(Not) Gearing up for my 2nd FAWM - what I write, I will write, when I write!
Got my first guitar at age 15, never looked back (but may have left it in the closet for a few years along the way).
5 self-released CDs of various styles of music. Now I just call it 'electric-acoustic folk-rock' when people ask what genre.

Play guitar, uke, keyboards, bass, Merlin (ask!), and whatever instruments I can fake things on (mandolin, harmonica, new -used- violin). I use Reaper for recording (willing to do collaborations).

Along with my collaborator and friend @tamsnumber4 I run a monthly songwriter meeting, Songwriters of New Hampshire Group (SONG) where we discuss songwriting and bring songs for suggestions and critiques in a casual songwriter circle format.
I run an acoustic open mic every other Wednesday in Methuen, MA - original (FAWM!) songs welcome!
@tamsnumber4 and I will also be hosting an open mic in Nashua, last Saturday of the month starting in March (3/28).

Thank you for your comment on "You Take Me As I Am"! And while I'm here, really a fan of your song titles this FAWM–now I'm on my way to listen to a few 😀

  • @scubed  Feb 29

Thanks so much for your kind comment on "The Copperheads"! Yes, we do have rattlesnakes out here. But where I grew up was much worse: We had water moccasins, copperheads, coral snakes, and Eastern Diamondbacks. 😱😄

Congratulations on winning the trophy! I look forward to stopping by after FAWM is over to hear some more of your songs.

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 28

Thanks for listening to my song "Back to Banbury" and for the laugh!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 27

Thank you very much for your kind comment!

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 25

Thank you for commenting on my songs "Bench by the Sea", "Your Last Goodbye", "Erase Me", "Half Way There" and "The Naked Eye" and collab songs "Traveling Light", "Who We Really Are", "This Time", "Kiss Me Again" and "In Her Garden", I appreciate it!

  • @kc5 Feb 25

    Hey Mike,
I wondered the same. It was a toss up for me. You may have inched my decision toward doing as you suggest. Thanks!

  • @arose  Feb 24

Thanks for the comment on "Middle of Happily Ever After!" I do really like Taylor Swift, and her song "Love Story" that ends with a wedding was part of my inspiration for that lyric. Thank you so much!

  • @colgoo Feb 24

I will extend the time for our rental. I really don’t think it will be an issue as I have looked through the building calendar. (I actually work there, so I will be arriving at 7:30 a.m. and will set up for our party after coffee hour ends. I am so excited to see you all on Sunday!!!)

  • @blackrose1313 Feb 23

    Thanks for your comment!

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 23

Hi Mike - glad you liked the Tele song. The FX chain for the guitars on that track was a Digitech "Bad Monkey" overdrive into a Zoom G3, with its stereo outs DI'd straight into the DAW.

  • @dzd  Feb 23

Thank Mike that means a lot, and I truly hope so, hope hes hanging out with an old poet friend of mine and they both got a chuckle this morning, got one of his things recorded as well too, but copyright etc, need to get in touch with his family, they hopefully wont mind, he sure as hell didnt 😀

  • @gwyn1234  Feb 22

Thanks for your response to our Rockabilly track...very much appreciated!

  • @aesthetic72  Feb 22

Thanks for your comment on Sundazzle!

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 21

That one line of "Gold In El Dorado" 'looks' too long but the syllable count of all the lines is 11 syllables, so the music and singing of all lines are the same. But you're welcome to edit/rearrange.

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 21

mikeb, thanks for viewing "Gold In El Dorado". Feel free to edit and record the song anyway you wish.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 21

    Her lover’s ashes...

  • @scubed  Feb 21

Thanks so much for the generous comment on my silly little ukulele song!

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 20

mikeb, thanks for reviewing "Halfway To Wyoming". As for the suggested bridge, I fully agree with you. Writing a bridge is a weak point for me.

  • @peternh Feb 18

Mike: Glad you noticed my changes to the Dog song after the discussion at our last songwriting group. You, Tammy, and the others pointed out some issues with my first draft of that song, so I went back and restructured it and gave it a new focus. Thanks for the feedback. I think it's a better song now for sure.

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 17

Thank you for your kind comments on my songs, "Wash Me Clean" and "Insecure".

  • @metalfoot  Feb 16

I was the King (Humperdinck's father) and a couple other bit parts to fill out crowd scenes and such. A small part by design. I'm lousy at memorizing lines!

  • @yaquimike Feb 13

    Happy FAWM!

  • @gwyn1234  Feb 13

Cheers for the kind comments @mikeb on Green Celtic Eyes...😀

  • @zecoop  Feb 13

I was jonesing for a multi-track cassette player in the 80's too when my band was playing at college. We settled for a boombox in the corner most times and when we finally got a hard to use 4-track, we only had three mics, lol. I recorded an album just after college using two cassette players connected to a Radio Shack 4-track mixer. I'd play, then swap the tape between decks. Play the first and add something else, swap and repeat. The issue was every time we swapped the tape, the speed went up a little because the decks were not the same exact speed, hahaha. Finally got a 4-track in the 90's and still love using it (and the 8-track now) 😀

  • @jessicagraae  Feb 13

Thanks for the deets on Nashua! It would be fun if it worked out.

  • @cindyrella  Feb 12

Yeah, I haven't toured it and don't dare! I already pick up stuff. I almost fainted at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Ar.

  • @jessicagraae  Feb 12

Thanks for your empathetic comments. I am sorry you'll be spending Valentine's alone.

I'll be up in NY in April. Probably not that far from Nashua (Eaton). Would be cool if your songwriting group were doing something that weekend.

  • @misterd Feb 11

Thanks Mike for listening and kind words on my piano song . I hope you are having a good fawm ! Cheers

  • @scubed  Feb 11

Thanks for your nice comment on “King Midas”!

  • @dzd  Feb 7

    Re: blues diddy
well vented then! haha I should be writing, but going around just listening ain't wasting my time 😀

  • @dragondreams  Feb 7

    Thank you loads, Mike. 😀

  • @cindyrella  Feb 4

    Thanks, she is.

  • @s7even  Feb 3

Thank you for checking out “Quicksand”. I’m pretty happy with it as a start off song.

  • @kovbleu  Feb 3

Thank you so much for your comment on "This Promise." My husband got me the P220 for Christmas! Total surprise! I'm still getting used to how sensitive it is but I think it will work great for certain songs.

  • @scubed  Feb 1

Thanks for your lovely comment on “Jupiter is Rising in the Morning”! Great to see you here - hope you have a wonderful FAWM. 😊

  • @mikegtz  Feb 1

Hi Mike, welcome back to the colloseum of FAWM.

    It's very much appreciated.

    Happy Fawm!

  • @onewholovesrock Jan 29

Yo Mike! I almost forgot about FAWM! Good to see ya here again!

  • @dzd  Jan 29

Thanks for the info. I'll probably be in Manchester next week. I prefer browsing the stores over the internet. Some of my favorite pedals I've had, I never knew I wanted.

  • @peternh Jan 28

Hey Mike. Thanks for the welcome message. Looking forward to giving this FAWM thing a try. I was already pretty inspired after joining the songwriting group; this is going to push me even more. Looking forward to hearing your new songs, too.

  • @dzd  Jan 28

    Have a good fawm!
I'm gonna probably have to chew your ear off later about somewhere for some gear etc lol. I've been here since November, still looking for the cheap gear honeypots.

  • @natrin Jan 23

Happy FAWMing! Passed through your area a few times on tour last year; it's good to know about your open mic.

  • @wistah  Jan 23

Happy FAWM @mikeb looking forward to February!

  • @carleybaer  Jan 20

Happy FAWM! Sadly, I’m no longer in MA; I moved clear across the country back to Portland OR. But I’ll still be listening to ya 😀

  • @kellylog99 Jan 19

Hey mike! So excited for FAWM 2020!

  • @tamsnumber4  Jan 19

Happy you are participating again my friend, can't wait to hear what you create!!
