Writing songs since 2017 but first time on FAWM. Any tips would be appreciated! I love singer-songwriters like Dar Williams, Nick Drake and Elliott Smith, but I also love rock, bluegrass, and songs sung by Fred Astaire in those great black and white movies!!

I appreciate your kind words on my tunes! It was lovely hearing your music at the FAWM gathering 😊
Great songs at the FAWMOVER party!
Thanks for listening. Will you be tuning in to the Massachusetts AfterFAWM party this Friday?
Thank you so much for your kind words! You've always been inspiration with the songs you've shared in our uke meetups! I'm always intrigued by what you come up with and as I think I've said fairly often, I can imagine a lot of your songs at that crucial moment in the movie! It's been quite a fun journey doing this FAWM with you, and our gang.
Congratulations on the win! And thanks for dropping in and listening to ‘Perfection’. I appreciate your kind words!
The number one key to speed: practice. My first FAWM I was just happy to hit 14.
I like to say that if it were a video game and we had songwriting stats, I would have put everything in to increasing my speed. My speed would be maxed out, but at the sake of everything else.
My specialty is lyrical improvisation. I discover the lyrics and melody as I sing it for the first time. It means my top-speed for songwriting is real-time. Early on this involved asking my kids what I should sing to them at bedtime, and then making up a new song for them in the moment. At first, the songs were pretty short. It's taken a lot of practice to be where I am now.
For most folks, I recommend practicing your "song skirmish skills". The skirmishes are one-hour songwriting challenges. Once you can comfortably make a song in an hour, suddenly there's _way_ more time in the month than there used to be. 😀
Thanks for your comments on my "Sailing Away" - I also come from three generations of Irish/ Liverpool sailors too So the sea really is in my blood.
Hi Liz. I want to, again thank you for your great comments. You are picking up on a lot of things I’m expressing. Also thank you for liking my instrumental parts. It’s much appreciated.
Thank you for your lovely comments on our songs. They mean a lot to us! And congratulations for winning FAWM!
Congrats on winning FAWM! You've done so well here!
I had some unexpected scheduling issues pop up today, so it looks as if I can’t get to “Frozen Lake” until Sunday. If you decide before then to musicate it yourself, or to collab with someone else, no worries - just let me know. 😊
Keep em guessing, that's my motto 😉 Thanks for the listen to Irrational Numbers!
Thanks for your kind words on 'To Dream Of Wild Horses', much appreciated!
Hi Liz! Thank you for checking out and commenting on "Strange Times".
Thank-you Liz. I so appreciate your comments on my songs. With this being my first FAWM, it is encouraging to know someone is following and appreciating my efforts!
I have a wide diversity of styles in my collection this year-- thanks for the listens and I'll try to get at some more of yours later on. Lunch break is over now!
Welcome to FAWM! I'm glad you liked the Shores song. As a cross country skier, I find the snow takes away some of my writing time.
thank you for the comments in the melody for the esperanto song!
Thanks for listening to my song "My Way Is The Highway" and leaving some nice comments. Really appreciate it.
Thanks for your comments. I was pleased with the results of ‘21 Words’... wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. Again, thanks!
Thanks so much!! Dan
Sorry- I had second thoughts about sharing it publicly, so I pulled it. Thanks for your support and understanding. 😀 Dan
Thanks a lot for listening to "Lullaby For A Cat". Synth used for the strings... the other instruments are live. 😀
Thanks for the comment on my week 2 challenge song!
Not exactly three finger style (which would be more of a bluegrass style)- this is more a Pete Seeger style, bum-diddy pattern. Thanks for the comment! -Dan
Thank you so much my friend! Much appreciated! Warm regards, Dan
So do I! I have my uke strung with a low G too, we must both have good taste 😀 I haven’t done a uke song yet this fawm so it’s must be time!
Hi and thank you for stopping by my page and thoughtfully listening and commenting. It means a lot!
Thanks so much Liz! Really appreciate it. -Dan
Wow, Liz, way to make up for lost time!! Your songs are amazing so far! 😀
Thank you for the kind words on my song. <3
Glad to see you here!
