FAWM was good for me. Learned a few things and wrote more than I expected. A little peer pressure goes a long way toward being productive! And it's good to hang out with others on the same kind of road.
Thanks for your comment on A veces, it really made my day because I think I'm just starting to learn how to do all of this. The thing that has helped me the most (besides watching youtube videos) is playing with all the effects/buttons/knobs while recording and making songs.
Thanks for commenting on my song Castillos de papel. I've uploaded a demo now, but I don't like it very much.
And congrats on achieving your goal for this FAWM! I really enjoyed listening to your songs
Thanks for commenting on my song Sopa de miel, and again congrats on reaching your FAMW goal 😉
Nope didn't sound folksy(not that that would of been bad) my personal tastes would have it an angsty screamer, but I tend to go that route with about everything LOL.
Thank you for commenting on my song Como me deshago de ti. I think the saying "you can't get blood from a turnip" (never heard of it BTW) refers to the same that the one that I used on my song. Keep the good songwriting going!
Hey Mika! Thanks for taking the time to listen to my jazz effort “The Melting Snow” and leaving the really encouraging comment. I really appreciate it. Thank you SO much.
Hahhh, iphone and headphone mic, - shhhh, it's secret sauce 😀
- I love the sing-a-menu challenge... with all the lock down take out, - could be quite entertaining. Do it! Put it up! If nothing this time, then next. (We cook allot, but otherwise it's Mexican Take-out, or typical "Pizzaria")
LMK if do.
Thank you for listening to two of my sons, and your very nice comments. Much appreciated.
Thank you for commenting on my songs. I love harmonies as well! I keep wondering if lots of stuff that I do are cheating, but I think if it's finishing ideas and not posting something that you entirely wrote before it's....ok? I guess.
Oh, thank you for those comments, - it's great when someone else likes your stuff, authentically 😀 hahhh.
Thanks! I grew up around a resurgence movement of psychedelia, mixed with more punk/folksy stuff. So that was pretty tame by those standards, and I didn't even notice the "weirdness" of it while doing it, felt like a pretty "clean" guitar line to me. 🤣 An actual after fawm demo will probably be acoustic rhythm, with just electric on the leady bits. She did such a good job with lyrics and vocal I felt bad I just crapped the music out 😁
Hey! Thanks so much for your comment on "I dont care" 😀 we're having good fun writing for this challenge so far! 😀
Like all 3 of these, Black Box immediately stands out but others are growers I think. Like your voice.
Thanks for your feedback re Annie Says, Miga. Just need a tune for it now...
Thanks for the kind words on my Ukulele song. So I guess you heard it when I very first posted the SoundCloud demo. Well, I very quickly deleted it because... ugh, we’re our own worst critics right?
So I recorded again and got what I think is a better take. And I think it’s because I started to get the song “under my fingers” a little better so to say. And I... I don’t know. Adjusted my voice to sound... not so weird?
Anyway, so about your question of process... I’ve never been asked a question about my songwriting process so you’re the first. And thank you. I feel important now. 😀
Honestly, I think I came up with the first couple of lines when I saw on the forum that it was “world uke day”. At work I took a little time here and there to finish out the song and as I tried to commit the lyrics to memory the melody for the first two lines came to mine. I realized it sounded similar to a melody for a song I wrote years ago so I just stole that progression and repurposed it. I didn’t want it to identical to an old song so I was intentional about trying to change it. I don’t know... it just kind of flowed as I listened to the progression after recording a scratch track.
Anyway, this is getting really long. Thank you again for the kind words. Mwah!!!
Welcome to fawm! Enjoy - it’s a lovely community!
No worries and thx for the reply. There are lots of little townships and villages in PA that I either have never heard of or could not tell you where they are. Also I am from a family of perfectionists but that never seemed to infect my songwriting LOL.
Welcome 2 FAWM!
Yes it is lots of fun here and in my time of songwriting, and even online challenges, FAWM is quite a unique experience. Also side fun fact, I am originally from and still have family in the Dubois-Punxsutawney area.
It'll work just fine! Keep the perfectionist locked away till March 1st.
Welcome to FAWM! Even if you only write a few songs, it'll be a few songs more than you had before.
Quick tip I forgot to mention in our previous conversation: when people write on your soundboard, they won't see it if you reply. If you want to reply back to people, you have to go to their soundboard and post there. It's a bit different from the forums that way, just one of FAWM's little quirks. Cheers!.
Best of luck this FAWM. There is a lot of inspiration here, and a lot of people that have encouraged me for many 'less than perfect' posts.
Welcome to FAWM! From your profile, it sounds like you're definitely in the right place. 😀 This is a very supportive community and the speed of the challenge definitely helps me let go of perfectionism to a large degree. I hope you find loads of inspiration and have a blast!
Hi Miga. I’m new here as well and for the same reason you stated about feeling like i have a lot to say but don’t write it down.
I think my biggest worry is I actually finding out I don’t have anything to say... at least nothing worth spending the time to write music for.
Anyway, hopefully FAWM will knock that feeling out of us right. Happy FAWMing!
and just a fyi if replying to someone even if you @theirnamehere them on your soundboard it won't show up in their notifications. It's common around here for back and forth conversations on each others soundboards. There's a few little quirky things like that about the site.
Cheers to a great first fawm for you!
Thank you both!
Welcome to FAWM!!!
Welcome, and happy FAWMing!
