Skirmish prompt from @keithcuts: "Beat"
My usage might rub some grammarians the wrong way, but I went with "I'm beat" in the sense of being beaten, as well as being spent.
Lyrics and music idea written well within the hour, but wrangling the GB aspects took me into 2 hours.
ETA: Okay, I've had two people believe that's me doing the fingerpicking guitar, but it's an Autoplay instrument in garageband on my iphone. I used that to give me freedom to actually find chords that I don't know how to execute while I was composing the song. Bmin11 is the one that sounds cool in the 3rd line. If I stuck to what I know, it never would have come into being with quite that chord structure. I recommend it! I also use the "chordbot" app sometimes. Not in any attempt to fool you guys, though. LOL! I actually like less perfection in my timing and more expressiveness in the dynamics, but this software guitar does have a beautiful sound.
I'm beat… folded over, bent in half
I'm beat… and I'll never make it back
the journey was an exercise
in looking past the big surprise
now everyone can see it has got the best of me
I'm beat… I don't ask for consolation
I'm beat… I deserved the degradation
the lesson wasn't formalized
but still it opened up my eyes
now everyone can see that it has got the best of me
I'm beat… let that settle in your bones
I'm beat… my glass house is full of stones
I'm waiting for the sun to rise
a different path to crystallize
I hope that you can see that this got the best of me...
