@mdavisto says: Thank you so, so much to the wonderful FAWMers who contributed chorus vox to this:
@darcistrutt, @rustyp, @oddbod, @mikedebenham, @leah0k, @oblivionratula, @roadreg, @paulhenry, @skittycat, and @stillforever, I love you guys. You made this so special.
I got the idea for the chorus melody while in the produce section, and then had to pretend to be on a call so I could record it without looking mad. Then I recruited the FAWM army. To be honest, I didn't really know what the song was at that point, I just knew it was hopeful.
And then @sciren knocked it into space with these beautiful lyrics, and this heartfelt performance. I am so proud of how this came out.
I could make it bigger. I could make it longer. I could put a big orchestral bridge in it. But you know what? It works just as is. Thank you so much guys, I get emotional listening to this.
Also I'm tagging this for the conversation challenge, because although there are no words, when Lauren calls, holy shit does FAWM answer.
And with this song, I bid you all adieu until next year.
@sciren says: This year I’m actually OK with how my vocals sound, which is something I’ve been struggling with for nearly 10 years. I always felt naked without my voice being covered in layers of effects and reverb, but I’m clearly adjusting. It helps that @mdavisto knows what he’s doing, too. I was instructed to write something lyrically “in the ballpark of hope”, and this is what came of it. Thanks for your contributions fawmers! We definitely made a pretty. ❤️
In a world where the truth is hard to see
When solace just can't be found
It's hard to keep your head up
Let alone both your feet on the ground
In a world now that's crumbling to debris
Where hope is a forgotten word
It's hard to find your own voice
Let alone a reason to be heard
There's a new day ahead of all this mess
See it rising now, with the sun
A reason to move on, a promise
After the war is won
There's an uprising coming, coming yes
Our song has now just begun
In darkness comes the dawn
So hear our voices join as one
