Make Believe Boys
Used to think I was slow and erratic
used to think I was different from you
Like the whole world was looking right at me
Then I would run into make believe blue
I’d crash every mirror
And paint it all black
I wished for a moment to be
Anyone but me
They were calling your name from a speaker
You were king of the castle those days
But When the curtains would drop on your feelings
You would run into make believe gray
You’d crash every mirror
and paint it all black
and wish for the darkness to choose
Anyone but you
Who do we turn to, What do we do?
When it’s breaking on the inside
And the living is a landslide
Who do we turn to, What do we do?
Do we run into worlds full of warcraft?
Do we hide our emotions in toys?
Do we cover it up like our fathers?
Are we stuck being make believe boys?
that look into mirrors
Without seeing the cracks
of a rainbow that somehow believes it is black
When all that we want to do is feel
Anything that’s real

Some ideas here that are highly relatable. The age-old "real men don't show their feelings" / "boys don't cry" phenomenon. Also, the way that sometimes we encounter someone from our past who we used to think was doing so much better than us in the world, and find out that our situations are now reversed? Lots to ponder here, very interesting lyric.

Interesting. I don'tunderstand it all, but that's ok for a singer/songwriter.
I like the use of colors.
I don'tquite understand the idea of "love is standing still."
But, like I say, there are plenty of famous songs with criptic lyrics. 😀 Would love to hear the music that's in your head.
