Artist Bio

Influences:   Mostly things that start with 'P' or 'M'. Pink Floyd, Mountain Goats, Monks of Doom, Pere Ubu, My Bloody Valentine, Phish, Metallica, Parliament, Morphine, The Pogues, My Morning Jacket, The Pixies, Iggy Pop... they're just some really good letters I guess.

I was born. After years of deliberation, I decided to roll with it. I continue rolling.

I hope you’ll perform Spitball at FAWM Over today

I think it's amazing how we sublimate the musical styles of artists we admire. That even if we're unable to replicate it to our ears, others can still pick up elements of it. It's really cool. As are XTC!

Not to worry, I view all my FAWM songs as first drafts that will need to be cleaned up majorly in March! Otherwise how could I possibly finish so many? I'm hoping my comments can help smooth that process down the road!

Re FAWM files MP3 not playing: I'm having that problem on all songs on that platform, guess I'll restart computer.

    Hi Mike,
Check out the Massachusetts forum page. We're planning a FAWMover get together in Somerville.

Hi Mike, you're welcome and just keep writing. I tend not to critique ever, especially here because songwriting has so many elements to learn and that can be swapped, tweaked or twiddelled that there are many answers to one question. For example, the 'Tan Van Man' challenge here where there are umpteen different musical approaches to an identical lyric and chord set. For lyrics I find using specifics (who, what, where, when, why, how question answers) and sense writing (taste, touch, sound, sight, feel, balance, perspective) really can help a lyric bloom. Using another song as a musical template also helps eliminate decisions. For me songwriting was/is like learning to ride a bike. At first its all awkward and I fell down a bunch of times, then at some point my subconscious started figuring it out and I just started do it. I still fall down sometimes though but not as much. Happy FAWM'ing!
