(He/Him)

Began songwriting in 2009, and FAWM/5090/NaSoAlMo in 2012. So this is my tenth FAWM. For me music is a hobby, all for fun, and songwriting is a sort of personal self-psychotherapy.

February 2021 will still be sheltering at home waiting for my turn to be vaccinated. So lots of time for songwriting in February. Apparent overarching theme for FAWM is writing songs about my relationship and experiences with my wife. Leaning towards my NaNoWriMo/NaSoAlMo (and in some cases 100/180) approach of generating ideas first through freewriting and spending more time on songs as needed. In 50/90 and 100/180 last year, some songs took weeks or months to develop. In November I posted all the NaSoAlMo/NaNoWriMo songs on November 30.

Otherwise looking forward to FAWM songwriting, seeing/hearing from old friends, and the inspiration I get from listening to others songs here.

I have some music on Bandcamp https://andygetch.bandcamp.com/ and I paint a little (profile picture for example) while posting pics of art and photos of real life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/andy_getch/

@andygetch thank you for your appreciation and kind comment on 'Dancing Feet' ๐Ÿ˜€
Though it did stretch the theme a lot... and I'm bending the prompts to my will today, but it was sheer fun to write it.

  • @dzdandcunfsd  1 week

I have some friends that are huge fans of theirs and have seen them several times. I've always liked the little bit I've heard of them. That's the band where they're all named Donna right? Well whatever you did to that 12 string it sounded excellent!

  • @dzdandcunfsd  1 week

Oh that's easy! You find one chord and play it for 20 minutes and repeat on multiple instruments ๐Ÿคฃ

  • @spazsquatch 1 week

Thanks for the comment on Butterfly Effect, I had forgotten that actually "butterfly effect" originated in a Bradbury short. Honestly the Aston Kushner movie is what pops into my head (not that I thought that was the source). I love that my bridge accidentally name-dropped the story.

  • @trolls2 1 week

thanks for your comments on my 'homage' andy. I think i cribbed some images from a documentary i saw about his time in greece. Hard to know how or when those influences seep in!!

Hi Andy! I do remember you and great to see you again. Before COVID I was writing pretty regularly but the last 10-11 months, maybe wrote 3 songs. February came and I am trying to get back in the swing. Looks like youโ€™re almost there! Happy writing!

Thanks for your comment on "I Can't Bear the Taste of Possum." A nutrition guide is necessary because hibernation is a metabolic marathon, dangerous if you get it wrong.

Hi, Andy! I'm planning on joining in this year. I was just too exhausted last year with everything going on and my best energy needed for survival in such an ugly, hostile, negative world.
I barely had any musical involvement for many months, but better days are upon us at last!

There are great things about Lorain, but the rust belt decline certainly had a negative impact. It is coming back slowly now, but digging out of the hole is a long process. Most people leave, but that trend has been changing somewhat. I like living here. There are many positive aspects of living here, though there are many places that are nice. I would imagine that your roommate didnโ€™t have many positive thoughts about Lorain in the 1980s....it was in solid decline then, but I was still in Michigan at the time. Weโ€™ve lived here for 14 years now and will stay....unless we move to Ontario....hehe
