Artist Bio

Influences:   Procrastination

I dunno...I play 500 instruments, write books, occasionally produce mildly amusing ukulele songs about Star Wars, and have been posting an improv a day on YouTube for, like, 549 days. So I'm all, "Okay, my February improvs are all going to come together to tell a story. Like a novel. They will be...an improvel." I may be very tired right now.

My pronouns are she/her.

Well coming from the Queen Bee of improvisation I'm very flattered you enjoyed Burning the Wind. Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated. Hope you had a wonderful FAWM!

  • @cts  Feb 24

Congratulations on getting to 14 and beyond! Way to go!

  • @pvk2020  Feb 20

You are so very entertaining. I didn't even know there were 500 instruments lol. I also play several. Do you have a charango? Your fingerstyle would reflect nicely. I have an Oscar Schmidt hammer dulcimer that I have incorporated in compositions. ❤

  • @andygetch  Feb 18

    Haha, no worries and YW.

  • @andygetch  Feb 17

Hi, a slight belated welcome and wow playing so many instruments as improvisations. While I play around with maybe a dozen I doubt I could even name 500. Two weeks in and congratulations on crossing the finish line and your song a day project!

    Hi Kari ,
Thanks so much for listening and the kind comments on my ambient piano instrumental . I really appreciate it . Thankyou 😀

  • @artistunknown Feb 12

    Thanks for the comment!

I definitely plan on making more chaotic songs 😉

Over 500 days of improvised music is super impressive. I've tried my hand at a daily challenge. They're really hard.

I'm looking forward to next FAWM when you mention the albums you've released in the "Shameless Self-Promotion" section.

If you don't release an album... I'll again remind you that Audacity will happily open a video file... 😉

  • @yam655  Feb 9

Lots of people have home recording setups. Call it "lo-fi" and you should be covered. Let people know that if there's sufficient demand, you might do a Kickstarter for a higher quality release. (Also improvised, making both albums distinct!)

If you don't think it is worth anything, make it pay-if-you-want so people can still give you money when they disagree. (Even I have had a paying sale. And on an album that started as a YouTube video!)

To convert the files to WAV or FLAC files (to upload to Bandcamp), you'll need a computer, but pretty much any platform will work. (Linux, macOS and Windows will work with Audacity.)

As the person who posted the videos, you can also download the videos. So, you'll need them downloaded.

You will also need Audacity (it's free) -- https://www.audacityteam.org/ -- It can open both audio and video files. You can even clean up any particularly egregious issues, and then "export" it as a WAV or FLAC.

Bandcamp is totally free, so the only thing it costs you is the time to do this.

  • @yam655  Feb 9

Oh! I just realized I didn't see something. If this album is to be like a novel, it should be published. Are you going to put it on Bandcamp?

  • @yam655  Feb 9

Do you only ever improv with instruments? Have you ever tried your hand at lyrical improvisation? (It's my specialty.)

  • @kendrakinsey  Feb 8

    Your setup is so happy-making!

  • @wingandwaltz  Feb 8

Thanks @improvyssey, I am considering replacing out big ol’ upright with an electric. Half-heartedly keeping an eye out and tryng to learn a little about them. Oddly, I am a piano technician, so I probably should keep the possible change on the down low 😆 The Roland aounds good!

  • @ustaknow Feb 7
