Influences: Bands
Major Danby are Dan Boyle & Karl Stanford.
2019.
Dan: Here again and really looking forward to it! The best, and perhaps the only thing I enjoy at this time of year.
Having the usual break in writing before it starts. I canβt seem to finish anything the last few weeks so Iβm hoping it all comes together in February!

Thanks so much for listening and the wonderfully kind comments on my slide blues song βJust another day in Paradise β ! I really appreciate it ! Thankyou .
Thank you for all the comments. 100 days is a primary school thing invented to cause Music, Art and PE teachers indigestion.
Thanks so much! I'm glad the finger pointing came off nicely, but still evident because it's definitely there haha
Oh, and hey thanks for the comment on Undertow! Glad to hear you liked it!
Thank you for your encouraging words regarding "Cyclical Grief." As it turns out, it is non-fiction. Even though the grieving process is never easy, it is necessary.
Thanks for listening to "Voices" and praising me to the roof. BLUSHES...
Here in Vilanova we have lots of magic, but no Spanish Castle. Just a small flat with three walls of one bedroom taken up with hanging instruments... Much to the chagrin of my dear wife, Carmen. π
Thanks for the comment on Poet, everything was done at the match except the vocals, that I did at home. I usually get pretty odd looks at matches, mostly due to me humming Straussian Waltzes while wrestlers are aggressively hugging each other. Thanks again for listening.
Thank you so much for all the kind comments particularly on "Walk Steady!"
Hi Dan thanks for your binge on my songs. I really appreciate it. I am glad you are enjoying them. And I yours.
The instrument on the Soviet Airmen song is an Octave Mandola tuned as an Irish Bouzouki GDAD. It means you can let lots of open notes ring out and do lots of chords (without 3rds - so they are neither major nor minor) using only two fingers.
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Indifferent Rose'.
Hey man, Iβm a fan. Love your style. If you happen to see anything youβd like to collaborate on please let me know.
Thanks for the comments on "Yesterday's Shoes"....
Hi Dan, I see you have been binging on my songs. Thanks so much. Your comments are really appreciated. Living in a country where English is not the dominant language can be a lonely place for a songwriter. FAWM and the Ukulele Underground Forum keep me producing songs for people who can tell whether they are any good or not.
Here's an "abraçada" (big hug) from Catalunya.
Hi Dan. Thanks for giving my "Liar" skirmish entry a spin. Glad you liked it.
Thank you. Just THANK you!
Thanks for listening and commenting on my song "Vagrant Sea", I really appreciate it!!
It would be great if you could sing on my track! If you could send me the isolated vocal track when you're finished that would be great.
Hey, glad to see you guys back again. I'm looking forward to hearing more.
Thank you so much! I have fun just writing whatever comes and not trying to pin myself into one genre. I appreciate your listens and thoughtful comments. It really means a lot! π
Hey, your comments on aeronautics of love knocked my socks off. Thank you. I loved the lyrics and had a lot of fun finding what I thought was suitable instrumentation and arrangement. I appreciate the feedback from such impressive musician/s.
Thanks for the comment on my lyric - I wasn't planning on uploading any lyrics-only songs to FAWM, but rather busy this week and this is a little out of my usual style.
Hello again guys! Thank you so much for the lovely comments on "Chinese New Year"! I realized when I woke up to the flurry of comments about how abruptly the song ended that I accidentally cut off the outro (with time signature change!) when exporting. I have fixed it, along with the bass thing that was bothering me that nobody else noticed π Just thought I'd let you know. I will be back to check out what you've been up to later on!
Thank you so much for listening to "Tidal Wave" - I really appreciate it. π
Hey thanks for the love Karl (and Dan)! Happy to provide π
Thanks for the comments on my songs!
Thanks for your comment! The sound is a tanpura machine. π
Thanks for your comments on my song "The Dress She Wore".
That 4th Verse is indeed the key. But you have to ask yourself what is implied by it.... I'm saying nothing π
Glad you liked the sound of the mandolin. It was just recorded on a ZOOM H2. The instrument itself is actually a cheap semi-acoustic F-Hole Bluegrass style Samick. I got it to be able to plug it in for live gigs with my blues rock band. My good Mandolin (actually a Bandolim - a Portuguese flat back mandolin with a thicker body) is in storage at the moment. Happy FAWMing!
It's funny you mentioned Radiohead, I've been listening to them a lot lately. I guess they're rubbing off on me a bit. You mentioned doing a collab, I think I'd be down for that! Feel free to shoot me an email.
Hi man. Hope you'll have a great fawm and finish something, like you want. Good start. Have fun!
Hey there thanks for the kind words - my cello is however not programmed. I play the cello and record the parts individually and then layer them π. Going to roll over to your new song and have a listen. Happy FAWM!
Ah ok. I will check back
Happy FAWM! π
Wishing you a happy and successful FAWM, fellow 2010 classmate....!!
Thanks so much, I really liked hearing y'alls stuff too!
Can't wait won't wait! Well... we all have to, don't we...
Happy FAWM 2019 π
Always love listening to really great music. Inspiring it is
Hey Dan (and Karl)! I always look forward to some Major Danby tunes. Happy Fawming!
Hi Dan, great to see you back! How is all your recording going? Hope your FAWM 2019 is amazing! Also hope to collab again if you'd like!
Hi Dan!
Hey there!! Looking forward to hearing you this FAWM!
Hi Dan, looking forward to your creations this year
I know what you mean, the thought of setting everything up on a new PC is exhausting! Hope you manage to find a way to minimise the fan-noise, anyway!
So looking forward to hearing what you bring... Always a highlight!
Really good to see you back. Cellos and their minor chords was my 2018 FAWM fave song.
Hi Dan. How's things down on the coast? Enjoy your February.
