I’ve been writing songs since I was in my teens, but have had a break from music for a few years before getting back to it at the end of 2019. I was in a covers/originals duo/trio for 15 years and we went our separate ways musically. I fell out with music and hardly picked up a guitar in those years. Since 2019, I am starting to get back to it and I am realising how much i have missed it, how much i need it in my life and how much it impacts on my wellbeing. 2020 was my first FAWM and in many ways it was the catalyst for my creativity last year as a whole. I recorded and released 2 EPs and a single through the year while also completely learning how to do so by myself at home. But more importantly, I wrote lots of songs - not always good, but occasionally GREAT! So this year I have slightly better expectations of how it all rolls, so I hope to be able to get involved in some more collabs, skirmishes and listen more to all your songs and comment/connect with folks. I found that hugely inspiring last year!

One of the things i enjoy most about FAWM is the feedback. Please feel free to be critical and make suggestions on my songs - I'm 100% open to that! On the flip side, I will also offer respectful feedback and possibly a suggestion or two on other people's songs I listen too.

@celineellis Thanks for your note. Given your message, I wrote this forum post: https://fawm.org/forums/topic/11833/. It wasn't just you, but reminded me that I had some wisdom to share on this.

@celineellis I just want to say that between hearing your beautiful songs and experiencing your cunning wit, you have been a highlight of FAWM 2021 for me. Thanks for being an inspiration!

  • @nadine 7 weeks

Thanks for your comment on my latest song! Glad you enjoyed. We will finish this one later on.

  • @joetime  7 weeks

Thank you so much for your kind comments and appreciation of 'Well-meaning Dangers' πŸ˜€

  • @rembotenoy 7 weeks

Thanks for the comment/advice on "Put Ya Sunglasses On" Definitely agree about the guitar part coming in sooner. I threw it together so quickly last night trying to make up for lost time in this whole process. πŸ˜€

  • @berni1954  7 weeks

Glad you liked my "Queen Beaver" track.
YOU SAID: "Please post this on the challenge forum post and tag it so the others who did the challenge can find it"

I have definitely posted it there on the forum. But I am not sure how to "tag" it. I thought mentioning the challenge in the tag section was enough.

  • @gb9  Feb 20

Thank you for your kind comment on 'Black and White' πŸ˜€

  • @midwayfair  Feb 20

Been listening to every song I can of yours since clicking on Getaway Car. I love your voice! But also your willingness to experiment with genres that don't normally fit with alt-country.

  • @cowex  Feb 19

Thanks for the listen! The lap steel is this guy: https://www.orangetreesamples.com/products/slide-lap-steel (requires Kontakt). They tend to have some storewide sales around Summer, but I've lost track.

  • @waitingforwinry Feb 17

...Still trying to think of a meme. It'll come to me.

    (psst, thanks again x)

  • @erucaesounds  Feb 17

    So many good songs. Wow!!

  • @gm7  Feb 16

Thanks so much for comments on New Strings. I hate that fuzz sound, thx god i'm not the only one.
It's standard tuning with lots of 2 finger chords and some jazzy ones thrown in for flavor.

  • @lennie  Feb 15

Hi Celine, could I have a copy of your MP3 of your final mix of Catastrophe please. I have a friend who would like to hear it but whose computer isn't up to either 'Soundcloud' or the FAWM site.

  • @blainev83  Feb 14

Thank you for the kind words!

  • @johnstaples  Feb 13

Thanks for your comments and thrilled that I helped tip you into a new mandolin! Please let me know if you write something with it this month!!

  • @serene123  Feb 13

  • @atam94  Feb 13

thanks so much for the kind words on "A Brighter Tomorrow"! I'm really glad you enjoyed listening to it and watching the video, too πŸ˜€

  • @dutch1967  Feb 12

I'll give Getaway Car a listen and see if I can maybe -just maybe- be of lyrical assistance

  • @dutch1967  Feb 12

Thanks for getting the switchblade thing. You know how, when betrayed, the victim will often blame themselves? That's kinda in there too. Thanks for listening!

  • @timfatchen  Feb 11

Thanks for the comment on February 31st Coffee. I'm falling far behind even with coffee available>..

  • @redlady8029  Feb 11

Thanks for listening to my song and your kind comments.

  • @daveyboy103  Feb 10

Thank you for your kind comments, Erin is a stunning singer and songwriter so I was working with great material.

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 10

Scuba?! I am envious and impressed. It must be wonderful down there. Thanks for the listen and kind words on my song. πŸ˜€

  • @lennie  Feb 9

Hi Celine, Thank you for letting me add my solo to your song with @Mariekevinkmusic, 'Catastrophe'. It's a great song and this was an interesting challenge for me. I'm glad you like what I came up with.

  • @tawalker Feb 8

Many thanks for your kind comments on "Estate" - much appreciated! πŸ˜€ I've only had this mandolin (a 2008 Crafter M70E I found for a crazy-bargain price on Gumtree) since just before last Christmas, and I love the sound of it. I'm definitely going down the (alt-)folk route at the moment (think Iron & Wine with an English "twist"), and the mandolin fits in well with the guitar, ukulele and stuff! I'll check out your songs so far - glad you're enjoying FAWM πŸ˜€

  • @waitingforwinry Feb 8

Hey Celine, I could have sworn I saw your original comment on charlie too lol. regardless, no need to worry about it, but I appreciate you coming back anyway lol x

  • @elesimo  Feb 8

I'm happy you liked the challenge, it was my first one! I'm looking forwarding to writing my song for the challenge, and I'm definitely going to steal your fantastic idea of creating a backstory! πŸ˜€

  • @akokulit Feb 7

Thanks for stopping by at my song. Hope you have a great FAWM. πŸ˜€

  • @grenzgaengerin Feb 7

Thank you very much for comment

  • @engebretsen  Feb 6

Thx a lot for comments on "Seduction 2". Much appreciated.

  • @mk2021 Feb 6

    Ha!! *bringing not brining

    Oops!

  • @mk2021 Feb 6

Thanks for the lovely comments. I'm finding the FAWM challenge pretty tough but inspiring all the same. You are brining some great songs out. It is all very exciting to hear new songs.

  • @blueone  Feb 6

Thanks for your comment! My vocal trick is quite simple; they're double-tracked (or sometimes triple or quadruple...), and then I EQ the 'body' out of them so they're quite tinny. Layered on top of each other they start to become a bit more full again and they sit in a mix really well, especially when there's quite a bit going on.

  • @jorh  Feb 6

No worries - the pleasure was mine!

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 6

thx for the comment and thx for running it!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 5

Yeah, I probably should have got my wife to sing on Please Stay instead of me doing it, but I was the one with the melody in my head. Thanks for the listen and comment! πŸ˜€

  • @stephentanner Feb 5

Thanks Celine, that's a lovely comment.

  • @skittycat  Feb 5

Thanks for the comments on Testing Times. I would like to get the tune done but lack of skill gets in the way (and a noisy 8 year old) Hope to get it done before FAWM end.

  • @emkaydeebee  Feb 5

Thanks so much for listening to my β€œNearly 65” Right to Reply song, really chuffed you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun to do, but way harder than I first imagined it would be, which made it a great challenge, thank you!

  • @cblack Feb 5

    Thanks!

  • @guatecoop  Feb 5

Yeah, @celineellis that would be fine. There is another guy who will sing on it, too, but I don’t have a problem with that at all. In fact, I find it fascinating to hear how different people sing the same song.

  • @guatecoop  Feb 4

Hey there, thank you for your very kind words. I appreciate it!

  • @stephentanner Feb 4

Thanks Celine. Stunning collaboration with Marieke by the way. Love that!

  • @tjeff  Feb 4

Thx for checking out Cheyenne - I appreciate the comments.

  • @thefifthsister  Feb 4

Thanks for popping up!! Yes, almond milk is not for everyone but dairy upsets my stomach. People can add their own preferences πŸ˜‰

  • @heidiserwer  Feb 3

Hi and thanks so much for stopping by my page and for your great feedback. Looking forward to checking out your music!

  • @stephentanner Feb 2

Thanks for the comment Celine. I'll take a Jackson Browne comparison any day. πŸ˜€

  • @waitingforwinry Feb 2

Thanks for the note! Always tricky getting used to the protocols on a new forum 😁 noted! 😁

  • @waitingforwinry Feb 2

Hiya Celine! Thanks for the warm welcome, still figuring out how some of the commenting works but i'll get there lol. Thanks so much for introducing me to this xxx

  • @helenseviltwin  Feb 1

I must admit, I rarely think that technically, just get a feel for where it lands.

  • @heidiserwer  Feb 1

Thanks for stopping by and for your comments. I’m hoping that this FAWM will give me that spark again like it sounds like last year did for you. Looking forward to checking out your music!

  • @tamsnumber4  Jan 28

    Happy FAWM!!

  • @cairobraga  Jan 28

as Dolly Parton once sang: "Celine, Celine, Celine, CELIIIIIIIIINE"

    let's do this!

  • @expendablefriend  Jan 24

Ah.....when do I get to do producing then?
Wait, what do you mean there are 11 other months in the year? πŸ˜‰

    Welcome back!

    Hey There
    - @celineellis
    - @sjbatavia
    - @phlex

Looks like we're partners in the 4 person video challenge. I know we still have a bit before we begin, but I thought it would be a good idea to touch base and set up the technology that we're going to use. I do not have the ability to edit and assemble multiple videos onto one screen. I know there is the Acapella app, but I've never used it.

  • @beat  Jan 16

Oh wow, what a tattoo. Looks so good! Enjoy being and the upcoming FAWM.

  • @honeybadgerfolk Jan 15

Hi, thanks so much! Looking forward to hearing your new stuff this year too πŸ˜€
