I had a riff I was working on for a week or so with some drums from @freebeats, but it wasn't working out, so I scrapped it and came up with this in an hour 😁 (it's better, and uses the same @freebeats drums.) There's a long rest in the drums where I wasn't sure what to do, and then I thought, "How about I gank some audio from a famous hockey game?" The song is a bit busy with guitars but you know what? I'm a busy guy 😝
I don't really know much about hockey, but according to the internet, Terry Sawchuk was the goalie for the 1967 Stanley Cup Champion Toronto Maple Leafs. He stopped 40 out of 41 shots on goal in game 6 against their opponent, the Montreal Canadiens. In the last minute of the game, team captain George Armstrong scored an empty net goal to put the Leafs up 3-1, thus preventing any possible chance of a tie or a game 7 comeback.
Sawchuk died in 1970 from severe internal injuries sustained during a fight with his roommate over living expenses.
