Artist Bio

I started playing the piano at 5, trombone at 9, and tuba at 12. Since then I've played (with greater or lesser degrees of success) baritone horn, blues harp, bugle, fiddle, F horn, guitar, and trumpet. Today, I play guitar and fiddle, and struggle with the harp. With all that, I think of myself as a singer who's trying to learn instruments as backup.

I see you commented a - week. Well, I get that! I do.

However, "online" is tough to communicate and not get into trouble, quick. 😀 why a week? And not to be funny, use humor?, (which I do), but, - it's tough to know why the week, and what that means.

    - Asking questions like you may need answers to in a general forum will get you hammered with right and wrong, useful and not.

As you may have read me write, - a person asks how to "Record" and gets answers about Mixing, Plug ins and DAW's - well, that covers equipment recommendations and mixing, but not "Recording". But no one speaks up. 😀 Well, I do, if there.

The young lady who sings in my one track with backing vocals, threw a Blanket over two chairs, as a "booth" 😀 and another time, backed into her closet to sing into her computer, to block the Katmandu, Nepal city sounds, and into a very much cloned cheap mic when used one.

    So, if that makes sense?

For all I know it took a week because you were waiting for new strings for your Upright Bass 😀 hahhh? Man, those are expensive!! Last time for me, $99 for my cello.

    - I don't know who said "overproduced" to you or in what context (in that forum?, somewhere, - not me).

Moreover, I do *appreciate the *rare thank you, here from you, too! Again, your recording, your bounce track, your demo, your rough-track, is quite fine! (And they give you 9 days in that challenge 😀 )

  • @ustaknow Mar 8

Well, you're not "new" to music 😀 And, as far as recording goes, some say it takes years, and money and lots of trial an error. Me, I say, it's actually quite simple and takes about 15-20 minutes to - Record, well. Then, a few beyond easy manual thing-isms in a very old and very free DAW - Audacity and you're good to go.

'#'12 there, sounds "submission" ready, to me and as a "contender", -- well, if it were new/original to the Challenge there, - of which you speak 😀

It sounds like you already know how to record and, what is it they call it 😀 "mix".

Playing a dog house that clear with the other and singing on pitch at good dB levels, - what else is there? 😀

I'd stop listening to the "cool kids" about what's good, and right and "good", oh and did I say good? 😀 hahhh!

    Happy FAWMOVER!

I learned "The Antediluvians Were All Very Sober" by Benjamin Franklin set to the tune of "The Top of Cork Road" which is a traditional Irish tune. It scans fine. It is a very old tune and was very common back then to set new lyrics to tunes everyone knew.

You can always add lyrics if you like. I am not precious about my doodles- just having fun!

Gertrude Stein! A favourite of mine 😀 dadaist writer from the salons and society of 1930s Paris ❤️

It's a reverse reverb delay, just lightly blended with that main acoustic line...... great pedal, easy to lose control of, but tons of fun to just go bonkers with.

  • @estebanlartigue  Feb 27

    thank you !

  • @estebanlartigue  Feb 27

    Yeah! Lyrics is letras 😀

  • @skibum1066  Feb 22

OK. I have removed it completely from my systems. Hope the remainder of your fawm is as productive the first 2/3.

  • @skibum1066  Feb 22

No problem. I will take it down immediately. I had attempted(I thought to get your permission a couple of days ago (I thought)but I didn't hear from you and so I just went for it. My apologies. Hopefully no harm done. We don't need to talk further. I wrote the melody based on my instincts. My best wishes that you find what you are looking for

Hi there.. thanks for the explanation re poke. I've just looked it up as well cause for some reason I had an association of pig in a poke as a bonnet (or am I mixing metaphors? ) and checking out your profile it seems you are a a brass player (once a brass player always) so "Hello" . I started on horn (well I had a couple of weeks on trumpet) I also played BBb Bass for two years, carried on on horn, but started playing trumpet more seriously in my thirties. I have also at times played cornet, Baritone, Tenor Horn, erm Eb Bass, Trombone (badly) and Euph. I come from a brass band area of the UK though I'm not a hardened bander.. (But I did love it, though its pretty much a way of life: two or maybe three rehearsal per week) I don't pick up the horn often enough, but its great to go back to.

I'd like to put music to your poem "Sing". If you are open to collaborate, I am too

  • @tunecat  Feb 20

hi thanks so much for your positive comments on my reflections track: the instruments came from an online DAW called "soundtrip" and I think the main one was a kalimba, but also pizz strings, and a Rhodes..

  • @pipewrench67  Feb 20

Awesome, Narcissus was my original thought.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 20

It's just practice. The more you do it, the easier it gets to do. 😀

  • @winchperry Feb 20

Thank you for your comments on "Annamarie" tonight. Yeah, it was kinda weird to do the double verses at the end of the song, I was just feeling a little crazy tonight and I said "what the hell", Maybe I'll add an instrumental break between v 2 and v 3 or a bridge.

  • @unpronounceable Feb 20

Actually, I do not have any children hehe. However, I did give birth to a thesis this past Summer? 😝

Hello, Thanks for the comment left on the French Version of 'Love the Moment' actually a bit was lost in translation from English to French with the beginning verse, the words homeward bound was intended by me to mean like to the afterlife. But yeah her vocals and music are lovely and love her take, but I do see your point on being a bit overpowering the music.

  • @nuitarie Feb 18

Thank you so much for your detailed comment on "love the moment". I'm still working on finding the right balance when mixing between instruments and voice, it's an on-going fight with myself and my DAW ^^.

And you know what? You're actually right about the order in which things were done. The English text is the first creation, I translated it and THEN recorded the song. After that I recorded the version with the original text in English. The phrasing, the sentences' structures demanded some tweaking and it might feel more fluid in French.

Anyway, thank you again and happy FAWM 😁

  • @cindyrella  Feb 4

    You may be right! 😀

  • @apolez3 Feb 3

    Hey, Happy FAWMing!
