I wrote this chord progression at age 15 - the only song I remember writing during my teen years - and I vaguely remember writing lyrics, but I have never remembered them since. Now I finally made it into a proper song.
Not sure what the title should be. "You would throw me off a cliff" sounds too melodramatic for a title, somehow.
There has never been a time
Not a single moment I recall
That you didn’t lean on me
That I didn’t follow in your footsteps close behind
I have never had the heart
To tear out all the strings that keep me bound
They are now a part of me
And if I am tied to you, then you are tied up too
But you would throw me off a cliff
You would kick me out of moving cars,
Hot air balloons, if that would get you closer to the stars
And you’d forget you ever saw me
Shed no tears for me, no
I know you pine for freedom now
Your resentment oozes out of you
I have trouble keeping up
But then you go and fall, and I am there to pick you up
But you would throw me off a cliff...
You’ve not looked back at me in years
And if I cut our strings you’d never know
You would never know what hurt you
You would never realize what tripped you up
You would throw me off a cliff...
