Thank you for that de-song. I promise to alert you when we finish our work.

  • @wobbiewobbit  4 weeks

    haha!
thanks for the duelling melodicas comment, yes how did we forget that!

Thanks for the listen on my cello song. Kinda of a spur of the moment thing for one last song that if I thought about it would have talked myself out of. Still practicing the playing part really. Learning a longer fretless fingerboard is kicking my but. Still playing simple stuff like a lot of open strings.

Thank you so much Amanda for your beautiful comment on my collaboration with Alex on Lonely Swan. I appreciate it very much.

I like the 50 state idea. Maybe I could try and get it going in the Forums. Anyone could write and record a verse and then add it to the song, perhaps. Thanks for visiting.

@adnama17 great!!! I’m finally not sick, and fawming my buns off and glad i found you 🙏🏻✨

Is that you Amanda?! I tried looking you up but couldn't find you, until today, lol. Anyway, "HI" from MI!

  • @postcardhelicopters  6 weeks

Yes - absolutely - I still have some gas in the tank. I may have posted the two tracks that didn't click when you first looked at them, but I'm fine with you working on any one of them to see what we might come up with.

    Hello, random-collab-mate!

I had a bit of a slump but got over it. As for Milwaukee... I have no idea. Sometimes the lyrics muse drops words in your lap without asking if you want 'em or if they mean anything.

Working on it. I have plans, but we'll see what works out.

  • @kahlo2013  8 weeks

Thanks! luv you! How on the earth can I write a love song? 🤣❤️🤣

  • @standup  8 weeks

Can I get all of this: Minor, slow, chill, sustain? Or major with all the other factors? I think I could do something with slow/chill/sustain... major or minor.

  • @barbara  Feb 2

The uke? I don't think I've pulled it out in a looooong time. It was a rescue to start with. I don't really know ukulele chords, but I like to feature it here and there, usually heavily disguised.
The bigger question is "which beach?"

  • @sw1n3flu  Feb 2

    uh... mmmkayyy.

  • @standup  Feb 2

    Absolutely, send me something!

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 1

    Hello, again!

I am spamming your board, aren't I? I apologize - but I've got something to start off with to see what you think. This is to show what a piano-only offer might sound like. I'm posting two copies, one with a click track and one without, to see if this is a useful format for you to work from. There is, as yet, no melody because I didn't want to hem in any lyric options. The file is set to BPM 112, but works well up to 120. I can provide a list of notes played, but not chord names as I do this by ear and by claw shapes on the keyboard. Is this a useful format for you, or would you prefer tracks that are more fully realized? With or without melody lines?

    Here are the links.

As I said, earlier; whichever tracks we don't use for the collaboration will be fleshed out and added to the rest of my songs for the month at the end.

P.S. in case it's not clear from that huge wall of text, that's just a suggested starting point to begin the discussion. If you'd like more than just chords, if you'd like to hear something more filled out like the samples from my profile page, I can definitely start from there, too.

  • @postcardhelicopters  Feb 1

I'm a novice collaborator, so it seems we are both stuck! May we fail miserably and beautifully and spectacularly! And I've no real clue about where this goes and I guess that means no real expectation. But I'm wearing my blue FAWM rock hands shirt today which bodes well to a good start.

When you say girl-with-guitar, should I think more in terms of the Joni Mitchell / Suzanne Vega end of things or Sleater-Kinney? If there's an artist you'd like to point to and say, "I'd love to write lyrics for a song like **that**!" Please feel free to point and clap!

As far as song topics, I won't feel constrained by whatever lyrics emerge -- I may actually be working on an old project wherein I assume the persona of a woman and will sing from that perspective, so being a dude who sings gender-specific girl-with-guitar lyrics won't be a problem. Adding your background vocals and guitar should **DEF** be integral to what emerges, also too.

    SO...

I think where I can start is commit to supplying up to three options of chord-only sequences laid out in V-C-V-C-B-C-C format on piano as a starting point by Wednesday. And if none of them speak to you, please feel free to say "More, please!" and I will be happy to oblige a few more rounds, with the goal being to come up with something we both like rather than just ticking off this challenge.

Alternately, if you send a note saying, "I just scribbled this on the bus -- LET'S DO EEET!!" I will jump in feet first and go from there.

I'm equally nervous and excited and look forward to a wonderful and surprise-filled collaboration. Cheers and Onward!

PLEASE and thanks you!! It is yours!

    Hi!

It looks like we've been paired in the random collaboration thread. You've been tasked with lyrics and I've been tasked with music.

If you visit my user page you'll find links to three songs that show the kind of thing I'm most likely to write this year. In prior years of FAWM I've only ever collaborated on material that already existed, so this will be a new situation to begin with both parts yet-to-be-determined.

And so -- Hello, hello! Here's a cheer to our mutual success!

  • @mosley  Jan 31

Amanda!! Lookin forward to hearing what ya come up with this year 😀

  • @izaakalexander  Jan 24

Amanda! Can you believe I'm teaching orchestra full time now? It's like I've gone down the dark path. I mean, I have to tune 600 strings a day. Orchestra Festival is on Feb. 28th. Riding a bus full of middle school kids? What was I thinking? I'm just a humble trombone player. And now I think I'm going to write 14 songs on top of this? I like your motto: sanity and amusement. Two great reasons to do it anyway.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with this time around. 14 songs in 28 --- 29 days!

  • @toms Jan 20

One million backing tracks of a millionth of a second each!

  • @standup  Jan 20
