And thanks for listening to my surf song! I was hoping to do another, but genre-hopping, you know! 😉

  • @zecoop  7 weeks

Well, I can't let my brother completely outshine me, so I had better get in here and check out some music! I can't believe I totally missed yours during FAWM, but even with a ton of comments, my watchlist only saw a fraction of what it should. Apologies from the west side!!

I heartily second Goldwave like Rob said - I use that noise filter trick a ton, where you copy a part of the file with just the noise, copy it and use it as the filter. I have used Goldwave for decades and love it for finishing off my WAV files. 😀

  • @guatecoop  7 weeks

I forgot to add that you don’t make any additional guitar sound on that lead in so that you can highlight and copy a small portion of that floor noise. Then you go into the filter and then noise reduction.

  • @guatecoop  7 weeks

Well, there is a way around that in a pinch....just record the whole track with some lead to have just the hiss and then use goldwave to do a clipboard noise print (I think) filter->noise reduction and it does a pretty good job on getting rid of that without any noticeable sound loss. I use that for occasional amps but definitely on my old keyboards.

  • @guatecoop  7 weeks

I do have a really good guy for that. He used to work for Mesa. He works on everything from my guitars to preamps. If my brother comes down or I come up to see him, we can grab it.

  • @berni1954  7 weeks

Glad you liked my love song for my wife (Beginning and End).

  • @guatecoop  7 weeks

    I’m glad that you came!

  • @guatecoop  7 weeks

    Just don’t get in trouble!!

  • @guatecoop  7 weeks

Thanks @jeustan ! Wow, I missed a bunch. Will be back. You should join the zoom! It’s really nice to talk with like minded people.

  • @crisp1  7 weeks

Yeah, I had some awesome collabs with this guy from Michigan...

  • @gm7  7 weeks

Thx for the kind word on Story Mill Road and Forever Dance much appreciated . They were fun to do.

  • @wrenarcher  Mar 6

Hey Jeus! Sorry we didn't get to do that funk song by Dingus Inc. 😞
I even started some lyrics but didn't get through a few lines. Oh well, maybe next year.

Take care! Till next year right? 😀

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

er, expect it now I guess LOL

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

Expect a lyric in your inbox by 2pm CST today then!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 28

I don't know how quickly you work but I can for sure get you a lyric this afternoon if you're still potentially interested?

  • @jeff9  Feb 24

Thanks so very much, Justin, for your kind words on”Camp Meeting”.

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 23

I've felt that way since the end of fawm last year. Some keep popping up improvised every now and again though 🤣 For the few of us who still listen to full albums though those little instrumental snippets always make great interludes between more fully fleshed out "songs"

  • @cts  Feb 22

Jeus - I can't tell you how much I appreciate your being in FAWMland and for supporting me. You're at the halfway point, my friend. Keep the party moving and hopefully if not this FAWM, please know I plan to be around for 50/90. Hope to see you there.

  • @wrenarcher  Feb 22

Hey Jeus! Thanks for the kind words about my jazz effort on “The Melting Snow.” I really appreciate the encouragement about my lead guitar attempt. Thanks a lot... really. That brought a smile to my face.

Ironic thing about that song is I lost power for two days and worried about our pipes freezing/bursting because of the big Texas deep freeze that terrorized us.

Annnnd... I feel obligated to say the brush work and kick on the jazz kit were not my doing. At least it wasn’t entirely. I found an app that helped me out with that. But because I apparently was meandering a little with the time on my guitar work I had to start and stop the drum app. I can also manually trigger a fill as it’s playing live with my recorded track. That’s how the fills and other things going on with the drums were so well placed.

Thanks again for the kind words and encouragement.

  • @jeff9  Feb 20

Much obliged, Justin. You are most kind with your comment on my crudely recorded stab at putting @crisp1 's nice lyric into a country setting.

  • @kenmattsson  Feb 20

Thanks for liking my take on @crisp1's Pardon My Love. I'm getting a reputation of doing everything different than others on here!

  • @crisp1  Feb 19

The two versions of Pardon My Love are pretty different from each other. You should give a listen. 😀

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 19

That spitfire pack is one I liked I've played with a bit so far, Steven Slate Drums is also a pretty nice one that's fully customizable and able to upload your own samples to as well. I just don't like being tied to a computer

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 19

I don't get it either. I'm sure there's some big long explanation about dynamics and Hz's or whatever, but it eludes me as well. I'll eventually get a real hi-hat/cymbal pack and snare and just use the rest of these pads for extras. It has an actual pedal and kick pad I've been pleasantly surprised with and the snare isn't bad its just small and too easy to accidentally rimshot unless I set them both to the same patch. I haven't played but a few e-kits either and it was a while back, they feel/sound a whole lot better than they used to.

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 19

I wish I had a timpani I'd never play anything else 🤣 I did get a relatively inexpensive e-kit this winter I'm still trying to fine tune without having to resort going full MIDI with. Cymbals(crashes in particular) have been the only thing I've been unimpressed with so far, well that and me having to dust off my drumming chops only one bloody nose so far 🤣

  • @dulcimeric Feb 18

thanks for the comment! yep, I've been messing around with the green line6 delay pedal a lot recently. eventually I think I'll run vocals through it and using something a little more specific for looping instruments, but hey it's just fine for what I need now!

  • @ayehahmur  Feb 13

Hey, thanks again for your continued support on my songs. I appreciate the comments about the singing because it's the thing I'm least confident about.
Re the bass tone on A&B, well I don't play guitar at all, but it's one of the bass guitar samples I have - a damped Hagstrom H8. I really loved that crisp woody tone. It's probably impossible to play on an actual guitar, but hey...

  • @silvermachine Feb 11

Hi there, I left a message on the Silvermachine Challenge recently, don't know if you've seen it? It may interest you, and surprise you if you follow the link!

  • @cts  Feb 9

Just so you know...I haven't forgotten us.

  • @nateger Feb 8

I appreciate the kind words, Justin! You're amazing too 🤘

  • @freshbeast Feb 8

That St. Louis Shakedown was marvelous. Thanks for making something great.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 8

Lemme know if you need lyrics.

  • @nahlej381  Feb 7

Thanks for listening and saying things I like hearing lol look forward to hearing some more of your stuff!

  • @w1n  Feb 5

Relatives in Descent and Ultimate Success Today where both on my top 5 list of best albums the years they came out, glad I got to see them live in 2018

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 5

Sounds good! and I can just do some spice 😁

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 5

always down for dueling noodles! even if nothing works out for the Fred tune! but yeah that's a great tune with room, but no way I can or even want to match that super nice crisp tone, I love it, just not for me...... but yeah would love to work on something. I've got 2 or 3 things in the works now, but should be done by next week.

Oh! you finally posted one too! slacker! hahah I kid! I'll be back for sure.

  • @rayboneor  Feb 4

Hmmm...there's a conspicuous absence of tunage here. No pressure, though 😀

  • @nateger Feb 4

I appreciate your kind and thoughtful words! I see you're also a person with a taste for puns. You have exquisite taste. Your ANALysis was worthy of a doctoral dissertation 🙏💩

  • @sirius Feb 2

  • @billwhite51 Feb 1

i eagerly await the first f your 2021 songs.

  • @klaus Jan 31

Hi Justin. Hah, thanks for using the word "bonza". Hope you have a great Fawm 2021.

  • @wrenarcher  Jan 28

    Dingus, Inc LIVES???

Ok, so I've never done a collab. Would love to try and thanks for asking Jeus. How cool is this! This will be fun and I hear you never forget your first. 😁

ok, all kidding aside... I'm a little nervous. Hopefully I don't come across like Steve Martin snapping arythmically to funky blues beat.

  • @wrenarcher  Jan 27

Hi Jeu. Or is it Stan? Or Jeustan?
    how about just... hi!

Thanks for the welcome. I really appreciate it.
By the way... there's a thread titled "write a song as another band" and two of yours are in the running for me. Dingus Inc (which is really cool and funny at the same time) makes me think it would be a funk band. I cannot play funk so it may be off the table just for that.

The other is Tryptophan Gang. obviously shoegazey, trip hop. I'm leaning toward this one.

Thanks again for the welcome. 😀

  • @rayboneor  Jan 24

I forgot about that one--but, then, I forget most of them. Thanks for listening. I enjoyed a spin down memory lane with your Sister Wendy tune, and the one about staring into the void. Top-notch stuff

  • @robynmackenzie  Jan 23

Happy FAWMing!!! Looking forward to hearing your stuff again 😁

Hey there, sorry about your brain, and I thank you for the message.
I don't remember much about the summer but I do remember you and your talents. Hope to hear more of them.

  • @rayboneor  Jan 20

Hey, I'm a big Jüs fan (or whatever you call yourself), so I'm honored you dropped by my soundboard. I will be bringing my usual know-nothing approach. Should be fun!

  • @steffan  Jan 11

Hey! Thanks! That's a glamour shot for sure. The reality is far more cramped and ramshackle, but I do try to at least keep it comfy!

  • @elainedimasi  Jan 11
