Quick read: I Quit my job, now working on my first album.

Two years ago while working a full-time job, I felt that my life is going nowhere. so I quit it and left home to travel for three months. Then I realized I can't live without music and since then I'm working on my first album. I try to enjoy the journey as much as I can, the road is full of emotions, mountains and roller coasters.
There's nothing better than Fawm to get my energy levels up to continue working on my album after February.
This year (2019) I'll try to write a couple of songs that I lack for my album's wholesome atmosphere. Hopefully if they are good enough, they will be in it.

This year I got myself my first Bass and Electric guitars, and I'm gonna use them in this fawm, that's exciting!

Fawm 2019 Goals:
1. Finish 14 songs.
2. Producing as much as I can.
3. Using my new instruments. (bass & electric).
4. Less skirmishes, more effort.

Fawm 2016 - 15 songs. (2 collabs, 3 skrms).
Fawm 2017 - 14 songs (2 collabs, few skrms).
Fawm 2018 - 14 songs (2 collabs, 8 skrms, 1 Instr).
Fawm 2019 - 14 songs (0 collabs, 3 skrms, 1 riff).

2016 was my first fawm and I've learned that when you got the passion and the drive with a target, the sky is the limit. It changed my life.

Hi. Thank you so much for your kind comments on my effort I Tried to Teach my Dog Spanish. See you next Feb., Or maybe at 50/90!

  • @ajna1960 Mar 9

Hi - just wanted to let you know that there is now a demo for 'A Woman Free' https://fawm.org/songs/98518/

  • @jwhanberry  Mar 3

  • @sunnymae  Mar 3

    Congratulations on your 14 RockstarMan!!

  • @loveonamixtape  Mar 1

Thank you so much for your nice comments on my songs! Especially that Linda Ronstadt comparison -- gosh, that's high praise indeed as I LOVE her, and especially coming from someone with pipes like yours! Congrats on finishing! I look forward to listening to more of your tunes now that I'm finished myself.

  • @elliottlawrence Mar 1

I know, so close! Almost done with the last song.

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 1

Well done mate. Youve put together a great group of songs this year. Awesome effort.

  • @oneslowtyper  Mar 1

Hello again Haim, your guess at my name was indeed very close to Chris or Jack... it is John.
I want to thank you for your compliments on "Just One Regret". That was about the nicest comment I can ever remember receiving. I agree with everything you said about the music. As soon as I heard it, I knew I wanted to write lyrics to the music.
I'm sure you are feeling relieved, now that the final push is over and you can enjoy a much slower pace. I will also be taking time to "catch up" on my listening and commenting.

  • @mkd  Feb 28

You finished! Yay! Me too, just! Hurrah for us!

  • @lain Feb 28

You finished! How good!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Congratulation ๐Ÿ˜€
I unfortunately got lost.. in work, myself and everything around. Mostly work pulled me from keeping going... Have a few more songs written, I think there are three more on my phone but I havent uploaded it, I had no time, no power to do more.. Will it be closed tomorrow? I need to listen to your songs! I am happy you made it ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @thewaitingplace Feb 28

FAWM has been a great experience! I'm really glad I participated. I could definitely see myself doing it again. And congrats to you as well for completing your 14 songs!

  • @loveonamixtape  Feb 28

Haha, thank you! And no, not a flight attendant, just a Very Important Academic Librarian with conferences to go to and family on the opposite side of the country from where I live. ๐Ÿ˜€ Congrats on finishing! I look forward to listening once I push myself over this final hurdle!

  • @joshlevitre  Feb 28

I know. It's been a crazy year with a new job. I'm trying to get one out tonight, but we'll see

  • @judypie  Feb 28

You won! Canโ€™t wait to listen ๐Ÿ˜

  • @boyatheart  Feb 28

    Yes you did it!
So glad you hit your 14 and with a really good song to top it off too. Best of luck with your album project. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @trilby Feb 28

Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the tune!

  • @judypie  Feb 28

Yaaayyy! You skillinโ€™! Woooop! Freeeee fallin! Love that song <3

  • @ustaknow Feb 28

Hey, I am glad you "got" the song "RLL" and brave enough to comment, too!

I figured the picture may drive folks away, but the lyrics are so "graphic" (so to speak) or would make no sense w/o it, - figured, oh well; can't do "fluff" concerning it.

    Anyway, see around! ๐Ÿ˜

  • @mkd  Feb 28

Oh how cool - go us! One more to go! I have a collab in the offing so if they manage to get it done (itโ€™s in their hands now) that would nicely tip me to 14, so feeling the pressureโ€™s slightly off now. I wrote 4 songs yesterday to get back on track!! So teaching wise, itโ€™s instrument teaching, mostly one-to-one, on various stringed instruments. I teach all ages, so Iโ€™m in a primary school, a secondary school and I teach adults privately too. Itโ€™s a wonderful way to make a living! I also perform when wanted, (including the obligatory weddings) and I work as a musician in healthcare, which is where this yearโ€™s focus has come from! How about you? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • @mkd  Feb 28

Iโ€™m lucky to work as a pro musician, but I rarely write anything between FAWMs, so busy playing and teaching etc!

  • @judypie  Feb 28

Thank you Haim! Fawm is the greatest playground isn't it? I just love it so much, even though it comes with its lows too. Are you going for 14 or sticking at 12? That finish line is coming up FAST! Either way, amazing job you did, I still got some of yours to enjoy ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @mkd  Feb 28

Aw, thank you for your comment on Alfieโ€™s song. So much of this yearโ€™s music has been putting myself in someone elseโ€™s shoes, so itโ€™s really nice to do one as Mum for once.

  • @skylermf  Feb 28

Thanks so much! Itโ€™s been hectic, but I think I got a lot out of FAWM this year. How about you? Iโ€™m sure you can finish those last 2 today. Youโ€™ve got this!

  • @leomozi  Feb 27

Thanks for the recognition in the "something you learned" discussion in the forum. I'm really happy to hear that I helped you get the words and music flowing. I get what you're saying about how writing about negative feelings sometimes makes them stronger, though. I finished a very self-critical song that I'd been writing for years last month, and I feel like it was good to bring it to completion, but I don't know that I'll keep it in my repertoire because it just kind of picks at scabs.

Also, thank you for your encouragement and for recommending "It's Never Too Late to Begin Again." I will have to check that out.

  • @angelinapowersuit Feb 27

Thank you SO much for all of your thoughtful comments!!! Re: "Home" - as they say, home is where the heart is, right? Though I think I would change that to, home is where the mind is. Cuz it won't always be filled with the things and people we love. For example - fridge recently broke and every surface of my house is covered with some sort of food item.
Trying not let this make me go insane, haha. OK, today I will take a breather and listen to stuff!

  • @mkd  Feb 27

Argh - how have I not listened to you all month! I am going to do some serious catching up soon, your song has just made my day!

  • @mkd  Feb 27

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my song "Creaking Gate" - I know it's tricky to get listening done with the deadline of the end of Feb looming, so it's doubly appreciated! I'm glad it made it you feel happy, that's perfect!

  • @crisp1  Feb 27

  • @phoenixash Feb 27

Thanks again for all your kind comments dear!

  • @thewaitingplace Feb 26

Thanks for listening, I really appreciate the comment!

  • @tiller2  Feb 25

Hey friend, thanks for the congrats though several collaborations have inflated my total (via double-counting). I'm hoping for three more songs, to feel like I really earned the trophy. Even so, I'm happy with the quality of my work this year--and the variety, including the collabs. Good luck in the final stretch, I will circle back and do some more listening soon!

  • @leomozi  Feb 22

Good on you for quitting your job to pursue music full time. I really regret not taking that risk when I was younger.

  • @leomozi  Feb 22

Thanks for taking the time to listen to "Another Home" and give detailed comments and suggestions! I like the idea of trying pads for more depth; I tried a few virtual bass guitar sounds and wasn't satisfied with them (someday I'll have an actual bass guitar).

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 22

  • @larryw Feb 22

Thanks for the comment on We're all mirrors, I think I was really investigating that we are not all we seem, and hidden away is something, but it takes knowing someone to bring that out hence the chorus! The first two lines were changed from a poem I wrote a couple of years ago! They just seemed to be the right words!

  • @repsurepa Feb 21

Thank you so much for your comments! I'm glad my song made an impact. : )

  • @judypie  Feb 21

Haha no of course Iโ€™m not mad at you. I am little sad we didnโ€™t get time to collab this Fawm though! Sorry youโ€™re not well dude.

  • @judypie  Feb 21

Ahem, you know exactly how your world and mine sounded before I sent it to evin cos I sent it to you ages ago and you passed ๐Ÿ˜ Thank you for your listens and comments though buddy ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @mikeb Feb 21

Thanks for the comment on the 'First Class' lyrics. I think everyone knows someone like that!

  • @mikeb Feb 18

Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Catcher' - it was fun to do a song with this classic chord progression!

  • @lain Feb 18

Thanks for your comment on my rap ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

  • @keithcuts Feb 18

Got your message. Ok cool. ๐Ÿ‘

  • @keithcuts Feb 18

Hi @haim thanks for the feedback. In regards to your question yes my style these says is mostly rapped verses and sung hooks. This song is a good example https://fawm.org/songs/93453/ If you are up for trying something together Iโ€™m game. Iโ€™ll be writing this afternoon. Maybe I could send you the demo and you could sing a hook? Iโ€™m a huge fan of your singing style.

  • @oddbod  Feb 2019

You're in as judge in the Badass Riff Tournament

  • @sunnymae  Feb 2019

    Hi Haim
Thanks so much for your comments on "I can love you today."
We get lucky sometimes when inspiration strikes and it comes down like lightning right?
Going back into the studio right now and try againโ™กโ™ก

  • @tjeff  Feb 2019

    Hi, thanks for the comment!

  • @lain Feb 2019

Thank you Haim for your feedback on "Glassbox" - you always find so nice words to give feedback, I really appreciate <3 ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks! You know what? I just finished my first kind-of-Rap ๐Ÿ˜

  • @lain Feb 2019

Really nice that you posted the rap instead of focusing on the other song... I know the frustration... I just "finished" the chromatic tune song, but not satisfied.. but anyway I uploaded.. I am still an impatient recording person, I can`t wait to just have the song "behind me"... That is definitely sth I could work on... to work on a song a bit more before call it a day... I very quickly lose interest/motivation... and then just leave it like it is even when not satisfied as I think my subconcious keeps telling me that it won`t get any better so better leave it behind you... (or something... if you know what I mean?) .- so maybe next time, better rap instead of uploading an unfinished song ๐Ÿ˜€ What I find funny, you said the drumset was playing on the computer, just yesterday I let a drumset be played by the computer for the first time to play guitar to it - but in the end it frustrated me that much as I could not really get anything out of it that I completely stopped... but I did not

  • @larryw Feb 2019

Thanks, the title was something I read in a book, the thing just seemed to write itself!!

  • @larryw Feb 2019

Hi, just for you my friend I've recorded one of my songs where i'm singing! Enjoy my bad voice ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @downfallroad  Feb 2019

To succeed in any project: reduce scope. For instance, are you trying to perfectly record 12 songs for an album? Finish 10 and save the last 2 for next time. Once I made those hard decisions and stopped expending so much energy on the song or two that just refused to work out, the rest of the album finished up quickly. Good luck!

  • @larryw Feb 2019

Hi thanks for the comment! As to me singing, I doubt it! I try to never sing, I honestly don't have the voice for it. Never say never though!!

  • @lain Feb 2019

Thank you for your comment on " A Story" - I havent realized that I seldom sing with soft vocals haha ๐Ÿ˜‰ But you never see yourself with the eyes of others (or hear yourself with the ears) so I thank you for your words and feedback and I am happy that you like that song... and as a reminder from my side - You were the one pulling me in for FAWM - ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ Yeah!

  • @downfallroad  Feb 2019

    \m/ Thanks dude.
That is awesome you quit your job to record your first album. That's exactly what I had to do to get my first album out the door. For the second album, ten years later, I had to build a recording room in my basement to hide from my kids ๐Ÿ˜ Get that album done now!

  • @spinhead Feb 2019

Thanks for the comment on "Try." It almost wrote itself, but I enjoyed singing it.

  • @websheldon  Feb 2019

Hey man! Thanks so much for the comment and compliments. Yeah "While The Bones Hold" was all written and recorded in February. There's not that much happening in the song really when you break it down - maybe it's the percussion that makes it sound deceptively complex haha It's funny as I nearly didn't bother finishing it - so I'm very glad I did now ๐Ÿ˜ Looking forward to listening to your tracks this year - I will be catching up on friend's music this week!

  • @haim  Feb 2019

OOPS.. commented here by miss take.

  • @elliottlawrence Feb 2019

Really appreciate all the nice comments. I think FAWM is going well so far, happy to be back writing music but it's definitely starting to feel like a lot of work lol. Also, I don't use autotune, but I'll take that as a huge compliment! ๐Ÿ˜ Good luck to you with the rest of your songs btw, I know you always manage to hit 14 so I'm looking forward to hearing them!

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 2019

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 2019

Thanks for listening and commenting on my song "You Are Fragile", I really appreciate it!!

  • @stevenwesleyguiles  Feb 2019

I look forward to our Riff Off, fine sir! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @phoenixash Feb 2019

First of all, thanks so so very much for your comment on my song, I was blushing and smiling silly for an hour after reading it. It was meant to cause the exact feeling you described, so yay! Thanks again!

  • @petemurphy  Feb 2019

Hello, Haim! You're very welcome. It's a really good, memorable song (I found myself singing the chorus when I woke up this morning). No thanks necessary, I just enjoy hearing good songs. Wishing you a great weekend, and more excellent songwriting ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @mattblick  Feb 2019

    Happy FAWMing Haim!

  • @sbs2018 Feb 2019

Hey, thanks so much for your cool comments on โ€œTequila Take Me Home.โ€

  • @lain Feb 2019

One more thing about "In your shoes" - with your double agent boyfriend you were not that far away ๐Ÿ˜‰ it is about a prostitute actually...

  • @lain Feb 2019

Hey there - thanks for your words to "In your shoes" - I think the chorus was a mix of music plus lyrics, then there was the chords and the verse came in the end, as I already was playing on the piano... or something ๐Ÿ˜ "30 seconds" for example completely was a first-lyric song.. That`s something what happens not often with me. Normally I have a line in my head, straight go to the piano or guitar and start finding chords and sing at the same time.. How do you do it mostly?

  • @lain Feb 2019

Thank you for your comment and your words about the song and my voice - I uploaded the other songs as well, I thought of completely reuploading everything as actually nobody will see the uploads as the have already been uploaded.. but anyway.. hopefully someone will listen to it ๐Ÿ˜€ I will listen to your second song now! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @colgoo  Feb 2019

Thanks for your comment on Sacred, Not Secret, Underwear. There are a lot of churches in the U.S. that have legal battles in the courts for covering over sex abuse.

  • @mikeb Feb 2019

Thanks for the comments on my songs, appreciated!

  • @lain Feb 2019

Actually I have no idea how to record at the moment.. as I always kept recording videos and I don`t have the garageband option anymore and no software right now.... the mobile is an old one as my new one died... can I do "memos" and then put them on soundcloud? The only software I have is audacity but I need mic and interface and .... I realize that I am not ready for recording at all ๐Ÿ˜ haha

  • @larryw Feb 2019

Hey @haim thank for the comments, glad you like my work

  • @lain Feb 2019

Thanks for your explanation about the watchlisting ๐Ÿ˜€ ;*

  • @mikeb Feb 2019

Hard to advise re Neil Young songs, there are so many, and a lot of different sounds/styles.

  • @guatecoop  Feb 2019

Hey there, people often call me โ€œCoopโ€ and I worked in Guatemala for about a year and set up an email account to correspond with friends and family. That email was guatecoop @ and I have kept the email since and use the name.

  • @mishykatz  Feb 2019

Thank you for the thoughtful comment! It made me smile!

  • @judypie  Feb 2019

You have a nice cup of tea and listen to some music. You have earned it. Check out @enigma4711 - the lonely sparrow. I just listened and loved it!

  • @judypie  Feb 2019

Pretty good! I have sent off my third for collab magic and just finished writing my fourth ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I will record it tomorrow, gonna kick back with Black Panther now before bed ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @judypie  Feb 2019

It came out VERY cool. Rock on brother

  • @tan482  Feb 2019

Thanks @haim! It's a music teaching job involving lots of string teaching which is great.
Also thank you so much for listening to "Belong to You" and putting it on the Recommended Listening thread - very honoured you thought it worthy to share ๐Ÿ˜€
How's your FAWMing going this year?

  • @jessi14  Feb 2019

Thank you for listening to my "alles muss vergehen" and your lovely comment. I went to Israel a few years ago and I loved Jerusalem. What an inspiring place to be writing music. Happy FAWMing! Have fun

  • @brynjabja Feb 2019

Thanks I'm happy you like my song <3
It can be pretty cold and dark in the winter, but it can also be very beautiful. Summers especially.
I've heard of the band but they are Swedish actually

  • @brynjabja Feb 2019

Hey, Thanks! What you heard on my soundcloud was Icelandic ๐Ÿ˜€
Hope to hear songs from you

  • @gloverm  Feb 2019

Thanks for the nice comments, my friend! Hope to hear some music from you soon ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @leah0k  Feb 2019

Hey! I use a Zoom MRS-1608 to record. Itโ€™s very old school but itโ€™s what I have right now haha! Itโ€™s definitely more time consuming that the slick computer programs that are out there, and someday Iโ€™ll learn a new system for sure, Iโ€™m sure my little machine wonโ€™t last forever! What do you use?

  • @larryw Feb 2019

Thanks for the comment about Carmelita, i'm not really sure where it would fit, so perhaps a smokey latina atmosphere would be great

  • @larryw Feb 2019

I'll post something tomorrow for you on the object writing page

  • @tcelliott  Feb 2019

Heya... I hope you have a good FAWM... thanks for joking around with me on the forums.

  • @boyatheart  Feb 2019

Thanks for the comments. Looking forward to hearing something from you. Good luck! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @judypie  Feb 2019

Thanks dude! I donโ€™t speak Spanish really so my Bolivian friend made sure it was correct for me ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @judypie  Feb 2019

Hey dude, sorry to hear you were having bad vibes! Hope itโ€™s better? Thank you for listening to my song, that was ad tied up muffled at the end yes. This song was totally tongue in cheek, when love goes too far! I had great fun messing with it ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @larryw Feb 2019

Hi @haim I am indeed the same Larry (sorry I've not done the wall one yet!) I try not to sing, unless you need a room cleared quite quickly. So generally I only write lyrics, or I will put a basic melody down on piano/guitar as a guide for anyone I might be working with

  • @alyxanderjames  Feb 2019

Hey, thank you so much for your thoughtful comments on my red winged blackbird song! Really means a lot. Have a fabulous FAWM!

  • @gromwaf Feb 2019

Thank you brother, have a nice fawm..

    stay true!

  • @factorytale Feb 2019

Thanks for your feed back on my song "sweet escape" very nice words from you <3

  • @leah0k  Feb 2019

Thanks so much for the thoughtful notes on my song! I usually use little weird clicky sound-y things around me because I donโ€™t like the way pre-programmed drums sound out of my little machine I use to record- so glad you could enjoy those funny sounds then! Iโ€™m sure there will be more of that coming... ha!

  • @wolfkier Feb 2019

    Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @hoppiern  Feb 2019

Thanks for your kind comments on my song!! Looking forward to hearing yours!!

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 2019

Gwyn is too shy to join FAWM so we are co-writing and I am posting them on his behalf ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @martinneuhold Feb 2019

Thanks a lot for your comment. Playing like that is indeed a bit like meditation or walking in the woods....as soon as I donโ€™t mess up the settings of the delays and loopers or the timing of the drums...but once Iโ€˜m sort of into the music I can just let go of everything and just play...๐Ÿ˜Š
