no worries, I changed it to Abud. I am A Bard on soundcloud and here. sorry! I was just using the moniker i saw here on FAWM. we'll see if the lyrics have a future incarnation!! thanks again.
thank you for your kind comments on "The Red Cloak" interesting observations-anything i do on the keyboard is pure improvisational whim as I had a few piano lessons 25 years ago in NYC and not much more so i don't really have a sense theory wise of what i am doing. I think the lines 'hanging' over the bar chord could be a sondheim influence as I cut my teeth as a young performer learning his songs-this is kind of an homage to 'into the woods'. thanks again for listening.
So you liked the applecake! I was truly pleased with myself over that one. After ignoring the idea in my notebook for a week, I decided it was a folk song, and wrote it in under an hour--even incorporated the weekly challenge. (Took more time to record, as my cat was hungry and kept yowling)
you're welcome. Breughal was a dutch painter who was known for his scenes of peasants in the 16th century!! Great i will give it a try with Castle Song.
Thanks for your lovely comments, you asked: What was your feeling or noticing in your life that inspired this melody? The truth is: My instrument is pentatonic and to have more options I change one or more strings. This tuning was for a lovesong written by my collegue and I just played arround to see what else I can find with this strange tuning.
Hey! Thanks for checking out Fly to the Sun. Seeing as I'm a dabbler in mythological stuff rather than an expert, I just looked up info on Google Books. I've never read the actual text of the Ramayana, though I probably should at some point. Primary sources are usually more rich than secondary ones (says me as the librarian). 😝
Glad you liked my "Hunting the Cachalot Down". I used to be a semi-pro folksinger, known for my sea songs. They are in my blood. My dad was a mariner and my grandfather a "master mariner" (an Admiral in the merchant fleet).
Haha, funn - I capo'd at some random fret before I wrote it last night and then figured out it was in Ab/G#. I had that second part and it absolutely took me a bit to figure out to fit it in and get to it. It is a little bit of a big change up but I liked it. Sorry about the neck....... I had nothing to do with it. 😉
Haha, thanks bub! 😂🤣
We tend to use bub with kids but I had a completely different ‘bub’ in mind when I wrote this song. Enough said. Much appreciated and glad you enjoyed it!
So, umm, this came upon my Google News feed after I listened to your big dream song... 🙀
But dream for life, yeah.
Give me some Vitamin D! Seriously, where's your song?
Love and miss your face/soul, and let's cause some trouble up in here.
