2018: Laree's got an E-Kit. Gonna be much quicker to lay down "full band" type tracks. Should be fun. I mean, not that I can play drums, but just saying. Wanna colab? Throw me some lyrics. I'll mess em up for ya.

2017: Standard tuning is being a pain. Going back to a half step down 435hz

2017: Gonna do everything in standard tuning. My whole life I've done a half step. Time to push myself.

To be honest with you, I had no clue I was going to be a musician. For the first half of my life, my face was buried in a sketchbook. I wanted to be a comic book artist. Somewhere down the line, I got interested in writing lyrics. Maybe it was due to the fact that as I got old, life got a little bit more complicated, and I needed a different outlet to express myself. The Nirvana thing was blowing up at the time, and it truly inspired me. I wanted to play guitar, write music, so that’s what I did. Instead of drawings, I started to fill my sketchbooks with lyrics. In 99’ I bought my first guitar. In 2006 I played my first show.

PS, given your profile pic, you really, really want to see the Panther movie with a South African audience. Just saying.

  • @mdavisto  Mar 2

See, the thing is, I agree that the Firefly theme is kind of a crap song, but, that's if you separate it from what it's come to mean. So like, the first time I heard it, I was like, uhhhhhhhhh wut? But then, later, once I was invested, it became the sweetest song around.

    Context is everything.

Totally prefer the movie theme. But, it doesn't carry the emotional weight that the shitty TV theme does. Does that seem right to you?

Thanks for showing up again. Imma listen to the shit I missed in the coming days, don't take it down too quick, k?

    Love your work, man.

  • @wacha  Mar 1

Thanks, congrats on your win! I'm looking forward to getting the time to listen to your stuff. What I have listened to so far is killer.

  • @cloudboy  Mar 1

Got it in at the last minute! Congrats on 15!

  • @cloudboy  Mar 1

In by the hair of your chinny chin chin. 😉

  • @mdavisto  Mar 1

All good man, I was just robbed of the bragging rights of having @lhcisco on one of my jams. The end product sounded pretty sweet though. I think I might take a page from your book and do a choir song every year, make it a Thing.

  • @mrcorbs79 Feb 27

I cracked up at overproduced anthem. Nice variety as always on these last few tracks man. One of the prettiest death songs I've ever heard to boot. I await your final entry!

  • @mrcorbs79 Feb 27

We are our own samples. But I also totally feel that idea. May be onto something, sir!

"You know one of my best life moments ever when [Neko Case] said I made her well up covering one of her songs on Twitter."

    *fangirls too hard*

    *tries to revive herself*

yeah, dude, that's pretty much the highest praise I could imagine!

  • @barbara  Feb 2018

Thanks for the sweet comment on "I'm Beat". I had garageband do my guitar-playing on that one, though, lol! I can finger-pick, but in the heat of composing for the skirmish, I wanted to play around in a chord selector without worrying whether I knew how to play the chord, such as the Bmin11 that's tucked in there! It's actually a little too robotic for my taste, but you takes your lumps, eh?

  • @bking  Feb 2018

Stopped by for Is America Truly Great Again and liked what I heard. I saw the blurb in your bio about tuning down a half step, and totally agree. If I feel the need for standard tuning, capo on the first fret. Problem solved.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 2018

Thanks for the kind words on moving on. SOrry but there are no background to these lyrics since I dont write about me rather from me 😀

  • @kenjku  Feb 2018

Nice, it sounds multitracked to me! Sounds nicely mixed and has good separation that’s why I ask. It’s difficult to track separately sometimes. Almost unnatural haha

  • @cloudboy  Feb 2018

    Ray, Ray.

  • @kenjku  Feb 2018

Dooood thanks so much. I’m glad you’re digging it. That means a lot coming from you with the mad production skills! Especially in guitar tones and stuff. I’ll be revisiting your stuff tonight. Been so bad with commenting since I’m hard at work haha. Do work son.

  • @mrcorbs79 Feb 2018

Yo...slow down, how can I make music and listen to your 30 albums a second simultaneously? 😁 Thanks for checking out the punk tune, man. I hope the singing comes by the song, because I do have the drive and the undying thirst to learn and grow. I'm so happy I'm here this year. I see 8-bit in a description...sawweeeeet!

Just finished another, time to mix. Then tonight, I dive in and listen to all of your newness, as I've been too distracted creating to take pause and admire!

  • @mrcorbs79 Feb 2018

Yo! One of the tunes on Nintendon used two Mega Man II samples...hope you get to utilize them! And don't worry, I'm pretty positive something is coming in that regard from me. Can't wait to hear your latest when it's not way past bedtime and coffee hits my body again.

  • @moonraccoon  Feb 2018

Thank you for the kind words regarding Wanted. At your prompting, I listened to my first Guided by Voices song this evening. I can totally hear a stylistic similarity.
