A native Irishman who has lived in the Uk for 33 years.
Been doing this since I was 15 years old, love music like I love life.
I play all the instruments on the songs but am a bass player as my primary tool. The rest I muddle along with.
Not the greatest singer in the world and where I can I press my friend Mick Gardner to sing for me.
He is awesome as you can hear on "Dark Side of Town" which is in my non FAWM 21 set
Happy to collaborate, I can add arrangements to guitar or piano songs, play bass, write music for lyrics I find interesting and happy to
master recordings if you want to add some sparkle.
Lots of stuff on here now but not all new songs. I am marking the actual new songs with [FAWM 21]
A belated thankyou for your kind comment on "Choir's Back!"
This is the lap-steel sample pack that I used on Country-song (as well as Potential Consequences and Easy For You To Say, so getting my money's worth already!):

Hi Davey! Thank you so much for your comments, and a HUGE thank you for that remix! It took a frankly (for me) mediocre track and made it super special! As with nancyrost below, I will need to re-record this with new lyrics, but this will be somewhere down the road. Thanks again!
Hey Davey, thanks for thinking of us with the mastering. I was *really* struggling with my recording setup at the beginning of FAWM. It definitely got better by the end. This is actually going to get re-recorded with Mike doing the vocal. What mastering software did you use?
wow what a productive first fawm you have had. well done indeed, congratulations π
@daveboy103 Thanks for the comment left on 'Worryin' Worryin'' π
Thanks!
Cheers Davey, Thanks for jumping in on a couple of my lyrics. Very much appreciated and looking forward to maybe catching up again during 5090
Gee Dave, seeing the messages about all of those great downloadable songs we did, there does seem to be an ice and snow theme... who knew? Thanks for making them downloadable and more importantly, that you for the awesome gift of your collaboration and music!
Just wanted to thank you again for your encouragement and your take on things. We'll have to do this again next year or in the summer, if you're joining 50/90.
Actually, we're all big LFC fans and my son has "You'll Never Walk Alone" on his left upper arm!!!
My son has ink but I'm afraid of needles (I'll get the vaccine though!!)
Thanks for your comment!
Hey David - just a quick note to thank you for all of your support and kind words throughout this month - I've enjoyed getting to know your music, and it is all because of YOU that I was able to reach 14 songs this year! Now that things are quieting down I look forward to getting to the vocals on The Far Shore. Cheers!
Certainly.
Hi, I'm so sorry I haven't had a chance to add vox to anything for you. I stupidly agreed to collab early in FAWM when I thought I'd have more time, but it turns out being a new country, learning a new language and a new job is harder than I thought...who knew? I'm so very sorry. I hope we can keep in touch though. x
Thanks! I would love to collaborate with you anytime!
I have to catch up listening! I have found so many co-writers here that it amazes me. And such good friends too! I will send you an email so we can keep in touch.
Wow! You are prolific too! I wrote this ghost one for a skirmish and I have always been fascinated by any Native American dances. I've been to powwows. I'm part Cherokee and Choctaw, but not a large amount. I hope we can work together again!
I appreciate your kind words! Being compared to Devo is a big compliment π looks like you've had a wildly successful FAWM. Congratulations!
Holy Crow..that's a whole lotta music you put out there! Congrats.
Thank you for taking a listen to Invocation. I'm looking forward to retracking that one with a click this time...know what I mean? π
Good bones though. Thanks for your comments.
Thanks for checking out No Way No Way! Nothing wrong with country ballads if they make our rock songs stand out. More country ballads please.
Sure!
Itβs in D
Thanks for thinking of me, I think Iβm done for FAWM now. I was sick all week and now need to catch up with everything as I regain energy.
I will be back to listen. Really love your work!
We don't touch the yellow snow. Β°_Β°
Peace <3
I hope you do come back!! and bring a friend πΆ"we are FAWMily"
Re: Breaking Through Thin Ice" Thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to hearing your version of the song π
Whoops. Of course it was. Corrected now.
Ahh, my apologies, my gmail account has become a spam folder, I only check it once a week. Listening to it now, freakin awesome π
I didn't know that was happening but I would love to hear it π
Hey, thank you for your kind words.
Iβm honored that you ask me to sing a song of yours but Iβll have to pass for now, too busy trying to get to 14.
And Iβm heavily insecure about my singing, so it would take up way too much time to get it done in a fashion that I would be satisfied with.
I really only sing my songs on FAWM because there is no time between writing and recording to get singers I know involved.
The plan is there to get singing lessons this coming year so maybe we can hook up next year for a collab?
And if you would like it, Iβm willing to have a go at it after FAWM when I have some more time and there is less pressure?
Just let me know okay.
Hi! Just popping in to say thanks for your kind comments on Dance with Me, Distant Escape, and Aftermath! Much appreciated π
Glad you liked my comments on your collab with Liz.
I think you'd really like a song of mine from 2017. If you've got a moment, please give it a listen/watch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu933J0ea_Q
Thanks for listening to my songs and giving such thoughtful, encouraging feedback -- a little positive jolt to my day that keeps me going on my next track! Cheers!
Love this!!!!
Okay! Thanks!
Sure...do what you like with Life is good...just give me a credit.
Iβve taken too many walks on thin ice?
YOU SAID: "Dublin born and bred" - My maternal Grandma was born and bred in the Coombe.
Yes, I was a great fan of Moving Hearts and Christy. I got to Horslips late, so they sounded a bit dated by the time I discovered them. Still some good stuff, mind.
I know what you mean about rejecting the tradition in favour of rock. I was brought up on rebel songs, the Dubliners, the Irish Rovers, etc. But "MY" music was the Stones, The Doors, Hendrix, etc. But the indoctrination seeped out later when I became a semi-pro folk singer. it also helped that Planxty emerged on the scene and lots of young people started to listen to them. Suddenly, Irish Traditional Music (with a "Planxty Twist") was "cool" - My mates stopped taking the piss out of me for liking it and I returned to the fold, so to speak.
YOU SAID: "Always good to hook up with a fellow ex-pat Paddy."
My family's roots are in Connemara and Dublin, where are you from yourself? I am an ex-pat (I live in Catalunya) but I'm actually a "Plastic Paddy" since I was born in Liverpool. But my passport proves I am an Irish Citizen, not a bloody "subject" of Lizzie's.
There were so many Irish families in Liverpool, back then, that the joke there went: "What's the capital of Ireland?" and the answer was "Liverpool"π
Glad you liked me and Sheila's "Faerie Ring" song. I'm actually Irish, so the Dublin reference was on the nail.
You are one prolific cat! Congrats on the win and thanks for listening to Walk Steady. I appreciate the commentary. Content of character is definitely superseded by skin color affinity. That's a hard barrier to break for the masses.
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment on my twiddlings. It's very much appreciated. Especially from a fellow bass player! π
Hi David, Ok with me if you want to post the "Predictable" collab.
Now there's an idea. Why not, indeed?
Damn my friend, you are prolific! Congrats on completing Fawm several times over!!
Thanks for your comment on my song.
The written link to your Soundcloud site didn't work. Fortunately the link behind the cloud icon did. Loved your collab with Liz (Sinkin') and will explore more when I get a moment. Might be after FAWM now.
@daveyboy103 thx so much for your encouragement on Potter Song. Credit where its due i wrote melody and sang the harmonies but production was outsourced. Wow 44 I better listen more
Too true. One day I will untangle all my various page commitments and make the break, well at least that's what I keep telling myself π
Thank you! That is GREAT!!! I think the vocals you did and the added vocals sound great! I donβt think my own vocals would add much except pitch problemsπ
Okay! Maybe a polka? π

I totally trust your musical sensibility. You have such incredible musical breadth and depth! Everything I have heard of yours has been phenomenal. I know my lyrics are in good hands!
Thanks for asking about Break The Ice - I would love to hear your rendition ! Liz
Thanks so much, man! Dan
Thank you for taking the time to listen to several of my songs, The kind comments are appreciated.
Hello, thanks! Here are the chords for The New Wild West
Dm9 Dusu2 (b6) C#m6 (b9) C add9 Bm G (repeat)
Eb G Eb Em Am7
thanks for the comments and the tip about orchestral sounds.
Thank you very much for your comment on "DΓ‘leigh O'Fleiarty". I'm sure you're right that it would certainly be even better and more authentic in Gaelic! Unfortunately I don't know anyone π and my friend, #dukemeyer has a just great voice.... π
Thank you for the amazing comments. I struggle with delicate. Too heavy handed for that. π
The Manics are a huge influence. Even when Iβm trying to avoid sounding like them
Hi Dave, good job on Wrong side of town. Much better guitar work and other instrumentation. Shame about the dodgy singer, he he. Thanks for doing this.
Your comments come across kind of like negative criticism to me . I count in my tune because it settles me and gets me ready and itβs the way I want to do it . I donβt know who or what the saw doctors are and I donβt really give a flying fuck .
Thank you for the comment.
Hi David, could you email me an MP3 or WAVE copy of Money in the Mail that you recorded. I don't see a way to download. nathanspears@verizon.net Thanks
Hi Davey, re Wrong Side of Town. I never actually plan out what I'm going to play in advance, but listening to it, I'm pretty sure it's just at CFG kind of thing, probably in that order. I don't think I used a capo on this one, but if it doesn't sound right aim for the 2nd, or third fret and see if that helps. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I'm terrible at that sort of thing π
Thanks for the comment of He's Never Coming Back.
Hi there, re Wrong side of town, please be my guest. I'd love to hear what you could do with it.
Yeah nice stuff on there.
Haha I am calling it the Tiny Bass Guitar forever now thank you - also I'm not playing the pictured ukulele in this song, I'm playing a Tiny Actual Guitar, mostly on the high strings, so it SOUNDS like a ukulele JUST TO BE CONFUSING! Thank you for your lovely comment, you may not be able to buy that brand of "dumb" but definitely don't sell it, it'll come in handy when you need to invent things (like Tiny Bass Guitars) π
yes, i like his voice
Thanks for your kind words on "Who's In the Chimney?". The music is now posted.
Hey, thanks for offering the mastering suite on my song. I have a buddy tracking out some new drum tracks for it, but I might reach out once he sends those over.
Thx for comments!
Go for it! Can't wait to hear what you come up with. π
Thanks for the kind words on my tune! Feel free to do whatever you want with an arrangement! That's totally not in my wheelhouse.
Thanks for listening and kind words on my song . Cheers
By all means mess around with The Pilot. Happy to message me the link before posting?
Chords on this one are simple.
Verse: C Am F G
Chorus: F G Am
Thanks for the offer! I will definitely keep that in mind π
Thanks for your comment on Irish Wristwatch!
That's cool about being taught by the same guy to play bass. Yes he was a great bassist and Brian Downey is very, very underrated as a 'pots and pans' man π
I only got to see them on Thunder and Lightening tour but was a fan from about 1976 onwards
Hi Dave I see you name Thin Lizzy as an influence, they are my favourite rock band and I went to see a few back in the day π
Covid? It is going to be a viral experience still...
Thank you for listening
Wow you are bashing out the tunes, thanks for the offer to play bass I may take you up on that one time. I'll need to do some more listening, thank you for the very kind comments, much appreciated.
Thanks Davey. I wish I had some of his presence in the voice, that was a great version.
Peace <3
Oh my goodness, Davey! Such kind words. Thank you for making my night.
David, thanks for recording "Boulder County Rose." The 'flatirons' photo is right-on too.
Thx coming from a great player I appreciate that! I love funk!
Thx soundcloud crapped out on me
Nice work! I loved the full arrangement. Thank you!
Happy to help out with one of your songs! Is there one that you're thinking of in particular?
thanks for commenting on Prose and Cons...i can't tell you how unjustifiably happy i was with myself. lol
Thanks for listening to my song and the kind words . Thanks so much .cheers
thanks for the comments. I do indeed have mostly scottish ancestry, there's probably some lingering anger toward the english in my blood
Hey there, you're welcome to add an arrangement to the vocals of "Winter Walk" if you'd like - can't wait to hear!
Go for it!
