    I don't know whether I've heard "Morgaine At Ivrel"; the title alone isn't clicking with me. But it almost has to be the same novel, first of the Morgaine series.

    Thanks for your comments on Rise Again...Actually the fans thundering are the large gasoline-powered fans used to fill the envelopes with cold air before they fire up the propane burners to heat the air inside. I realized there was a high probability that people would interpret it the other way, but it didn't seem worth trying to rewrite that section... 😀

    I have no idea whether there's such a thing as a nursery rhyme purist. but I'll bet you a nickel that when Robert Samber published his collection of Mother Goose rhymes in 1729, he was accosted by people who indignantly groused that he got their favorite tales all wrong.
