Influences: Ringo Starr, Bucks Fizz, Will Oldham
I am very excited about FAWM 2021. I think my grand War & Peace (USSR 1965-67) song cycle might have to wait for next year. But whatever I do, I'm just excited about the prospect of finishing some songs. That only really happens in Feb.

Thanks for the love on "Birthday!"
Thanks for commenting "Embrace the storm". I'm glad you enjoyed one of my first tries in that genre. I hope that I'll find a vocalist. But maybe you're right, that it can also work with that piano. The arrangement is quite crowded. I'm looking forward to produce all my songs in a proper way in some weeks or months.
Hello, there! Thank you for listening to my songs! <3
Cheers for all the comments - they have kept me in equal parts motivated and amused! More power to your elbow!
Cheese and crackers is a quality choice. Well done, and thanks in return!
Been called worse!
High and low pass. Apart from the fact I always get them mixed up, they're great. Really cleans up your mix. Post-FAWM we should have a proper geeky production debrief. We can talk about gain staging and compression ratios. It'll be great.
Thank you for the amazing comments. I’m truly astounded by the positivity at FAWM 21. Hopefully this is my first year of many
Thanks for the comments! That last one is my favourite too, by a mile. Definitely feel like I've peaked, all downhill from here....
Going to give your latest two a listen later today 😀
Thanks for the love on "Complex!"
I feel like describing my song as "undefinably strange" is the best compliment I could hope for! I'm tickled that Be had that effect on you. Thanks so much for swinging by and sharing!
Thank you so much for your listens, and also the band recommendations. Sugar I know and love, but I'll have to check out the ones you mentioned.
Yes!! You got it--thank you for noticing! I appreciate the feedback. I worked hard on just the right sound for the brass synth layers.
I've got a particular relationship with "good enough" I think. Actually writing the song, I get to that point quite quickly but for production issues - arrangement, timing, mix - I'll tweak at it til the cows come home.
But in all art there is definitely a point where it is very certainly "good enough" and any further tweaking is based on fear of letting it be enjoyed/judged whatever.
"Slovely lyrical content" is my nickname. It's the future.
Thank you for the listen and the kind words ❤
You're welcome. It's great getting to know your music.
Wandering (or passing) modulations is probably a term I just came up with to be honest. What I really mean is that the song breaks out of and back into the home key really smoothly, bringing extra notes to the melody in a really natural sounding way. Hope that helps but I can try and be more specific if you need me to be.
Thanks for all the kind words man! This is my first FAWM and I can only speak glowingly about my experiences so far including meeting so many great songwriters like yourself. Songwriting has never made me money (and my classical based concert music hasn’t exactly paid all of the bills), but it’s nice to know there are good people out there who like to share and grow their love of music. Keep rockin’ and be safe.
As for sounding more like the Beach Boys than Sinatra, I think it has a lot to do with puberty--despite my being in my 60s! 😉
Glad to hear you're back on that horse mate. There's a song title in that, I'm sure. It's utterly shitty times at the moment, and it's basically impossible not to feel blue at points. Your latest one is a real corker though, looking forward to what's next 😀
I bloody love it! As for eight songs - this is the first year I’ve come in without a pre-conceived concept, which scared me at the beginning, but has been totally freeing! And like so many, after the year we’ve had, I think I really needed this outlet...
Hi @brisk - I can’t get the link to work for your Navigator song? Is it working okay? (Could be something my end??)
Hey man. Sorry to hear you've been hitting the misery mines. You all ok? Good to see you back on here, and thanks for the nice comments.
Hi! Thanks for the kind note on my song. You mention some artists I'm not familiar with so I get a bonus this year in tracking down some new music. Thanks, again!
Thanks for listening and commenting on Choose.I feel I still have some work to do on the lyrics, that's what March through January are for though.
Appreciate the kind words.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment on Fixer Upper and I will absolutely take a late-period XTC comparison any day of the week. I once lived on a diet of Wasp Star and Apple Venus almost exclusively for a whole year! High praise indeed. Cheers!
Ok, so I just read the lyrics back and I get it now! As you say, thank goodness for ambiguity...
Thank you for your thoughtful comments. I love XTC but not sure that was a conscious influence.
Thanks for the kind words on my song. My first comments from someone ever during FAWM as I am a Fawmling! Thanks again!
I am running behind. Yesterday was one of those mental, 90 mile an hour days at work so I was thoroughly grumpy at the end of it having had no time to do anything music-related. Hopefully better today 🤞
Thanks for your kind words to "For Juan"! 😀
Thank you so much for the listen and the comment! 😀
I have no clue about genres, so no worries. I usually let @ajna1960 tell me what genre I've come up with. 😉
Thanks for stopping by Choose. I'm making time this afternoon to listen to your work.
Thanks for your kind comments!
A welcome back. For when you're back. Happy FAWM 2021!
