Artist Bio

Influences:   Here's a couple of favorites, but I listen to everything from country to rap: John Prine, Bob Dylan, Tom Russell, Katy Moffatt, R.E.M., 10,000 Maniacs, Leonard Cohen, Billy Bragg, Billy Joel, Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen.

Still in mourning over the loss of the best songwriter of all times.

Anyway... Collabs are extremely welcome, but I prefer to work with people who want to take the song further than FAWM. If you want to post, share, perform or release the song outside of FAWM, then.... yay! Just ask first, as we probably need to make a couple of changes to perfect the song. Royalties, if applicable, will be an equal split between everyone involved. Now, let's make some magic! 😀

If you're interested, this is how I cheat/work:
- I mostly use BiaB for generating instrument tracks, combined with some playing of my own if I've got the time or ideas (although I can't really play anything).
- I've got loads of exciting instruments in my basement studio that I really don't know how to use, including guitars, electric bass, harmonicas, vibraslap, various percussion instruments, accordion, Irish flute, mouth harp, ukulele, keyboards, and even a vintage auto harp used for decoration.
- Speaking of ancient, I use CoolEdit Pro 2.1 for chopping, editing, effects and mixing. It's the only DAW simple enough for a tech retard like me.
- Vocal tuning in Melodyne. Kind of an expert there. 😉

Thank you for listening to "Goings On" - yeah, I'd like to know what is going on there too 😀

Love your tune "Farther from You", nicely written lyrically; terrific guitar work, nice melody.

Hey again, I’ve been thinking I want to share my FAWM page with my family and my Patreon page. But could you please remove me as a tagged collaborator on “Call Me Baby” as there are a couple of lyrics in that song that I’m not comfortable with in this context. I also didn’t actually co-write the song. So would be much happier to be credited in the liner notes only. Am looking forward to March where I will definitely be back to hear more of your songs!

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 25

Glad that what I did works for you! Don’t worry about tagging me as a collaborator as the song is all yours. You can mention I sang the vocal if you like.

  • @akokulit Feb 25

Hi I shot you an email of my recording. Hope it's okay with you to share here in the FAWM site. 😀

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 25

Argh I wish I’d known that before! I’ve run out of time now. I have only three days to write and demo four songs...

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 25

I emailed you a vocal today. The key wasn’t great for me. Both too low or too high. I had to choose so I went for too high!

  • @scottlake Feb 25

you should have two tracks waiting for you. Both are dry vocals so you can do the eq and processing how you like. First file is all of the lyrics sung. I did modify just a few. Second track is the same pretty much but starts at the first chorus. Both can be imported at zero time in your DAW. The 2nd one is in case you want to pick and choose from two different times through, or want to double vocals in the choruses or something. I sang in the octave you did. I tried to be kind of dramatic with the vibrato and intensity on the choruses. Meatloaf would be an octave higher!

They are 320 kbps MP3 files. Let me know if you need a different file format.

Thanks for letting me give it a try.

  • @scottlake Feb 25

I see what happened. The link you put in my profile goes right to the guide vocal track, not a folder, in Chrome.

  • @rickamorphis Feb 23

Thanks for asking, Morten...I'm having some recording problems and haven't had the time to fix/update things. Hopefully I'll get something up before it's all over but it won't be a usual February for me unfortunately. Congrats on your win and output!

  • @thedutchwidows  Feb 23

Thanks for the comments, glad you like the artist bio! It is my manifesto - keep turning the handle and see what happens.

I think I have no inner critic issues because I have nothing riding on any music I make, it's just my favourite way to pass time. If I think it's good I'm pleased, but if it's not, oh well, move on. It doesn't matter to anyone, not even me really, and nothing on earth will change either way, so why worry? They're all just temporary vibrations in the air, and they fade away.

  • @scottlake Feb 21

The song is in my range. If you can send me lyrics that would be helpful. I can go for a couple of different styles

  • @hmorg  Feb 21

Thanks for the comment on "Monolithic Halls"! Monotony is a delicate balance in my compositions, I find. Too little and I won't like them myself, too much and my bandmates won't like them. This time I seem to have struck gold, though.

  • @scottlake Feb 21

I will see what I can do!

  • @scottlake Feb 21

I can probably help you out with singing your song for your intended recipient.

  • @chrismyth02 Feb 19

Shot you some lyrics via email if you're still down to collab!

  • @the3queens  Feb 17

@bithprod no I'm trying to evict her permanently🤣!

  • @estebanlartigue  Feb 17

Hi would you like a collaboration? You have nice lyrics and id be happy to try one of them in a tune.

I read milk carton boy and that fits musically with some stuff im doing right now musically in another collab

  • @chroes  Feb 16

Made my mail visible. I'm very curious now!

  • @chroes  Feb 15

Irony is fine with me. I'm thinking about "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar, perhaps? Uptempo dramatic rock ballad? Or... How about "Tainted Love"? I've done so many slow songs this FAWM, I need to speed things up. 😊

  • @chroes  Feb 15

Hey, sure, let's do this! 80s power ballad sounds perfect. Would you like to start with lyrics and structure, or do you want me to start with some musical ideas?

  • @berni1954  Feb 15

Glad you liked Liz and my "This Time Last Year" - thanks for your encouraging comments.

  • @downburst  Feb 11

Heh, I'm just an old-fashioned guy when it comes to collabing.

  • @downburst  Feb 11

Are you there? Make me collab and I'll post the song.

  • @downburst  Feb 10

OK, I have a rough track. I took some modest (I hope) liberties with the lyrics: I repeated the refrain three times in each verse (so, a chorus). I also write a bridge, even though there aren't any lyrics for one. If you feel like writing some, great (it's very short); if not, that's cool too. I started out aiming for a sort of Kinks feel, but *sigh* it always comes out like me. I'll upload it in a bit.

  • @hizuvi Feb 6

I'm up for making some music, check your twitter messages and then we can talk there so we don't clog up the chat here! (If you open the dm of course)

  • @sph  Jan 15

    Have a fine time!

  • @writeandwrong  Jan 12

Hi, Morten!! Looking forward to hearing your work this February! Hope you are well! 🎵🎵
