Artist Bio

Influences:   Too many to list! I love blues, old country, Americana, rock 'n roll, punk rock, heavy metal, bluegrass, and jazz!

I'm a newbie singer-songwriter in my late 40s. I've been a musician most of my life, but took up guitar in my late 30s, both electric and acoustic. I am very slow at adding the chord progressions to songs and crafting them on guitar. So, my posts here won't probably include a demo with music until I get faster at it. So, lucky you, you just get my lyrics.

Acoustic guitar isn't my favorite and it's taken me a while to just become a crappy acoustic player, haha! Electric guitar is my first love and where I began, but I've lost some of my skills on there, neglecting to get better at acoustic. I'm working on finding my way back to electric guitar.

I also spent 3-4 years working on my vocal skills. I tried for a while to not be soprano, haha! I couldn't untrain my girlie voice, despite lessons and practice. Oh well. I have learned to not hate my voice though. I had some baggage there to deal with and heal. I have learned how to sing in my middle range, so I don't sound like I'm in choir, hahaha!

I see music as my passion and hobby, but I just plan on being a solo artist, not putting pressure on my art to earn an income. I do want to record my original songs. I've been slowly performing and sharing them since 2019. It feels quite vulnerable, but I enjoy it a great deal. I just want to continue doing open mics and maybe sell physical CD's I make in the future out of my backpack or well, digital download cards.

I find songwriting to be one of my biggest joys. I began writing poems after my mom passed in 2015 after a long hiatus. I began sharing them at open mics for poetry. Then, I began writing song lyrics again too. I did this in my teens. I wish I had saved my lyric notebooks, but often, I wrote and threw things out, which is very healing too. I began to attend open jams/mics in 2018 and finding my way again after a hiatus from that to process grief after my mom died.

I have a diverse taste when it comes to musical genres. For some reason though, I have some angst about 19990s music, haha! I was in my 20s then and I think I thought my life would be different. Don't we all think that though? While I'm cooking or cleaning, I'm all 1980s hair band music. I especially love The Rolling Stones. They are my favorite band. I grew up as a punk rocker, Goth, skaterchick, and new wave person. Since 2015, I'm all into Americana music and love Elizabeth Cook's show, Apron Strings on Outlaw Country on SiriusXM.

That's so cool about the Minfulness class. I have one in my "folder" to take. I'm working on an Aromatherpy class right now. Where did you take your class, if you don't mind me asking? Can't wait to see what you do for your #oraclechallenge song! 😀

Since this is my first time, I think that I will be just sharing lyrics. I'm pretty slow at crafting songs with guitar, haha! I also don't really enjoy recording (yet). Does anyone like the sound of their own voice? Hmm. I've struggled with that for a while.
