  • @dzd  Feb 27

adds other comment drooling over your brilliance 😀

    another great tune man!

  • @kristian  Feb 27

    Congratulations on the win!

  • @mdavisto  Feb 27

Congrats on your win. I'll mop up the last ones soon.

The reason you're hearing two voices is that the second one is me. That song is literally a 30 minute jam session. We looped the groove and when we both had a verse, we recorded it, 2 takes each, and done. I enjoyed not vanishing into my navel like I do on most tracks.

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 27

Some airy synths for the second and third verses and a bit of grit for the background of verse three: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iz7ekxnlbog...

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 27

Got it. I love where this one's going. Going to try adding a few little synth touches this morning for additional moodiness, but nothing major.

  • @jeustan  Feb 27

I can’t wait to come back and listen through.

  • @sherrycanary  Feb 25

Wish we could have done a collab.
Bad timing for ill health....but I am back!
    Anything's possible, right?

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 25

A couple of initial ideas on the nine-string here:

  • @mikedebenham  Feb 25

  • @mikedebenham  Feb 25

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 24

RE: Nicolas Cage ... I know he sounded pretty awful.. he said he had some head cold thing going on

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 24

I have no idea what you're on about. I would NEVER stoop so low as to report a fellow FAWM brother.
I absolutely love your music my good friend who I would never back-stab and report to MOFA because I have no idea who they are because I never heard of them.

  • @mdavisto  Feb 24

According to the OED, Teh Fear, also known as Feart, is when you perceive an inverse correlation between number of unwritten songs and number of days of FAWM remaining.

Meh. I don't really care that I'm not going to hit 14, except that a small part of me does.

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 24

    Got it, thanks!

  • @hanley  Feb 24

Hehe, just catching this cross thread of communication about Nils Frahm VSTs between you, Ad and I.
I found the Nils Frahm 'Noire' VST, his grand piano... but just checking out the Una Corda one now and holy heck that one looks incredible! Didn't realise Nils had essentially commissioned the guy to make him a new instrument!
Not sure if I'm game to lay down the $200+ price, but worth it compared to €20,000 for the real deal!

  • @hanley  Feb 24

Yes, that certainly is the Labs soft piano you heard! I couldn’t recall if it was you who got me onto the Labs stuff last year, and now Ad’s on the wagon! Definitely going to invest in their felt piano too.
I’ve been listening to lots of Max Richter and Nils Frahm of late, which has inspired me to sit at the piano and keep things simpler.

  • @adforperu  Feb 24

Ha, can't remember what 'unicorda' is in response to, did I ask about a vst? @hanley also mentioned the £29 piano vst as well, sounds like a bargain so might have to invest. The LABS stuff is amazing though!

  • @sapient  Feb 24

Thanks so much for listening to our madness. While using a number station sequence as a kind of guitar tab was simple, finding the chords that matched it was a nightmare. These spies don't make it easy for us poor musicians! 😉

  • @deena  Feb 24

Hi @oddbod , I'm thrilled! Thank you for writing such beautiful music and carrying me along with your super groove. I always love collaborating with you. <3

  • @judypie  Feb 23

Hey! You leave pink out of this ok? I’m a very hardcore rockstar 😡

  • @judypie  Feb 23

There’s nothing dirty about pumpkin pie oddbod!!

  • @klaus  Feb 22

Wow, somebody has been busy! 😀 It's a shame really that Fawm is so hectic when your demos are so good that I would want to listen to them more often than I can right now and leave more meaningful comments too.

Congratulations are in order. You seem to have had the best of Fawms this year so far! You are an inspiration to us all.

Oh, I nearly forgot: thanks for the comments. 😀

  • @beautyspot Feb 22

Hey, thanks for listening to all my noodling and providing feedback. I will definitely try adding reverb to my mixes of recorded piano. Funny thing about the Piano Stool, Beer and Candles recording is that I had laid down a whole bunch of stuff, but upon listening there was a nasty rumbling sound in the recording, making them unusable!. Discovered it could be there is moisture in the condenser microphones, so I left them out above the fireplace to dry for a few days. Then I lit some Candles, poured myself some Beer, sat on the Stool in front of the Piano and began playing and recording, Upon listening back, I was happy to find the rumbling gone and four nice little compositions. Thanks for listening

  • @redlady8029  Feb 21

I see your open to collaborations. Would love to collaborate with you.

  • @mikedebenham  Feb 19

I hate to think how old those strings are. Some of them are probably eligible to vote. I kind of like the musty sound of that guitar, so only replace them when they break.

Not our old friend this time, just an accordion patch. Good reminder though. One of us has to get some Koestler action going before the end of the month. Don't want to break hallowed FAWM tradition.

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 19

You should have an email from me. Please let me know if it hasn't arrived.

  • @leepat  Feb 19

hi Tim, thanks for stopping by. how did you know you were one of the usual lyric transforming suspects? well, the thought did cross my mind. but I'm out early this year, so not in a position to ask for anything (esp. this late in the season) and acutely aware of the shortness of time to boot. Cheers!

  • @stephenwordsmith Feb 19

    You are welcome, as ever.

  • @adforperu  Feb 18

*Maybe* Jonny Greenwood could stop doing that Adam Follett Trilling Guitar Thing™ once in while!

  • @drdude Feb 18

    Thanks for all the comments.

  • @judypie  Feb 17

I appreciate the effort you went to in dissing our song 😁and can we please have mantavani style strings on our collab 😛

  • @judypie  Feb 15

Hahaha I just checked my email and was like who the fuck is Tim?! 😂 Should be a requirement that all our emails have our fawm users in! Thanks though dude, I will give it a neb soon 😁

  • @mariekevinkmusic  Feb 14

Hi! Of course. Send them my way with whatever instructions you want! Cool! Thanks for asking.

  • @judypie  Feb 14

    Splendid, splendid

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 14

Hi Tim - whatever you're happy doing! I could add some guitars and synths to a track of yours, or create something for you to add your magic to. Maybe a verse/chorus split on the vocals, like I did with Mel?

  • @spunky4455 Feb 14

Haha glad you liked my Tan Van offering! I find that if I stick to the rules exactly it adds more to the challenge. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your FAWM.

  • @judypie  Feb 14

Haha it’s the welcome hall to hell!
Hmm I do have a lot of fingers in a fair few pies at the moment but would love to listen and see if I can work with it sure 😀

  • @judypie  Feb 14

    Death/Golf. What’s the difference?

  • @unkept Feb 13

    I added "rock-hopper" as you suggested! 😀

Thank you for the contribution. Welcome to the church of Penguinism.

We accept suggestions, we also accept fish.

  • @sw1n3flu  Feb 13

HHah. Rebel? Yeah well sort of... I’d already recorded it and uploaded it before I re-read the rules. Fkit.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 13

Good old LAN parties and their enthusiasts. Or, alternately, the fans you would have to bring to such parties because of having lots of high-heat producing CPUs in close proximity... I betray my age a little here...

  • @judypie  Feb 12

Nooooo I think you just wildly overestimated my learning speed! I’m sure it didn’t take YOU three hundred and twenty seven years! 😛

  • @deena  Feb 12

Hello @oddbod, just sent you an email!

  • @mdavisto  Feb 12

Absolutely nothing to do with my spasmosm last year. My official diagnosis is Complex PTSD, because I'm posh and just run of the mill PTSD is not good enough for me.

  • @sapient  Feb 11

I find it all rather baffling tbh... 😐

  • @uonfsofficial Feb 11

Dear associate, thank you for your comment. We contacted Mr. Bruce Allen and invited him and Mr. Michael Buble to our country. When they arrive, their passports will be confiscated at the airport security and they will receive new passports of the UONFS!

    Thank you,

    Ministry of Foreign Affairs

  • @uonfsofficial Feb 11

    Dear Associate of the UONFS,

Thanks to your efforts we have discovered the treacherous plan of the terrorists who call themselves SOCAA. Their hideout has been raided. Their computers were confiscated and the terrorists have been liquidated and their remains were fed to dogs. Their children are taken into custody by the Ministry and will be placed into our Citizen Rehabilitation Program. They will become proud members of our fine Federal States.

Please accept the highest ranking civilian medal a non-UONFS person can achieve. Wear it with pride.

    Thank you,

    Ministry of Foreign Affairs

  • @matthew62  Feb 11

I appreciate your comments on "Sometimes".

  • @matthew62  Feb 11

Thanks for the comments on "This blue Ball...." Did you like the little surprise of getting an entirely different genre? That's what happens when I try to multitask. I've since deleted the extra song. Sorry for the confusion.

  • @mikedebenham  Feb 11

It was kazoo, I'm afraid. Comb and paper would have been more authentic but come on, you think I'm made of money?

  • @boyatheart Feb 11

Thanks so much for linking my song in the recommended song thread. I'm very humbled by that, especially coming from the mighty Oddbod!
    Your a true gent!

  • @keithcuts  Feb 10

    Lol 💪🏼

  • @msisto Feb 10

Thank you for the kind words on my track "The Superb Owl"! It means so much 🙏. Added you to my watch list, and will come back tonight to listen!

  • @andrewjtaylor  Feb 10

I’d forgotten just how great your guitar playing was. And your bio is hilarious. Glad to have “rediscovered” you.

  • @adforperu  Feb 10

I can't listen until later, but it sounds as if you wish to do a rap battle. Interesting... good luck, as if anyone could beat Sheffield's Robbie Williams 😎

  • @judypie  Feb 10

Yes thankyou, I am making notes..

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 2020

If that's your cute way of saying the song is immature then all I have to say is SCROO YOO DOO DOO HEAD!
I'm not listening to your new songs so nyaaah

  • @judypie  Feb 2020

We have more in the death catalog coming soon. But jeez, WHAT WE GOTTA DO TO GET A 10 ODDBOD?!

  • @oldlostjohn  Feb 2020

No smoking, perhaps a little gravel in the quinoa.

  • @jacobeverettwallace  Feb 2020

No offense taken at all, nor apologies necessary! I was genuinely curious and always appreciate more critical reviews as they help me grow as a songwriter. I have thick skin and take any critiques to the drawing board for seeing how things could be better this time or next time. Commenting here does get repetitive, I've found myself being more critical too but that's par for the course. I'm enjoying your songs, sir! Keep it up.

  • @brandondale72  Feb 2020

Thanks for leaving kind words on my track, “Frozen Lake”.

  • @steffan  Feb 2020

Re: string intro... I may go in and shorten/edit/kill it. At the time I thought it was hilarious... it brings me less joy upon repeat listenings.

  • @deena  Feb 2020

    Thanks for your kind message.

  • @mdavisto  Feb 2020

Narp, sorry. I mean I remember writing the comment, but as I couldn't hear the track, it didn't make an impression.

  • @socaa Feb 2020

Concept reply: Please don't! You are endangering both our lives and our mission!

  • @jacobeverettwallace  Feb 2020

Thanks for all the great comments and feedback on my songs! I was curious if you could elaborate a little more on your thoughts on Egypt. I'd like to know more about that. The song plays really well just on the piano so I'm wondering if the production killed some of the melodies. Always appreciate your input!

  • @steffan  Feb 2020

Oh my god. Thanks for hipping me to spitfire labs stuff! Sparking all sorts of ideas over here.

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 2020

I wish I had your SHADDAP. Sorry. I'll come up with something more witty later....and boy! Will you be Touche'd!

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 2020

Yes mixing bores me to death and it's a challenge ok? Happy now? As for that band mate...don't tell her I told you but.....she lip-synchs.

  • @iwilleatyou  Feb 2020

Aren't Liberace and Elton John one and the same person?

  • @aflinner  Feb 2020

Thank you for all the kind comments on my songs! Glad you enjoyed them. 😁 (Actually, I’ve never heard of Portishead)

  • @gslade Feb 2020

Thanks for dropping by sir. I appreciate the feedback. Hopefully I can keep the energy up in the subsequent songs.

  • @karlsburg25  Feb 2020

Ha ha. Good spot . The cough is cos I never intended to have my vocal in the song but Natalie isn’t available yet so had to get it up. Forgot I did honked up at that point tbh 🤣

  • @judypie  Feb 2020

They’re all in there oddbod! Pete is just shitty at mixing so they’re all too low!

  • @chrisshepard Feb 2020

Thanks so much! The effect was largely to cover up what I thought was a weak line that I didn't want to go up and re-record. haha. I still like it. I get bored with my own stuff and start tinkering. As soon as I get back to a functioning computer, I'm going to give you a listen!

  • @alchemy730  Feb 2020

Hello fellow Crodino lover. In the early 2000's I spent years searching for a store that sold Crodino. Finally found one near Long Beach. They stopped carrying it 3 weeks later. Years later, I'm finally able to talk openly about it.

  • @captainvulpine  Feb 2020

Of course I'll take the gig.
    Anything for Uncle Oddy.

  • @deadhead  Feb 2020

Thanks for checking out Labour of Love. I'm glad you liked it!

  • @judypie  Feb 2020

Hahaha thank you oddbod:) He IS shiftless isn’t he, you’re dead on.

  • @judypie  Feb 2020

Hi oddbod. Eye will eat u are not hear to take your call right now but your feedback is very important to us. Please leave your message after the tone.........

  • @owl  Feb 2020

Hello oddbod! Thanks for coming by to comment. I love hippies

  • @hamiltonpoolhall  Feb 2020

Some of us *do* read past the first few sentences, and in this case, are rewarded with a totally enjoyable read 😀. Welcome back for your 37th FAWM!

  • @hornesgiftshop  Feb 2020

Emphasise. So it is. Yes that does make sense. In that case, great song, no buts.

  • @meadows  Feb 2020

Thanks @oddbod for your kind comment on my song and your suggestion! 😀

  • @hamiltonpoolhall  Feb 2020

Hi @oddbod! Good to see you again and looking forward to listening. Got your message on my board; I pulled my song back down because the link seemed wonky; it's back up now.

  • @kristian  Feb 2020

Off to the office for the daily grind; I’ll get on it when I get home 😀

  • @kristian  Feb 2020

ops; didn't see your message cause my watchlist is like all of FAWM; email is fine! Looking forward to it!

  • @inger  Feb 2020

Thanks so much for your comment on The Ring - kind and encouraging as always 😀
