2/15/2018 UPDATE !!
@tunecat offered to give these words a life of their own, and I eagerly accepted! Love the stuff that comes out of that musical imagination! Enjoy!
Thanks, @tunecat, meow! 😉
Skirmish prompt: The Art of Socialism
After googling and finding references to William Morris (who knew?) I decided that was beyond me, so I did the old "list the letters down the left hand side of the page and make sentences from them" trick (skipping the "The"). It turned out the William Morris review blurb stuck a tiny bit, and here's what came back out. This was a fun challenge. Music is floating about in my head, but if anyone else feels compelled to work with it, be my guest.
ETA: Thanks, @darcistrutt, for re-edumacating me to the fact it's called an "acrostic"!
After all, it did come from my hands
Return it to my family, and further, make amends
Taking what’s not yours is simply theft,
Out of order, even if you’re from the upper class
Fate has left us in the roles we own
Servitude is violence, and time will make it known
Our power is imbalanced, but we number more than you
Careful where you step, and look out who you’re talking to
In a perfect world, we’re equal
Anything but justice, evil
Let me have the works of my two hands
Invest in my contentment, feed the soul, it feeds the man
Servility is death to our society
May God remove your greed and grant you idealistic
