I live in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Since the beginning of lockdown I've performed a weekly livestream of original music on Youtube Facebook and others... edited to add - I am taking a few weeks off until restrictions for musicians open up so I can once again play in a safe and distanced way with my dear friend and killer percussionist Ray Dillard - or the end of FAWM - when I will do a live stream of exclusively FAWM created songs
Also attempting to write a song in real time on twitch for half an hour once a week on Tuesdays at 9:30am while my kids are next to me doing online school.
I love unreliable narrators, the unexpected and wonky melodies.
Pronouns: She/Her
Inspired by @ductapeguy and @moonraccoon I'm adding my fawm 2021 album cover inspiration
Also - my sister who is one of the most beautiful creatives I know has decided to hop on the FAWM train. If you're into the unexpected, you won't want to miss checking her out at @willow1

I'm still catching up on sending thank you notes for your having stopped by my song "When it Snows". I am so touched by the support and comments this song has gotten. I played this at a zoom open mic even though it's not quite polished and it was well received. I will be back in touch if I get the demo up in case anyone is around to listen. Your time and support mean so much to me and I really appreciate your having taken time for me.
Thanks for the listen and compliment. π
Thank you for your great comment. It was a lot of fun to write and record.
Thanks for the comment on "Tarzan Movie"! It certainly was a blast to write. The title just popped into my head at work and my job is a bit mind-numbing, so I got to rolling ideas around in my head and when I sat down to write them down, I had the full lyrics written in no time. I had fun dropping obscure and not so obscure references here and there, such as the gorilla warfare and the end sample. Glad you enjoyed it. π
Thanks so much for taking the time to listen to our song and the lovely comment you made. I appreciate it!
Cassandra, I am finally unzonged, thank you. And but an hour before midnight. Pheeew! Sure didn't think I'd make it until my dad came through. Yeehaw. Going through your songs , there's so much great stuff here, including the collabs.
Hello, did you send me the wavs? No worries if you haven't had time - I know it's getting close to the finishing line now....
Thank you so much for the appreciation and kind comments on 'Escape Together' π
Whatever you choose to do, I know it'll be right π
Hello there! If you have the time at any time, you want to put some Wurlitzer on 'Afraid?'
Btw, keep meaning to say I love your cyclopian doll - fab!
Great! We could ping-pong some lyrics, or I could set something you written to music or vice-versa...or something else..?
Thank you so much for such lovely comments on 'Ride the Lightning'! It did feel a little high for me so you saying such nice things makes me feel better about my vocal! π
Thank you Cassandra for your comment on Chandlers video you are a lovely person.
Thank you for the awesome comment, Cassandra. Means a lot! And Iβve just noticed I need to check out your latest...
Re: dark Side Lover Blues...donβt know where the lyrics came from. Just woke up with the lines running through my head.
Glad you liked it.
Your comment on my song, "Making Waves", made my day! Thank you for listening and thoughtfully replying!
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your journey with your daughter! It made so happy!
The thing in the end is in fact my inward scream. In the spur of the moment I decided to scream in my guitar's pickup.
Thank you so much! It felt edgy to share something so rough and weird compared to my thoughtful acoustic tunes. Your words help me feel more confident to keeping leaning into whatever feels good in the moment π
RE: I'm in a Rush - Awesome! Do anything you like to make it work π
Thanks! I went to sleep with that one last night pretty unhappy with it and ready to start over, but was quite amazed at whatever magical elf must of done all that work while I was sleeping this morning π€£
Thank you for your thoughtful comment on my song -- I'm just coming back after a week away from FAWM and am super overwhelmed catching up on people's songs -- then I look at your page and you've got eleven damn songs already! nuts! a quick and dirty listen thru is very inspiring. Love the whirly and the concise thoughts in the lyrics. I'm excited to listen more once timing allows!
I'm not sure it's hugely on the nose tbh. If people weren't reading your liner notes first, I expect that would be the point where the penny would really drop. It's a nice line too π
thnaks for your comments on boomer no boom. the reverb was an effect but the falsetto was real.
in the late 80s, when my roommate was co ordinating musical acts for an animal rughts protest in DC, he spent a long time on the phone with laura nyro. they stayed in touch afte trhe event and, as he was often out of the house, i got to talk with laura whenever she called and he wasnt home.. remember when she opened for bob dylan she told me there was a clause in her contract that forbade her to make eye contact with him should they accidentally meet. she has so much wonderful music. i still havent digested it all. have yu eard morrisseys cover of wedding bell blues? its a gas.
He's a treat! you break out a harmonica and even if he's in a dead sleep he comes to sing along, will keep pitch and any rhythm you can play and he works for belly rubs. Now I just need to learn how to play the stupid thing hahaha. I didn't find that out until 50/90 this year and was recording a harmonica part with headphones on and thought wow that sounded surprisingly good and him outside the door howling was what I was hearing π€£. Pretty sure it was coyotes, some neighbors have lost some dogs and one caught a pack in the act of tearing one up pretty good. They've mostly all, well I'll just say moved on though.
Thank you for your super nice comments on "Alone", especially for writing you like the vocals! (I feel very self-conscious about my singing.)
Hey there. Thank you for the lovely comment on Fairytale Blues. It really made my day π
Glad my track made you laugh! Thank you!
thank you for commenting on my song What Day It Is in such detail! I appreciate it!
Don't you love your candy message.. FAWM loves you. So do we all. Happy Valentine's Day
Thanks! I finally listened to that no-listen, there was one guitar line buried real deep in the mix that is going to get used elsewhere, and dropping that one out actually made the other thing make more sense. So yeah, well worth a go I think, it spawned two things at least π
Thank you for your comment on Saturn's Night. It was fun to put together - even with the DAW crashes (darn FAWM gremlins! LOL).
See You In The Shadowsβ¦
Thanks for your comments on "Complex" and "Birthday." And yeah, the do-re-mi challenge was RIGHT up my alley. I tend to stick to the same three chords anyway lol. π
Just listened to @ductapeguy 's birthday song and wanna wish you belated a very happy birthday! π
That 2nd "yeah" in Yeah Yeah Yeah I Remember? Yeah there's something about singing a major 7th when it isn't in the chord that makes me very happy.
As you should! Even just after listening to a few of your tracks(so far) I think slothcore would suit your voice and that lovely organ nicely! I'm scared to listen to your F150 Boys π I think that's a mighty fine truck! even though I'm more of a Chevy guy hahah
Thanks! and that's a great album cover btw! I'm a huge fan of happy accidents π
Thank you for your comment on Only Ophelia Knows! I am thoroughly in love with it right now and it meant a lot to read how deeply it affected you.
Iβm so glad you enjoyed βFrog Sex Partyβ! And Iβm delighted to hear Iβm not the only one whoβs had this experience! π thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
You have to remember, this was before computers existed, we researched everything from books, that for the most part could only be used at the library. Construction at Robertβs was finished around 72, I think, they wouldnβt let us use most of it.
Thank you for the lovely feedback. Would love to know what you think of our others π
Hey crutherford, many thanks for your comment on Snow I appreciate it!
You are so kind π Thank you for the supportive words, they keep the songwriting fire warm!
Thank you for your very kind words on "Right Inside Our Door", I may have been a bit harsher on that one than I should have been.
Thanks for the kind words! I miss the snows of Georgian Bay. It's cold here but not nearly snowy enough. And the Canadian Tire here doesn't sell cross country skis, which makes me sad. I have had said climbing issues on skis at Horseshoe and at Lafontaine in younger years.
Thanks for the generous comment on The Snow.
I marvel at our Barrie possee. Such a wealth of talent, and all around nice people.
You will be hearing from my attorney. π
Aww. We had two. Esther was the first. She was loyal but mischievous. And LARGE!
Then we got Bambi, a gorgeous dark grey pygmy goat. Esther had been bought by one of our uncles who was going to butcher and eat her. Our Irish grandmother stepped in and Esther died of old age.
Bambi died quite young when he badly injured himself jumping over a fence. I'll try to find the photo of my sis and me with Esther and post it to FB.
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback, Cassandra! π
I really appreciate it from the Wurli guru! π
thank you for your comments on boy of the year, that is my favorite verse too. i had just completed a novel and sent it out to some agents, imagining that it may be rejected on the grounds that there were too many chapters and all of them were too short. then i thought that was probably true, not only for my novel, but for my life,
thank you Cassandra! I will re finished jonny. π thanks for the request.
Thanks! I will be recording maybe tonight if I can - need to find some quiet time to do it!
π
@crutherford so how did you put your album cover here? What format does it need to be saved as?
Welcome, and happy FAWMing!
Hi! Xoxo itβs a miracle, I think I found everyone!
Hi Cassandra. π
Promises to be a great FAWM!!
