A native Irishman who has lived in the Uk for 33 years.

Been doing this since I was 15 years old, love music like I love life.

I play all the instruments on the songs but am a bass player as my primary tool. The rest I muddle along with.

Not the greatest singer in the world and where I can I press my friend Mick Gardner to sing for me.

He is awesome as you can hear on "Dark Side of Town" which is in my non FAWM 21 set

Happy to collaborate, I can add arrangements to guitar or piano songs, play bass, write music for lyrics I find interesting and happy to
master recordings if you want to add some sparkle.

Lots of stuff on here now but not all new songs. I am marking the actual new songs with [FAWM 21]

It’s been brought to my attention that the @mentions in my song posts don’t actually do anything to let that person know I’ve said anything to them. So, yes, here we are, towards the end of March, but for my own vanity and sanity, I’m responding to a now 6-week old comment you kindly left for my track Insane Love (https://fawm.org/songs/119708/):
"Oh, I listened to World Machine A LOT! I know whenever I arrive at a melody it will have undoubtedly appeared somewhere at some time.... As soon as you mentioned Level 42, I could hear where some of this song's vibe had originated."

  • @kenmattsson  6 weeks

Hey @daveyboy103, I listened through your songs, and I found four of them that I think would fit my voice and I could do justice to them:

    * Pretending https://fawm.org/songs/117285/
    * When Dreams Fly https://fawm.org/songs/111051/ (Granted you already had that covered, but I really like it!)
    * Sink In, Let Go https://fawm.org/songs/120823/
    * Dreams May Come True https://fawm.org/songs/122159/.

Let me know if you'd be interested in my singing on any of them. You can email me and also I'll be around for 50/90.

  • @emkaydeebee  8 weeks

    That is epic! Well done!

  • @emkaydeebee  8 weeks

Yeah, writing a song introducing yourself does kinda set one’s teeth on edge doesn’t it? It’s just finding that angle that prevents it being twee, or conversely I suppose fully embracing the twee and running with it?!

  • @emkaydeebee  8 weeks

Hey @daveyboy103! Just stopping by and listening to a couple of tracks - trying to check in with all the folks from fawm that have signed up to SpinTunes. I'm really excited by it! Having seen the range of what you're doing, I can't wait to hear what you do with it!

  • @mal70 8 weeks

SCIATICA BLUES - yes, damned uncomfortable when it comes. Fortunately the lyric was after the worst and exercise helps!

  • @kenmattsson  Mar 7

@daveyboy103, I am definitely interested in singing on some of these songs, and there are so many to choose from. Are any off limits?

Also, I'm a bit FAWMed out of listening, so I'm going to take a couple of days off to get my energy back for listening, commenting and collaborating, but I'll be back (and I've signed up for 50/90 already, so there will be opportunities there too!)

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Mar 5

and also ditto - "A Painting From My Memory"

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Mar 5

Dave, thanks for your fine recording of "Boulder County Rose."

  • @audrey  Mar 4

A belated thankyou for your kind comment on "Choir's Back!"

  • @vomvorton  Mar 4

This is the lap-steel sample pack that I used on Country-song (as well as Potential Consequences and Easy For You To Say, so getting my money's worth already!):

  • @bigstarlet Mar 3

Hi Davey! Thank you so much for your comments, and a HUGE thank you for that remix! It took a frankly (for me) mediocre track and made it super special! As with nancyrost below, I will need to re-record this with new lyrics, but this will be somewhere down the road. Thanks again!

  • @nancyrost  Mar 3

Hey Davey, thanks for thinking of us with the mastering. I was *really* struggling with my recording setup at the beginning of FAWM. It definitely got better by the end. This is actually going to get re-recorded with Mike doing the vocal. What mastering software did you use?

  • @wobbiewobbit  Mar 3

wow what a productive first fawm you have had. well done indeed, congratulations 😀

  • @apolez3 Mar 2

@daveboy103 Thanks for the comment left on 'Worryin' Worryin'' 😀

  • @cindyrella  Mar 2

  • @blindkiwi  Mar 2

Cheers Davey, Thanks for jumping in on a couple of my lyrics. Very much appreciated and looking forward to maybe catching up again during 5090

  • @kahlo2013 Mar 2

Gee Dave, seeing the messages about all of those great downloadable songs we did, there does seem to be an ice and snow theme... who knew? Thanks for making them downloadable and more importantly, that you for the awesome gift of your collaboration and music!

  • @squeakmouse73 Mar 2

Just wanted to thank you again for your encouragement and your take on things. We'll have to do this again next year or in the summer, if you're joining 50/90.

  • @liz561  Mar 1

Actually, we're all big LFC fans and my son has "You'll Never Walk Alone" on his left upper arm!!!

  • @liz561  Mar 1

My son has ink but I'm afraid of needles (I'll get the vaccine though!!)

  • @nadine Mar 1

    Thanks for your comment!

  • @eas3637  Mar 1

Hey David - just a quick note to thank you for all of your support and kind words throughout this month - I've enjoyed getting to know your music, and it is all because of YOU that I was able to reach 14 songs this year! Now that things are quieting down I look forward to getting to the vocals on The Far Shore. Cheers!

  • @mctown Feb 28

  • @caseewilson  Feb 28

Hi, I'm so sorry I haven't had a chance to add vox to anything for you. I stupidly agreed to collab early in FAWM when I thought I'd have more time, but it turns out being a new country, learning a new language and a new job is harder than I thought...who knew? I'm so very sorry. I hope we can keep in touch though. x

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 27

Thanks! I would love to collaborate with you anytime!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 27

I have to catch up listening! I have found so many co-writers here that it amazes me. And such good friends too! I will send you an email so we can keep in touch.

  • @cindyrella  Feb 27

Wow! You are prolific too! I wrote this ghost one for a skirmish and I have always been fascinated by any Native American dances. I've been to powwows. I'm part Cherokee and Choctaw, but not a large amount. I hope we can work together again!

  • @nateger Feb 27

I appreciate your kind words! Being compared to Devo is a big compliment 😊 looks like you've had a wildly successful FAWM. Congratulations!

  • @sunnymae  Feb 27

Holy Crow..that's a whole lotta music you put out there! Congrats.
Thank you for taking a listen to Invocation. I'm looking forward to retracking that one with a click this time...know what I mean? 😀
Good bones though. Thanks for your comments.

  • @iwilleatyou Feb 26

Thanks for checking out No Way No Way! Nothing wrong with country ballads if they make our rock songs stand out. More country ballads please.

  • @cindyrella  Feb 26

  • @theresaj  Feb 26

    It’s in D

  • @theresaj  Feb 26

Thanks for thinking of me, I think I’m done for FAWM now. I was sick all week and now need to catch up with everything as I regain energy.
I will be back to listen. Really love your work!

  • @pumpkinhead Feb 26

We don't touch the yellow snow. °_°
    Peace <3

  • @gm7  Feb 26

I hope you do come back!! and bring a friend 🎶"we are FAWMily"

  • @songwritingzen  Feb 26

Re: Breaking Through Thin Ice" Thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to hearing your version of the song 😀

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 26

Whoops. Of course it was. Corrected now.

  • @blindkiwi  Feb 26

Ahh, my apologies, my gmail account has become a spam folder, I only check it once a week. Listening to it now, freakin awesome 😁

  • @blindkiwi  Feb 26

I didn't know that was happening but I would love to hear it 😀

  • @alboe Feb 26

Hey, thank you for your kind words.
I’m honored that you ask me to sing a song of yours but I’ll have to pass for now, too busy trying to get to 14.
And I’m heavily insecure about my singing, so it would take up way too much time to get it done in a fashion that I would be satisfied with.
I really only sing my songs on FAWM because there is no time between writing and recording to get singers I know involved.
The plan is there to get singing lessons this coming year so maybe we can hook up next year for a collab?
And if you would like it, I’m willing to have a go at it after FAWM when I have some more time and there is less pressure?
    Just let me know okay.

  • @pianoonthepatio Feb 26

Hi! Just popping in to say thanks for your kind comments on Dance with Me, Distant Escape, and Aftermath! Much appreciated 😁

  • @berni1954  Feb 25

Glad you liked my comments on your collab with Liz.
I think you'd really like a song of mine from 2017. If you've got a moment, please give it a listen/watch:

  • @bfwaite  Feb 25

Thanks for listening to my songs and giving such thoughtful, encouraging feedback -- a little positive jolt to my day that keeps me going on my next track! Cheers!

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 25

    Love this!!!!

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 25

    Okay! Thanks!

  • @susancantey  Feb 25

Sure...do what you like with Life is good...just give me a credit.

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 25

I’ve taken too many walks on thin ice?

  • @berni1954  Feb 25

YOU SAID: "Dublin born and bred" - My maternal Grandma was born and bred in the Coombe.

Yes, I was a great fan of Moving Hearts and Christy. I got to Horslips late, so they sounded a bit dated by the time I discovered them. Still some good stuff, mind.

  • @berni1954  Feb 25

I know what you mean about rejecting the tradition in favour of rock. I was brought up on rebel songs, the Dubliners, the Irish Rovers, etc. But "MY" music was the Stones, The Doors, Hendrix, etc. But the indoctrination seeped out later when I became a semi-pro folk singer. it also helped that Planxty emerged on the scene and lots of young people started to listen to them. Suddenly, Irish Traditional Music (with a "Planxty Twist") was "cool" - My mates stopped taking the piss out of me for liking it and I returned to the fold, so to speak.

  • @berni1954  Feb 25

YOU SAID: "Always good to hook up with a fellow ex-pat Paddy."
My family's roots are in Connemara and Dublin, where are you from yourself? I am an ex-pat (I live in Catalunya) but I'm actually a "Plastic Paddy" since I was born in Liverpool. But my passport proves I am an Irish Citizen, not a bloody "subject" of Lizzie's.
There were so many Irish families in Liverpool, back then, that the joke there went: "What's the capital of Ireland?" and the answer was "Liverpool"😁

  • @berni1954  Feb 25

Glad you liked me and Sheila's "Faerie Ring" song. I'm actually Irish, so the Dublin reference was on the nail.

  • @cts  Feb 24

You are one prolific cat! Congrats on the win and thanks for listening to Walk Steady. I appreciate the commentary. Content of character is definitely superseded by skin color affinity. That's a hard barrier to break for the masses.

  • @dragondreams  Feb 23

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment on my twiddlings. It's very much appreciated. Especially from a fellow bass player! 😀

  • @eas3637  Feb 23

Hi David, Ok with me if you want to post the "Predictable" collab.

  • @headfirstonly  Feb 23

Now there's an idea. Why not, indeed?

  • @kvnwoodruff  Feb 23

Damn my friend, you are prolific! Congrats on completing Fawm several times over!!

  • @davewermers Feb 22

Thanks for your comment on my song.

  • @berni1954  Feb 22

The written link to your Soundcloud site didn't work. Fortunately the link behind the cloud icon did. Loved your collab with Liz (Sinkin') and will explore more when I get a moment. Might be after FAWM now.

  • @aneil Feb 22

@daveyboy103 thx so much for your encouragement on Potter Song. Credit where its due i wrote melody and sang the harmonies but production was outsourced. Wow 44 I better listen more

  • @blindkiwi  Feb 22

Too true. One day I will untangle all my various page commitments and make the break, well at least that's what I keep telling myself 😀

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 22

Thank you! That is GREAT!!! I think the vocals you did and the added vocals sound great! I don’t think my own vocals would add much except pitch problems😁

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 21

    Okay! Maybe a polka? 😁

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 21

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 21

I totally trust your musical sensibility. You have such incredible musical breadth and depth! Everything I have heard of yours has been phenomenal. I know my lyrics are in good hands!

  • @kahlo2013 Feb 21

Thanks for asking about Break The Ice - I would love to hear your rendition ! Liz

  • @dantanz1 Feb 20

    Thanks so much, man! Dan

  • @matthew62  Feb 20

Thank you for taking the time to listen to several of my songs, The kind comments are appreciated.

  • @richardmasters  Feb 19

Hello, thanks! Here are the chords for The New Wild West

    Dm9 Dusu2 (b6) C#m6 (b9) C add9 Bm G (repeat)

    Eb G Eb Em Am7

  • @n1742  Feb 19

thanks for the comments and the tip about orchestral sounds.

  • @grenzgaengerin Feb 19

Thank you very much for your comment on "Dáleigh O'Fleiarty". I'm sure you're right that it would certainly be even better and more authentic in Gaelic! Unfortunately I don't know anyone 😉 and my friend, #dukemeyer has a just great voice.... 😉

  • @mattwdunn Feb 19

Thank you for the amazing comments. I struggle with delicate. Too heavy handed for that. 😂

The Manics are a huge influence. Even when I’m trying to avoid sounding like them

  • @gordon  Feb 19

Hi Dave, good job on Wrong side of town. Much better guitar work and other instrumentation. Shame about the dodgy singer, he he. Thanks for doing this.

  • @misterd Feb 19

Your comments come across kind of like negative criticism to me . I count in my tune because it settles me and gets me ready and it’s the way I want to do it . I don’t know who or what the saw doctors are and I don’t really give a flying fuck .

  • @persaab Feb 19

    Thank you for the comment.

  • @goldarrow  Feb 19

Hi David, could you email me an MP3 or WAVE copy of Money in the Mail that you recorded. I don't see a way to download. nathanspears@verizon.net Thanks

  • @gordon  Feb 18

Hi Davey, re Wrong Side of Town. I never actually plan out what I'm going to play in advance, but listening to it, I'm pretty sure it's just at CFG kind of thing, probably in that order. I don't think I used a capo on this one, but if it doesn't sound right aim for the 2nd, or third fret and see if that helps. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I'm terrible at that sort of thing 😀

  • @billgcaldwell  Feb 18

Thanks for the comment of He's Never Coming Back.

  • @gordon  Feb 18

Hi there, re Wrong side of town, please be my guest. I'd love to hear what you could do with it.

  • @geoff61 Feb 17

    Yeah nice stuff on there.

  • @theodamus  Feb 17

Haha I am calling it the Tiny Bass Guitar forever now thank you - also I'm not playing the pictured ukulele in this song, I'm playing a Tiny Actual Guitar, mostly on the high strings, so it SOUNDS like a ukulele JUST TO BE CONFUSING! Thank you for your lovely comment, you may not be able to buy that brand of "dumb" but definitely don't sell it, it'll come in handy when you need to invent things (like Tiny Bass Guitars) 😁

  • @geoff61 Feb 17

    yes, i like his voice

  • @ceilidh  Feb 16

Thanks for your kind words on "Who's In the Chimney?". The music is now posted.

  • @torosintheatmosphere Feb 16

Hey, thanks for offering the mastering suite on my song. I have a buddy tracking out some new drum tracks for it, but I might reach out once he sends those over.

  • @engebretsen  Feb 16

    Thx for comments!

  • @madthesinger  Feb 15

Go for it! Can't wait to hear what you come up with. 😀

  • @madthesinger  Feb 15

Thanks for the kind words on my tune! Feel free to do whatever you want with an arrangement! That's totally not in my wheelhouse.

  • @misterd Feb 15

Thanks for listening and kind words on my song . Cheers

  • @pgcl  Feb 15

By all means mess around with The Pilot. Happy to message me the link before posting?

Chords on this one are simple.
    Verse: C Am F G
    Chorus: F G Am

  • @metalfoot  Feb 15

Thanks for the offer! I will definitely keep that in mind 😀

  • @andyt13 Feb 14

Thanks for your comment on Irish Wristwatch!

  • @geoff61 Feb 12

That's cool about being taught by the same guy to play bass. Yes he was a great bassist and Brian Downey is very, very underrated as a 'pots and pans' man 😀

  • @geoff61 Feb 12

I only got to see them on Thunder and Lightening tour but was a fan from about 1976 onwards

  • @geoff61 Feb 12

Hi Dave I see you name Thin Lizzy as an influence, they are my favourite rock band and I went to see a few back in the day 😀

  • @marthie Feb 11

Covid? It is going to be a viral experience still...

  • @marthie Feb 11

    Thank you for listening

  • @gerrybhoy  Feb 11

Wow you are bashing out the tunes, thanks for the offer to play bass I may take you up on that one time. I'll need to do some more listening, thank you for the very kind comments, much appreciated.

  • @pumpkinhead Feb 11

Thanks Davey. I wish I had some of his presence in the voice, that was a great version.
    Peace <3

  • @wondertruly Feb 11

Oh my goodness, Davey! Such kind words. Thank you for making my night.

  • @kingwoodkowboy  Feb 11

David, thanks for recording "Boulder County Rose." The 'flatirons' photo is right-on too.
