FAWM allowed me to release my only album after my debut in 2009. With three exceptions, I've been an avid participant every year since. All my terrible demos (and a few good ones) are available on my site.

I've been looking forward to this, can't wait to hear all your stuff.

Last year FAWM was a highlight, because... COVID anyone? February was a crazy time, quitting a job I hated, getting a job I LOVE, and writing songs with amazing FAWMers like @candle and @deathboy all through it. AND @captainvulpine - jeebus so so so so sorry for the previous snub! Plus, flight to San Francisco (remember those?) where I wrote a joke song on a laptop, plus seeing Wye Oak on the last day of February 2020 in Durham, NC.

Thanks to all you wonderful freaks who make this community what it is. Super stoked to be back.

I've been writing/producing electronic music under the moniker of looprication since 2000.

Update 2/23:

I had a great friend in San Diego who's no longer with us. One time he wrote me an email, the subject was, "Music, man!" and I can just picture him looking at that field in the form and saying, well, what is anything about? What's the subject of anything we *want* to do?

That led to this thought: this site sometimes feels like a month-long music festival, where you don't have to deal with heat exhaustion, being filthy, or assholes talking in your ear while the band's playing... where it's super special because these are "your artists," the ones you know and get to tell your friends about and you just know they're going to love them. And also, you sort of get your own little stage at this virtual festy.

Anyway, just some thoughts no one will ever read. And that's fine 😉

Hello and thank you for your kind comments on Synthesthaesia! I'm glad you have found me now - I've improved since 2007!!!

Usually I thank everybody on the last songs comment. This time I just couldn’t. I was to sad. It’s... my brain starts to work again now. So, thank you for your music. You have the great gift to pull the listener into your world and I liked being on your fairground, even in the sad corner.

  • @sciren  Mar 1

Congrats on your win this year! It was such a breath of fresh air to work on our collabs this FAWM. Really enjoyed it and hope it's not the last time! I can't wait to take a listen to the rest of your tracks. See you next year?

  • @audrey  Mar 1

I read your thoughts in your bio, so they weren't "just some thoughts no one will ever read" and they warmed my heart. I feel the same way about FAWM. It IS like a month long music festival without all the drawbacks of a live one. What a great analogy.

  • @krayzie003  Mar 1

Thanks for the encouragement. Already got it done.

  • @candle  Mar 1

Congrats on 16 Loop! I've got a few of yours I missed listening to that I'm going to catch up on tomorrow. Take care & thank you for all your listens, comments & support!

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Mar 1

Thanks! and yeah that probably is a little piggish 🤣 but there's one I've already done that I'm not going to listen to yet, for one my ears are shot and I want to do it some measure of justice since its not my write or I'd just post it anyway. Tulsa is a nice little city, Wayne is a sweetheart, and there's .......well usually is a pretty great mostly local music scene, and sadly nope, is e-kit cymbals, but cymbals still the one thing that's annoying me on it........well the crash anyway I've gotten happy with ride and hat settings I've found so far. I think once I tinker with down pitch and reverb some more I'll be happy enough with the crash as well. It's a pretty new toy, still figuring it out.

  • @apertome  Feb 27

Unfortunately the Sputnik stuff is discontinued, but sometimes some of it pops up on the used market.

  • @splittybooms  Feb 26

Yeah we gotta try to hook up next FAWM or even if you're around for 50/90. I ran away from all collabs this year, just didn't have it in me.
Thanks for all your great comments, they really boosted my confidence. Of course, I think you are also quite dope.

  • @candle  Feb 26

Wow, yeah, acoustic Swans is an interesting comparison, but thank you! That's awesome. Yeah, I just went with that one. I had images of the temple in my mind as I was playing & just went with it. The story/meditation/whatever-it-is sort of just developed on its own. I was getting to the end & trying to figure out a way to wrap it up & the whole Ascension thing hit me. I feel like this is the song I wanted to write during FAWM 2014 when I was doing my Vibrations concept album. Six years too late LOL. Thank you so much for the listen & the amazing comment!

  • @beat  Feb 24

ˋ]. Thx for taking an earful

  • @shortdan  Feb 20

Ha, I was going to mention Beads if you didn't! Intriguing. I'm tempted to get one on pre-order although I haven't so much as switched my modular on this FAWM (which is fairly shameful). I've got a Morphagene which I tend to use for the texture type stuff.

  • @kissinginpublic  Feb 20

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I spotted there might be another minute and a half (at least) in After All, so it’s one to revisit. I might do some remixes to finish this year off.

  • @nahlej381  Feb 19

If you google the toxic avenger taco scene you can hear all the “lyrics” in citizen toxie. I just love troma movies so I slapped that sample all chopped n screwed lol thanks for listening!

  • @splittybooms  Feb 18

I bestow Windowflower unto you. Receive it, go forth, make, and be free. (seriously, i DO like it now that you've said something lol)
Hmm, I lived in Michigan for 13 years with Detroit a constant in my weekly routine. I'm sitting here trying to decipher your phrase...you must tell me the original, I beg you.
Also, thanks for your comments. They've really made me smile and feel pretty good, honestly.

  • @apertome  Feb 18

btw you said "reminiscent of The Disintegration Loops but better and not derivative or anything" -- really touched by this comment, I mean, I don't think that what I do is on the same level as Basinski, but he's a big influence for me, and such a great artist. Any comparison to him is inherently good!

  • @apertome  Feb 18

I did hear about Beads! Looks great, although I don't know yet whether it has anything that would make me ditch my Clouds v1. exciting though!

  • @nahlej381  Feb 17

Occasionally I do write quasi-safe-for-work songs...guilty as charged. Don’t hold it against me!

  • @virallode Feb 17

Hey, I've reshared the folder, same link should work

  • @electrocelte  Feb 17

Thanks for listening to Epic (Adam added the exclamation points, lol!!!!!) well don't worry I am perfectly capable of doing #NSFW. We may just do that yet...

  • @candle  Feb 17

It's all good loop. I probably do the same with your tracks 😉 Thanks for the comment!

  • @nahlej381  Feb 15

Thanks very much! I love working with DJTJB. He’s a BAMF.I’m lucky he’s my brother in law. Lol And deathboy is so good and versatile. Such a wordsmith. Looking forward to your collab with djtjb!

  • @aesthetic72  Feb 15

thanks for the nice comment re Make My Own Way Home. Rob made it super easy to set down the melody. I usually try to do a lot more counterpoint, but his groove with the chord changes -- there was nothing I could add to that - it was perfect. So yeah, I just do what I normally do - scat over music to get phrasing and melody then I write it based on words that keep appearing as I'm scatting - i've learned that it makes little sense to fight that intuition. Anytime I hear a coop or coop adjacent piece that makes me cry when listen to the instrumental - that means I should should probably try to write something for it. 😀 This was very enjoyable, I have to say. Anyway thanks again!

  • @candle  Feb 15

Yeah, I might have to get my hands on both those albums. What I've heard so far has impressed me.

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @candle  Feb 15

OK, how did I miss this band in the '90's? This is awesome. Thank you so much for pointing me in their direction.

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @candle  Feb 15

Can't say that I have. I'm gonna have to look that up 😁

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @ustaknow Feb 15

Thank you for saying so. I love Anazia's voice. Her voice with some of my somewhat "darker" stuff provdes a unique skew (not that track, others). She just goes for it, which is wonderful.

  • @candle  Feb 14

Have at it, my friend. Last time you borrowed one of my concepts it tunred into one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard (I'm not kidding) - & I'm fortunate that you let me noddle my guitar into that track. So yeah, take the concept & run. I'm sure it'll be fabulous! Thanks for the listen & the comment 😁

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 14

Hah, well that one was all pieced together with three loop pedals, but feasibly I guess could of all been done on one 😁 but yeah all pretty much one shot. I think three is my limit I'm already overwhelmed🤣 but I said that after two as well. The third one I got for all its time warping and reversing and pitch shifting and stereo fun stuff it'll do, the fact it loops as well was just a bonus. I'll be figuring it out for probably a few years to come.

  • @glasscrow Feb 14

Hi! You commented on Not Easy, Just Worth It awhile ago and wondered about the vocals. It was a sample from an app I've been using. I won't be able to release the track as is, but the app was the inspiring source, so I thought I could get away with yoinking it for a small community for a month. To get the effect I just duplicated the track and offset the time a bit, panned each track slightly to either side, and gave them a slightly different EQ. Totally amateurish, I know, haha.

  • @krrisstin  Feb 14

hey looprication, thank you for the kind and awesome comments on my song(s)! i feel so understood 😀

  • @candle  Feb 13

The secret, I think, is the looper. I use the Mobius VST looper. I'm still trying to set it up so that it flows with my playing style (I'm used to using the DigiTech JamMan pedal for my looping), but it still allows me to do so much. Thanks for the listen & the comments. I always appreciate your opinion of my songs. It means a lot to me.

    See You In The Shadows…

p.s. I just noticed I've missed listening to Mauvais Argent. Will rectify that shortly.

  • @djtjb  Feb 10

Steal away my friend lol. Also down to collab on anything anytime. I'll hit you up with my email at your @ (dot) com

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 10

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how that one came about and turned out as well.

  • @candle  Feb 9

I did do voice overs for commercials and promos at my job as Commercial Producer for the local TV station for about five years, so I guess you could call me "Professional". But I don't see myself that way. The trick I always found worked well for me was speaking in a deeper voice than my usual voice. I sort of notched this one up even more by processing it through a pitch shifter (I pitched it down 5 steps, iirc). I'm quite proud of how it turned out.

Thanks for the listen & the comment. If you're interested in more about this sci-fi universe, I could upload some of my drafts to dropbox & share them with you. Let me know.

Dude thank you! I didn't even know fawmtronica was a tag, and I'll definitely be using that. As far as the sampling, I wish I could claim some wizardry or mastery over it, but really it's just a Kaos pad 3. So easy to use, you record the sample in it, then you can just manipulate it in a multitude of ways via the touchscreen. Made my sampling life alot easier lol.

  • @beat  Feb 7

    ... and not a band.
Mind you, I’m more of a Kreisky fan. Bilderbuch. And if I’m in a headbanger mood Killed By 9V Batteries.
But thx for your comment and the insight of your (A) band knowledge.
Are you doing some rack tracks? So or not, I’m listening in on your site anyway. Enjoy being.

  • @nahlej381  Feb 7

Hey thanks for listening! Glad to see you back this year!

  • @theawkwardsleep  Feb 6

Yes! That’s why I asked. I need ideas. 😀 We we’re gonna put me screaming in background at the end. But I was zapped of all energy. Laterrrrr...... -ru

  • @erucaesounds  Feb 5

Thanks for the kind words on 'The Man Who Would Be King'. Ha... yes, for the lyrics, I always find that if you remove some of the explanation, or just simply removing words, can add to the mystery and subtlety.
The acoustic is my new (last summer) sunburst Martin D35.... its my 7th Martin, but this latest one has just a really special tone to it, the best one by far.

ˋ] ja, I can see why it takes its time. And yes I will stick to it for the sounds and possibility's there are is just amazing. Thx for the note.

  • @gslade Feb 3

I lol'd at your feedback. I don't think you have anything to learn from me Sir Modular Synthesis...but I'm glad I could entertain. Thanks for the kind feedback.

  • @candle  Feb 2

Wow, thanks for that comment on Before The Rain, Loop!

Hope you’re back this year. Happy FAWM

  • @psyt Feb 1

Hi Looprication, and thanks for the welcome. It contributed significantly to my choice to participate this year. 😀

  • @apertome  Feb 1

Welll, if things go as planned this year there won't actually be a lot of Hecker style stuff. But who knows! I sometimes gravitate in different directions than what I intend.

  • @apertome  Jan 31

Love your influences list! I need to update mine to ones more relevant for this year. We'll see how things take shape though too.

Excited to see what you record!

  • @deathboy  Jan 31

MATEY! Good to see you! Let's bang heads together some time real soon!

  • @theawkwardsleep  Jan 30

We’re back. And I’m hopeful! This is the first year I don’t have a giant contract for work or school to slow me down. Feeling optimistic!
Looking forward to hear what lovely tunes you come up with friend.

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Jan 19

Yeah I'm pretty excited for this year, even just to listen. Has the feel like its going to be a great one, and yeah big-time fan of candles brand of noise! He's been great helping me make some sense of Buzz, that I still don't use enough, but starting to get comfortable with it.

  • @cts  Jan 19

...and who would I be not to oblige you, my good man? Jelly lives!

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Jan 17

I know what you mean about it being hard to get started, but then even harder to stop. TLDR:

I used to have several old signal generators and oscilloscopes and other things I have no idea the names for, I got from an estate sell(I called it the NASA control center) Could make all sorts of whacky and fun noises, but would never do anything with them, but did give hours of joy.

  • @adforperu  Jan 16

Hey man, good to see you here - it's nearly time!

  • @ianuarius  Jan 16

    Hey happy fawm to you!
