This year I plan to workshop my upcoming DARK CECILIA album. I'd like to do a final release this fall, and I can think of no better time and place to demo the concept here.
DARK CECILIA is an idea that grew out of a Patreon story-game I wrote in the spring and summer. Purcell composed an Ode for St. Cecilia's Day in the Baroque era, and in it he hails bright Cecilia. My Cecilia comes from an alternate universe: dark but intelligent and poised, with innovative melodies, harmonies, and soundscapes to share.
I'm a composer, sci-fi writer, multi-instrumentalist and opera singer. I love my opera house, sci-fi, the ukulele, coffee, and beautiful mountain views. I believe we need to get the most out of our lives right now, and that's a big part of why I'm here.
I'm here for you! 😁
So I managed to workshop the tracks I wanted to. I might write one or two more in the coming months before the EP release but this is a great baseline for my album! I have a big surprise coming up for the other tracks, so I'd love if some of you decide to follow my Patreon for more updates <3
Hey Clio, thx for taking time. Maybe there’s Coffee time ahead, in mid March...
Thanks everyone who has commented! I'm a little less active on here than I'd like this year but no time like the present moment to dive back in!
Thanks for your comments for "Let Me Rest Tonight"
Thanks for commenting and listening to Pieces! Truly appreciate the kind words!
Thank you for your kind comment on my song ☺️
Winter and COVID will certainly assure that they will stay electric. Sorry 'bout that! I'm on a schedule.
It's been a stressful week and music is a stress release for me!
hey thanks for the comment!
to answer your question: I rapidly alternated between 4 synths patches for the bass.
1. the "rubber bass" from Roland's JV-1080
2. "funky metally" from Korg's Wavestation
3. slap bass 1 from the JV-1080
4. a custom FM patch using my own VST, F2FM.
Hey Clio - its great that FAWM has been such a wonderful place for you to dig deep inside and make those magical tracks as a composer and instrumentalist. So I hope 2021 allows you do do all the things you want to do, planned and unplanned. Good luck!
Hello Wien, hope to hear some unlikely bowed objects this Feb.
Hey Clio! Just 1 week till FAWM!
With all the turmoil since last FAWM, & especially since November, it's hard to feel quite as amped up about it.
"Unnecessary creation" just feels a little less necessary than usual.
But...the artists (music & video creators, especially) are arguably the most influential modern-day philosophers, & every day/week/month/year we spend honing our craft is a day/week/month/year invested in contribution to culture, no matter how small our circle of influence.
Hope you have a great Feb./FAWM, no matter how you spend it.
Hi Clio, your at home or in town? Wherever, have a good month and some better ones to come.
Hello dear friend! Looking forward to musical magic!
Hey Clio, looking forward to your highly creative music this year 😀
