Influences: Folk traditions, medieval music, electronica, and singer-songwriter culture
Hi. I'm Monique Bouchard. I've been raising my voice to sing in the wilderness, the concert hall, the chapel, and the fireside for as long as I can remember.
Historically-inspired melodies and lyrics -- unaccompanied, simply adorned with instrumentation, or melded with evocative soundscapes -- are what I most often write and perform.
This is my first FAWM, and while I've been writing original music for more than a decade now, it has had a limited community reach.
I'm letting myself be lead and excited by whatever may come in this process, and am quite happily exploring wherever this particular muse takes me.
So far, it has taken me everywhere except where I've been, and it has avoided familiar paths entirely.
I'm grateful for both.

Hi Monique... sorry for the delayed response on your comments about my songs. I’m afraid the deep freeze Texas fell into this past week made things impossible for me to make write responses, comments and general “hellos”. We lost power for two days and worried about our pipes freezing/bursting the entire week. Then at my office, I spent the weekend dealing with a burst pipe and water damage there.
Needless to say... things have been rough.
Anyway, my reason out of the way... thank you, so SO very much for the kind words you wrote about my two offerings so far. I’m humbled my little “ukulele identity” song brought a tear to your eye. Thank you so much.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on "It's been a great year for death!"
Thank you so much for your lovely and thoughtful comment on Birds, “sticky imagery”is one of the best compliments I’ve received, I really appreciate you listening! <3
Thanks for your kind words! I'm not sure I'll end up finishing my story, but I hope so!
Thanks for listening and your kind words. You got what I was going for!
I have never, before tonight, written a breakup song. (And I'm not even breaking up with anyone!)
Thanks for kind words !
I'm fighting a good fight with Song Number Two.
It's called "Spark" and it's very very outside of my comfort zone. But it WANTS to come out. I'll get a draft up, and maybe I can find a collaborator to improve on my fairly basic electronic music skills.
Nice venues! Your "sound" sounds interesting - looking forward to hearing your work.
Welcome to FAWM!!!
Welcome, and happy FAWMing!
