"Like Kurt Cobain and Tom Verlaine meeting at a Steely Dan concert, taking MDMA together and bonding over a shared love of Rihanna and Dr Pepper." - Nobody, because that would be frankly absurd.
Singer/songwriter who makes little-to-no sense with or without anyone joining in. Too fiddly for solo shows and too awkward and various to form a band (I've tried both many times). Someone called me "outsider art" once. Call me Four (he/him pronouns).
Class of 2011 - I just keep coming back for more it seems! I play guitar, mainly, but attempt all sorts of other things. I've been writing songs since I was 12, and have done eight FAWMs, as well as writing and recording loads of other songs on my own and with several bands. This year I'm going to endeavour to do as much as I can on my studio setup instead of just recording with Audacity and my laptop mic.

Note: I know that's not how you spell "zeros". I was going to make something up about it relating to the opposite of "heroes", but... no, I was just having a slightly thick day when I first signed up to FAWM.
Well I was definitely NOT saying that your song was anything like the one I referenced. Completely different in every way, even the way it used names/facts. The names/facts just made that song come to mind. Yours had an actual story and each verse uses those facts to compare the kids. I thought your Boys of Summer was fantastic. 😀
Hey that's cool - I hadn't read that before, but yep - it's a great concept,m obviously!!
Yeah, the whole having to play it all in one go was a bit of a difficult task for me. I'm so used to just redoing bits over and over and then cutting and pasting then together
Hi. I have a cassette tape for you. Please can you email me your address firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks so much for your excellent clarification. Now I know, before hadn’t a clue.
Hey, thanks for your comment 😉 The song is downloadable, if you want to sing over it, go for it !! 😉
Thanks for the comment. I love your FAWM count chart. Graphics. Love them! 😀
Thanks for commenting on Poker Face. I’m afraid I don’t understand what your comment means but would like to. Please clarify. It is my understanding that all FAWM songs are not cover songs.
Ha, sadly not! I do get a bunch of messages and tweets from people saying "it happened again!" though. Never does a cat make it onto a pitch without somebody letting me know. Which is... Useful?
Thanks so much for your kind words! Going to check out some of your songs now <3
Oh, and I hope you do send the song. I think it would make them happy. Not that I know them at all, but it seems like they were happy to see you turn up at a show, and I think we all worry too much about how much time goes between seeing friends, when generally, they're more happy we got in touch than sad that it had taken so long.
Alas, I am somewhat ignorant about what I do... If it helps, it started with an F#m chord with a falling bass-note, then I riffed around on that. I couldn't actually play it very well, so I de-tuned my guitar to an open chord so I just had to finger the bass-note and the others were open, then re-tuned it to play the rest of the song... The joy of recorded music is that you can cheat 😀
Thanks for listening to my song. I've been told that I tend to write in weird modes but any time tube tried to do it deliberately, I've failed, do I do, indeed, just go with what sounds right. I'm guessing I've listened to a whole load of modal music and it's influenced me.
Wotcha! *waves manically*
It is almost February. I am getting quite excited now!
I think we need more zeroes in the world!
No idea how many songs I've written between FAWM and 50/90; maybe 200?
Oh, yeah! That's a great idea! I've got one of the 2 pickup tulip guitars, I am absolutely going to use it this FAWM, and then stick something in it! Perhaps a flash drive with the song on it... 😀
Haha! 1D is a good band and they spawned two really great solo artists: Zayn and Harry Styles. Both are very talented.
see you on a C90! have fun!
It's probably still complete garbage! 😀
This is our ninth FAWM, can you believe it?!?
Cheers! Looking forward to crossing paths on some more tapes next month!
I got it, thanks. That brings us to four UK four-trackers, which makes things easier!
I wonder if virtual airgap is sufficient for VSTi's?
Thanks for the xtra zeros - now that I'm using 64bit software I can finally fit them in!
I'm gathering mailing addresses for the 4-track challenge. Please email me yours (click through my profile) and I'll get you on the list. Thanks!
