Thank you, everyone, for another lovely FAWM. So much incredible music this year! I'll be here listening and commenting (though at a slower pace) throughout March, and I'm looking forward to connecting with you all again during 50/90 and beyond!

Singer-songwriter from Ohio returning for my fourth FAWM!

I can generally be found somewhere under the expansive umbrella of "folk," but I listen widely and have far too many influences to name. I mostly play acoustic guitar, but keys, uke, and banjo may make guest appearances.

I have a chronic health condition that affects my voice, so I'm just aiming for a half-FAWM this year. Anything extra will be cheddar on the apple pie.

Hi Leah. Thank you for your lovely comment on she's going home! 🙏🙏 How do we keep in touch when this site goes into hibernation and how to do find you on 50/90

  • @radiobenedetto  4 weeks

Sorry it took so long to reciprocate. Non-FAWM life came back with a vengeance so I had to step away for a couple of weeks. I really love your voice and your songwriting. I also enjoyed hearing you branch out on Light Years. Let me know if you'd like to collaborate some time. For example, @davidtaro suggested that my song "Carousel" would work well as a duet with a female vocal on one of the verses. That would fit nicely with the theme and I'd be curious to hear what that sounds like if you were game. Lemme know what you think. No worries if not. In any case I really enjoyed your stuff! Great FAWM!

  • @fonte  5 weeks

Thanks for comment @cleanshoes great to hear you this FAWM again, hope to see you next year! 😀

  • @davidtaro  6 weeks

Heya.. how do the collabs work.. do people get on zoom calls? X

  • @serene123  7 weeks

Aww thanks Leah. It sounds amazing. I will most likely try it x

  • @serene123  7 weeks

Hey Leah... 50 90 sounds cool. Is it pretty much the same as fawm then but longer?

  • @radiobenedetto  7 weeks

Thx for the kind words! I look forward to listening to more of your stuff!

  • @highmountain 7 weeks

Howdy and thanks a lot, Leah! Your appreciation of Swiss cheese made this cowboy forget about his saddle sores, aching back and that bullet that keeps traveling around in his left arm.

  • @katestantonsings 8 weeks

Thank you Leah.. honestly didn't expect so many lovely comments from a master songwriter!! Love your style too... When I read that you'd writing your song about the moon in 2 hours I was blown away as thats such an awesome song.. you are very good with lyrics which is something I struggle with .. is it through practise or it comes naturally? Maybe one day we can collaborate! Will love to keep in touch over on SoundCloud and/or insta xxx

  • @crisp1  Mar 6

I'm definitely doing 50/90 and hope we'll be able to do a collaboration then!

You have simply blown me away this year. Again. Always. Thanks for sharing your gift of music with FAWM again this year!

  • @opossum Feb 28

    Dear cleanshoes,

Thank you fer your kind words on my song about eatin' garbage, crossing roads and poopin'! My kinfolk get squoooosed fairly regularly so I get lots of opportunities to laugh through my tears. (Damn, that sounded a lot more serious and sad than I intended!) You said "you've got to poop somewhere" and I just want you to know my mission in life is to poop everywhere! Leave the door to your attic ajar for a free sample! (now I'm just being gross!)

Well, anyways, thank you for listening to my songs this month and I hope to see you again either at 50/90, FAWM 2022 or maybe in yer attic! 😁

    Your pal,

  • @katestantonsings Feb 28

Thanks, Leah!! A collab this summer sounds great! I’m very familiar with Marysville. My niece was born in that hospital, and they live in Urbana! I hope the next few months are full of creative experiences for your songwriting❤️🎶

  • @emkaydeebee  Feb 27

  • @metalfoot  Feb 27

Can I tell you how much you have made my day with all your wonderful comments? Thank you!

  • @katestantonsings Feb 27

Leah, thank you so much! Your comment about the "film-noir vibes" from my song "Spade" made me feel understood. My intention was just that! Thank you so much!! I should mention that I am also an Ohioan. I'm from Dayton!

  • @heidiserwer  Feb 27

Thanks for your comments on A Moment. I've got some catching up to do soon and look forward to listening to your new tunes!

  • @shelleroo1  Feb 27

  • @sbietry7248 Feb 25

Love your voice. I’m from Ohio too. I only write lyrics. I have a few posted. Check them out. If you ever want to collaborate I’m looking for a musician to collaborate with. Keep it up you have talent!

  • @barbara  Feb 25

Hi Leah, Thanks very much for your comment on SnowJoy! Yeah, my partner grew up in Painesville in a house his father built, and they just sold that house a few years ago. Lots of White Christmas celebrations there. We also visit family in Mentor, Chardon, and Perry. Such a great parks system up there. His family is very athletic and outdoorsy, and they’re also members at the Holden Arboretum. There’s also a family home in Summerfield (near Caldwell) where I’ve spent many July 4th weekends. I know me some Ohio, limited as it is! 😊

  • @katestantonsings Feb 24

Thank you, Leah! Your comment was very thoughtful and helpful to me as I continue my songwriting journey. I appreciate the feedback!!

  • @jeff9  Feb 24

Thank you sincerely, Leah, for the nice comment on Camp Meeting. Means a lot coming from someone with your talent and sensibilities.

  • @guitarpatz83  Feb 24

Thanks so much for the comment! Your observation about it being deep for a song about a frozen head really made me laugh 😆 funny how inspiration works isn’t it.... if I haven’t sat down with an acoustic and the idea of cryogenically freezing yourself with a desperate hope to start again in the future, I’m not sure that chord progression would ever have come to me. I’ve actually found FAWM to be a massive confidence boost for me lyrically - it’s always what I’ve struggled most with but this month I’ve written songs about frozen heads, back to the future, a genuine love song, and the idea of living alongside a version of yourself in a parallel universe going backward in time. I’m so glad I got involved!

  • @guatecoop  Feb 23

I’m glad that your voice is somewhat better. I remember that you sang really quietly on purpose, but you still sounded lovely. @theresaj also has had some vocal struggles because of health. You may want to check in with her if you already haven’t. I will return for more listening.

  • @pipewrench67  Feb 23

Not sure I got this far into the month without comment over here, just listened to the newest one and it's fabulous.

  • @blueone  Feb 23

Many thanks for your kind words on economy of motion, it means a lot that you liked it so much. I've made a deliberate effort to not be too wordy this year (for little more reason than the fact I struggle with lyric writing the most!). And cutting out choruses. Works a charm 😂

  • @crisp1  Feb 22

Leah, thanks for the great comments on Losing My Head!

  • @theodamus  Feb 22

Thank you for your comment on Birds, I’m so flattered that you like my songs as I adore yours!

  • @ayehahmur  Feb 20

Wow, what an amazing amount of listening you've been doing. Hope your ears aren't too sore! Thanks so much for taking the time to go through my backlist. Your comments are always super kind and encouraging.

  • @majordanby  Feb 20

Thanks so much for listening to so many of our songs in a row, and your lovely comments ☺️

  • @thelunggod Feb 18

Great performance and very believable lyric/storytelling. Your voice is great!

  • @katestantonsings Feb 18

As a lyricist, you remind me a lot of Sufjan Stevens! As a vocalist, you remind me of Karen Carpenter's heavenly vocals. I hope these are compliments, because they're meant to be! Well done! Happy FAWMing.

  • @highmountain Feb 18

Howdy, ma'am! Thanks for kind words to an old sinner!

  • @oswlek Feb 18

Are you familiar with Sarah Jarosz? She has a recent album, "World on the Ground" that it would smack my gob if you don't dig at least half of.

  • @heidiserwer  Feb 17

Thank you so much for your kind comments on Pine Needles!

  • @goose Feb 17

  • @opossum Feb 17

Hey! thanks for your comment on "Grey Sky Tuesdays." You picked out my two favorite lyrics in the song (I'm told March is Album Editing Month). Checked out your photography on IG. You have a great eye! It shows in the pictures as it does in your songs. Nice to make your acquaintance – gK

  • @ukufriday  Feb 16

There you go again. Making us feel things.

  • @theodamus  Feb 16

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on Don’t Look Down - I feel like failing skirmishes is a great way to get songs anyway! 😁

  • @dulcimeric Feb 13

Thank you for the kind comment on Henry, I really appreciate it!

No way! thank you for doing it! Really powerful stuff. I'm still a little taken aback.

  • @nateger Feb 12

I lived in Cleveland briefly after following my then girlfriend there. I wasn't able to find the beautiful places. Though I did go to a pagan festival in Southern Ohio and that was gorgeous

  • @nateger Feb 11

I appreciate your kind words on my tune! I'm glad you enjoyed the toy piano 😊 by the way, I checked out your IG and your photography is beautiful! Ohio looks amazing

  • @cts  Feb 10

  • @scubed  Feb 8

Thanks very much for your kind words on my songs!

  • @berni1954  Feb 8

Glad you liked my collab with Doug (Just One). Yes, the ukulele family are underrated as instruments in their own right. They can sound lovely at any size.

  • @jeustan  Feb 6

The struggle is REAL. Though, even on the the struggle bus, you sure know how to write amazing lyrics. Geez.

  • @quork  Feb 6

Thank you for your great comment. I trust you know I wasn’t making fun of your health. Just commenting on your beautiful voice. Empathy all the way for having a gift like that and needing to negotiate with your health. By the way, If I Was a Bird is jaw droppingly beautiful. A wonderful old timely feel. Your voice, harmonies, the chord changes, the images that place me on that porch, the emotions of loss and longing.... Wow.

  • @rayboneor  Feb 5

Hey, I'm listening to Zanesville Bridge on Coolparadiso's podcast. Ah, it's nice to be reminded of these songs I haven't heard in a while. Lovely
