Before FAWM started, I wrote down a list of about 20 track names I thought might work for this project. This was the first one I wrote down, but it never really materialized before tonight. Still very much a sketch, but I'm really loving the way this came together.
Another true story about my friend M and the fact that we actually walked about five miles from the LA Coliseum back to our hotel in Chinatown after seeing Ratatat and Daft Punk on July 21, 2007. There's a whole 'nother story about a situation at a gas station after we got back, but I'll save that for another time.
Channeled some of my heroes for this one, Gil Scott-Heron and Frank Zappa. And maybe Astralasia.
Tonight's stroll down blackout lane
begins like any other night
with a memory
begins with a lie
they say you're never supposed to open
with an apology
and so i am not sorry
for i know not what i have done
in certain situations
i may have acted strange
but not unpredictably
takes one to know one
I loved you addictively
and you're not the only thing I've loved
i've loved everything i've ever been given
everything i have ever taken
brought it all in for some giant feel good
down the hill we walked
Hill Street, Los Angeles
After Daft Punk at the Coliseum?
All the way to Chinatown
There were strangers getting into their cars
Some band loading up after the gig
The only life we had seen all night
And we asked 'em
Is it safe?
They looked at us
They looked at each other
Looked back at us
Looked at the road
"Just stay positive. You'll make it home."
