Somehow this is my second song this month (after FFWD) inspired by being awake at half-past four in the morning.
Also inspired by John Cage's infamous avant-garde composition 4'33": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4%E2%80...
To add extra atmosphere to my weirdo acoustic song I have sampled two performances of 4'33" - in the left channel we have my favourite version, performed by a cat named Nola; in the right channel we have the Sinfónica Conservatorio Nacional Quito-Ecuador. Ideally my song would have been four minutes and thirty-three seconds long but adding another two minutes to this would have been excessive, I think. Let's just be happy that I got all the way through it without coughing!
the birds they are not singing
the cars they are at rest
my footsteps they are swallowed
my breath stalls in my chest
it's four thirty-three
and john cage was right
this is the quietest
part of the night
the clocks they remain silent
though their hands move ever on
no rain falls, and the wind
waits patiently for the sun
